I'll be honest, I wouldn't care if he chose not to play Time Bomb, Load Me Up and Apparitions.

Whats The Deal With Carmelina Being Played Live?
AnOceanPearl replied to finboy's topic in Matthew Good
I think Fine Art is in Drop-D minus a half on Loser Anthems. That's at least how I figured out basslines to it *shrug* -
Regardless, I still want to hear it. I'd imagine we will probably hear most of HM, then the usual- Time Bomb, Load Me Up, Apparitions, Avalanche, Blue Skies, Alert Status Red, Weapon etc etc.

Whats The Deal With Carmelina Being Played Live?

On AoB, the song is in Drop-D tuning, minus a half step, and he just rearranged it to be played in Eb, which is what he generally uses. -
I want to hear Annabelle.

Currently watching Jurassic Park. I will always love this movie.

I have never enjoyed a GTA game in my life, but this one looks like it could change that. Good thing my brother is buying it and not me.
-
And I just thought of this at work- if you're going to be using a drop-Db tuning like that, you'll have to put heavier gauge strings on to keep up the tension so it doesn't naturally go out of tune, in addition to setting up the guitar for that tuning.

The internet is serious fucking business kids.

I can't stand that guy. I will admit though, he was pretty good in the movie though.

Quite a few songs on AoB (Carmelina, Truffle Pigs, The Fall of Man, Under the Influence [well, the bass at least]) are tuned down to Drop-D, minus a half step. If you don't have your guitars set up for that tuning, the low E, which is tuned down to Db, can become very loose and lose the tuning quite easily if you're keeping the guitar in that tuning for an extended period of time. As far as I know though, Throw Away is just in Eb tuning, like most songs from Beautiful Midnight on.

Dan in Real Life. It was very good. Frankly, any movie where Dane Cook becomes sad is a winner in my books, but other than that, I really really liked it.

He played "The Rat Who Would Be King", "Carmelina" and "Advertising on Police Cars" during the last full band tour. beerman, Comfortable Criminals was recorded during the Avalanche sessions, but Matt didn't like it, so he scrapped everything but the drum track, which became the basis for "A Long Way Down". Annabelle I believe was originally recorded around the same time, then simplified and stripped of a lot of instrumentation, rerecording for White Light, cut, and then released on the Amnesty Canada website and for free. Also, Pony Boy was originally recorded after the Beautiful Midnight sessions, and Ian Browne was the only MGB member other than Matt to play on the song.

Sort of a Protest Song is easily my favorite song EVER. The b-sides probably would have fit with the album (All Together moreso than Pony Boy in my opinion), but the album is what it is, and even after all this time, I still get chills listening to it.
-
I remember learning it on my bass around that time.
-
He's also probably forgotten how to play it.
-
Personally, it's only an okay song, and I think we all know how Matt feels about most of AoB.
-
First one is good. Though, I have to admit, the tone on the bass irritates the hell out of me. The second one is okay, but nothing special. The bass tone is better than the first though.

They're just a hired backing band based out of Toronto.

I found mine on ebay 18 months ago or so, which is really the only place it'll pop up now, and I haven't seen any in a long time on there. Picture!
-
Ahaha sure is! Other than Hospital Music, that's the only other MG album I've actually preordered, believe it or not.
-
Matt's more than happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures, at least in my experience. Last go around I got my Avalanche vinyl signed, this time I'm going to get my copy of "A Pleasurable Headache" signed, because it makes me feel cool.

Announced, on sale, it's basically the same shit.
