1. I change my last answer, now it's Dusk and Set Me On Fire.
2. I'm just listening to Something Like a Storm now. I went through a phase about 6 years ago where I was listening to Explosions In The Sky pretty much every day, and I think the comparison is valid. I think I will add this song to my ever growing list of enjoyable MG b-sides and unreleased tracks. I think it's interesting that he has decided to scrap everything and start over, and I completely understand the desire. I'm not a musician, just a lowly programmer, but sometimes things just feel messy, like it shouldn't be so complicated, and it would be easier and better to start over.
3. Is there a complete list of songs somewhere? I've got 21 songs, the last one being Everything is Automatic (Lethbridge, November 19, 2013).
4. I went back to the hospital to get my stitches removed, they told me my head being numb was normal; I'm pretty relieved. I'm hoping to start going back to the gym tomorrow and start my normal life gain, but this experience has left me kind of sour. It happened the day after I got back from visiting my family/friends for 2 weeks. I had such an awesome time in Vancouver, and then this happened, it kind of makes me want to leave Argentina. I was in Rio for 10 days during the world cup and it was awesome. I was thinking of staying in south america for 2 more years, and now I'm considering moving there instead of staying in Buenos Aires, but who knows..
5. I'm really just here to rant and vent some frustration, please feel free to ignore this post. So I'm from Vancouver, but I'm been living in Buenos Aires Argentina for the last 2 years, and have been pick-pocketed once, but never attacked or mugged. Anyway I was in a club with some friends, I went to go grab a drink and go to the washroom, and was looking for my friends after when someone pushed me. I gave the guy a look like "hey man I don't want any trouble!" but before I could leave he punced me in the face. He then hit me a couple more times, and then hit me with an empty bottle, and I fell over. I think he was aiming for my face but I was turning to leave and he hit me in the neck instead. I'm not sure if I was lucky or not lol. At this point I looked up from the ground and noticed that he was with 3 or 4 other guys, I couldn't see my friends anywhere and he looked pissed so I decided to get the fuck out of there. I ran downstairs, grabbed my jacket and went into the street. I was thinking of just calling a taxi and going home to sleep, but I touched my neck and it came back soaked in blood. Some guy came up to me and asked if I was alright, I said I was, but he said I was bleeding a lot and should sit down and hold my neck. A policeman came and I ended up taking an ambulance to the hospital and got stitches in my neck. I have no idea who the guy was or why he hit me, but a friend who I was with later told me there was a group of people near us doing cocaine. And It turns out my friends thought I had already gone and so left the club, they all felt pretty bad afterwards but I hold no hard feelings. This all happened on saturday, and the worst part is now the side of my head is completely numb, I can't feel a thing. I think the guy cut a nerve or something because when I touch the cut with the stitches I feel a weird sensation where my head is numb. It's so strange. Anyway I'm supposed to go the police station tomorrow morning to fill out some paperwork, and I think they want me to see a doctor. I hope my head gets better.
6. Letters In Wartime has really strong vocals, I love it.
7. Anyone here heard of LP? I heard her song "Into the Wild" the other day and I can't get enough of it, it makes me want to get up out of my chair and go explore the world. I also got my hands on her album and the whole thing is fantastic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRtWInxI1pg
8. Spiritual Machines is a fuckin jewel.
9. I love Josh Ritter, which is thanks to Matt after he did that cover of Girl in the War.
10. I think the LiveRoad version of While We Were Hunting Rabbits is fantastic, love the guitar work there. As for the idea of recording entire acoustic shows, I like the idea. I know personally I'll probably listen to them and chop out my favourite versions of songs.
11. It's funny to look at the last time I responded to this topic I wrote Native Son and The Boy Come Home, although if I answered now I would say I Miss New Wave and Weapon. The guitar coming in after the intro to Weapon is just so damn good.
12. One of the best things about Arrows of Desire is that it contrasts so well with Lights of Endangered Species; It gives you a good appreciation for the different musical styles between the two albums. I listen to AoD, and then transition into LoES easily without feeling like I'm listening to too much of the same music. Question for Matt: With the last couple albums, we were privileged to hear most of the demos before recording the albums, did you have many (or any) demos that didn't make it onto Arrows of Desire?
13. Yeah his voice is great in that song. So much good music here, I initially thought Via Dolorosa would be my favourite track on the album, but Letters In Wartime is making a really strong case now.
14. I know I'm completely biased, but it baffles me how this is matt's 10th album, and it still kicks so much ass when so many musicians can't follow up after their first album.
15. Via Dolorosa is fucking fantastic, I can't stop listening to it. It's one of a small handful of songs that I have heard in my life that makes my hair stand on end and sends chills down my back.
16. So I was going through the main website to make copies of all the tabs, and I noticed 3 songs I've never heard before, Reliance, Should've been a Super Villain, and 4 Minute Mile. I may have actually heard 4 Minute Mile at some point, but the other 2 I never heard of. Anyone happen to have a copy of these 3 songs??? I really thought I had everything available already!
17. Anyone know what's up with http://www.mgtabarchive.com/wiki/ ??? It says "Access Denied" when I try to go there. The main page still works, but it only has tabs up to, but not including, Hospital Music. I was planning on making copies of all the tabs on that website, because it seems like it never gets updated and I figured it would shut down eventually, but I never got around to it.
18. Yeah I get the same feeling. "There's a spider in the kitchen sink, turn the tap on stand there watch it panic." I love this line from Via Dolorosa, it doesn't seem like something that would come out of a Matt Good song, but it's still pretty great. I'm really liking the vibe from these samples, very excited to listen to the new album.
19. from one of my favourite songs: and the girls their eyes piano wires scream, "set me on fire"
20. The live album, Skin and Bones is pretty awesome too. It's a great compilation that sounds different from the album versions of the songs because I think there's some live strings and more acoustic going on, it's great.
21. gold
22. I pretty much like everything put out by the Foo FIghters. Echos is still my favourite though, followed by In Your Honor with everything else after that.
23. hmmm this is hard! Ok in no particular order: Beyond Good and Evil The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker Chrono Trigger Half-Life 2 Fez edit, honourable mentions: Chrono Cross (tough putting Chrono Trigger instead of this, I loved both games) Dreamfall: The Longest Journey Diablo StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Doom Super Mario 64 Donkey Kong Country Team Fortress 2 Counter-Strike Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 3 Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 4 Halo: Combat Evolved Earthbound ahhh too many good games to name
24. I just keep thinking of that line from the Friends theme song "well it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year". lol I know slightly over dramatic, but I can't help how I feel.
25. I heard about this band on an episode of Radiolab (excellect radio show from New York) and I'm really enjoying them. I don't really know what type of music it is; there's a couple guys playing guitar, a drummer and 2 girls singing, so take from that what you will. Here's a couple links to youtube videos: OK scratch that i'm lazy and i prefer when people just embed the video so i don't have to click something, so here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSgOImxZalY
