    Junos

Although I find most of the nominees sickening, I can't bring myself to put in an indie vote for Matt. I mean we all know he doesn't actually care about music awards, and even if we gave him enough votes for him to get an honorable mention, it wouldn't be the highlight of the year. So why don't we save our voting power for something that might actually make a difference. BTW: We all know that Avril will win all the Juno's anyway (well at least the ones she's nominated for)... I mean she's got all those kids with the disposable income and free time voting for here. DAMN YOU AVRIL!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! Peace
  2. It's interesting to me that students in Ontario are having this problem to. My student union (University of Saskatchewan) would have my believe that I'm paying more that any other students in Canada. In fact they are also lobbing for a tuition freeze. Education is a "get what you pay for" system. I currently pay for mine with a student line of credit from RBC. My line is approved to $50 000, and will possibly go over that (I may need it extended). My tuition this year was $6 365. last year it was $6 130. I don't know what the rest of you are paying. But I'm actually comfortable with this amount, I know that when I finish my degree will be respected by my prospective employers. Peace
  3. I'm pretty sure that both spellings are valid. Peace
  4. Unfortunately there exists topics where the only resource is the internet. Either the information is not in print, or changes to rapidly for any print material to be accurate. Peace
  5. To take a counter point to the standard argument on this board: I agree with you. I'm not going to debate whether or not Matt is still a big name artist. What you will find is that most people on this bored are the ones who bought WLR&RR. In fact your will find that for the most part, people here LIKED WLR&RR. So your likely to receive responses that take offense to you ripping down Matt. The majority of people here still like Matt's work, and don't need him to sell a 1/4 million albums to do so. I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'll stop now. I think my point is that if your going to be negative, you have to expect a portion of THIS community to react in the way you have been seeing. Peace
  6. Nice first post! Welcome to the bored. I thank you for stating some the sentiment I have about this situation. Now if any of this debate continues, the thread will be locked. Anton said he will post the answers on the 13th, with a new section of the website. That's pretty straight forward, and I don't see any reason why we should bitch about it. Peace
  7. There are two choose at work: The choice of the women to appear nude, or partially nude; and the choice of others to look, and lear. At which stage do you believe a woman becomes objectified? Objectification is a state, where one object is useable by another. To be objectified, one must either allow them selves to be used by others, or be made to be used by others. I would assert that since these women choose to allow themselves to be used by others, then they objectify themselves. Peace
  8. Reading entire threads takes time. I do have a PDF of all of the prose manifestos, as they where posted on matthewgood.org. It also includes the freehand. It unfortunately does not include the manifestos that where not posted by MG. link: http://homepage.usask.ca/~jal423/PDF/MGManifestos.pdf Peace
  9. I reference to the police searching the car: It's on the basis of just cause, where the officer has reason to suspect a crime is being committed. i.e. if the sniffer dog, without invading the privacy of your vehicle indicates that it detects drugs, the officer has just cause to conduct a search. The only reason a warrant would not be required is that the officer can prove in court that by the time a warrant was received, the evidence of the crime may have been destroyed. In reference to this topic: I don't believe that this is any more intrusive than if an officer smelt alcohol on your breath and conducted a breathalyzer on you. I, however, seem to have rather fascist tendencies when is comes to what I believe the extent of the law should be. I must admit though, if we empowered the police to be able to eliminate crime, we would inherit a world where people fear the law. Peace
  10. To further perpetuate the off topic discussion. Dual citizenship my not exist between Canada and the United States, it does however exist between Canada and any other commonwealth nation. I hold both a Canadian and British passport, as do all of the members of my family. With that little bit of business out of the way, can you take the politics discussion to the politics forum?. Peace
  11. I think Biggie is implying that laser30 was incapable of reading the article. That aside, the question is kind of harsh. Peace
  12. No, I didn't maybe you should actually establish the topic first. And read the rules. Peace
  13. Why is it I am actually scared to click that link? Yes, this horse it dead. Please stop beating it. Peace
  14. Some of you people are simply infuriating. I can understand why Matt is mad about the whole thing. I'm going to shot in the dark here: Maybe Matt doesn't want to remove the comments and email link because it destroys the nature of the medium. Maybe he doesn't want to run the blog because regardless of whether or not he posts an email link, somebody will eventually find out his email address and post it all over the internet. At least if he has a public link, then the casual assholes don't spend time searching. This whole debate is just a shit storm. Now if we can stop fucking arguing about his reasons and get back onto the topic of this thread. There are plenty of threads for the purpose of arguing whether or not he was 'right'. Peace
  15. Indeed. It's not a part of the free hand. Peace
  16. No, you weren't. Peace
  17. Canada may have homogenized it's sovereignty and sold it off piece by piece to America corporations, but that does not mean that we don't possess any sovereignty. Canada is more than a convenient extension of the US. Peace
  18. To my knowledge, it's gone. Matt took down all of his blogs, and his website. Peace
  19. yeah... if you dig around, there is a thread about that. If I remember correctly he finished three songs after he chipped his tooth. Please don't argue with me here, find the old tread about it, and argue there. Peace
  20. err... *processing* "Should have been a Super Villain" Is a Manifesto title. "Villain of the Year" is not. Peace
  21. I don't agree. I believe that Canada can chose to act autonomously in this situation. We are talking about investing Canadian money, so why would we be automatically committed into something this ridiculous? As it stands, there are lobbyists in the US against reopening the border. In fact there is a hugh rift forming between the US an Canada. The rift is manly fueled by the left wing tendencies of Canadians (decriminalization of marijuana, gay marriage). In the end, Canada has to take these things in stride. It may be necessary for Canada to redefine our relationship with America. As a Canadian I stand opposed to BMD, and I plan to do whatever I can to oppose the program. Peace
  22. That's cool. Peace
  23. http://www.nearfantastica.com/bored/index....wtopic=3003&hl= You mentioned villain of the year. I've never heard of it. I would lock the thread, but that protocolar queary make this thread unique. Peace
  24. I cleaned up your triple post Matt. How exactly did that happen? Peace
  25. Yeah... err... sure. I'm not sure we'll be seeing any MGB reunion any time soon. Peace
