He's posted a bunch more Full-band tour dates. Vancouver June 26! Goes on sale this Friday! WEEEE!

I am going to assume he does at least some of them. Cos it makes him that much cooler. But man, seeing that trailer. Chills. It's everything I wished for, when I was a kid. <3

City And Colour
Muran replied to Dan #2's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
We just picked it up recently and I'm ok with it so far. Perhaps it's because he added a couple more instruments, but largely, it sounds a whole lot less....depressing. And at the risk of sounding emo, I'm not digging the more upbeat sound too much. As I said, for now it's just ok. -
Instrumental Bands
Muran replied to JadenB19's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I like Twelve Girls Band, if you're feeling Asian, a New Age duo called "2002", and a pianist called Kevin Kern. There's also a post-rock band called "Mono" that's very chill... Wim Mertins is also very good, as is the Taliesin Orchestra. I wonder if these are what you meant by instrumental bands? To me, when I think Instrumental, I think super chill, spa/yoga type music? -
Oh God, no, Jarrod. No. Put it away. PUT IT AWAY.

That made me want to vomit. I call my boss "dude" all the time. He loves it ;) Seriously though, it's annoying how skateboarders get such a bad rap. I don't think it's any more irritating than say a biker or a rollerblader...

If these are for your girlfriend, no, you do it yourself, son lol Otherwise, go to freaking Rocky Mountain on Robson, and buy them there, geez XD It's a "gentle roll" boil or something...just a little over a simmer. Think about it, it just needs to be hot enough to heat a glass surface, to melt chocolate. You could set a blow dryer to high and it would melt chocolate at some point XD It's not rock science. haha -

From my experience, I don't think that it's too much of a problem, if the bottom of your bowl touches the boiling water a little. I think the worry about the hot water touching the sides of the bowl, is that it might roll down into the chocolate unbeknownst to you... If you don't understand why you're doing the double boiler thing, it's because you don't want to burn the chocolate. Your other, non-water option, is to melt it in the microwave. Just turn the setting down way low and check it every 30 seconds, and stir it. EDIT: And the water should be a gentle roll, not crazy super bubbly, just enough to heat the bottom of the pyrex/microwave safe bowl. Don't really need to worry about steam explosions or anything haha -

Yup, I was going to say the same thing. But be super super sure that not 1 iota of water gets into that bowl of chocolate, or it'll seize up. -
Well, Rock Band is probably a little more true to actual drumming, than Drummania, which has auto-bass. Drummania tends to be pretty wild, and it'll take forever to learn bass well enough to play the good songs, which is why the auto-bass exists. Gives players a chance to play songs they wouldn't normally. I suppose it's a cheat, but if it's fun, it's fun, and that's what video games are supposed to be for.

This is a lot like a program I downloaded a long time ago, before Guitar Heroes existed. It was based on the Guitarfreaks and Drummania engine, I guess is the word you'd use. You didn't make your own songs, but there was a huge library of songs you could play Guitar and Drums for. It was kinda buggy, but if you had the 3rd party guitars and drum sets for the aforementioned Bemani brand games, and an adapter to plug it into your computer, it was a pretty fun game to play.

Ahhh, didn't know she drew that for you! I thought you did it! XD You must take many a picture.

I like "The Universal". She's a great painter!

I dig Ann Leibowitz. Her new Disney ad campaign is awesome:

David Usher
Muran replied to yakasushii's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I would venture to say it's a little harder than his last couple of solo albums, but still maintains a sense of chillness. Was that really vague? :S -
*shrug* I didn't know that. I just knew of emo as a slang term for people who are just constantly overwhelmed by FEEELINGS. And have no other way of expressing said feelings, except in a fountain verbal diarrhea and various ventures of "creativity".

I understand the catharsis of writing a song about how he's feeling about his circumstances/situation, however, must he release every song he writes? Because it comes off like he's airing out his dirty laundry for everyone to see, which seems in bad taste to me. If he feels like he needs to share his song with people, I would feel it more appropriate to perform it to people who are close to him, people who are intimately aware of his situation. Not the public, who only know what he tells us. It just seems...kind of skewed. But as with everything said in this thread, these are simply opinions and thoughts.

Emo is a music genre now? That's gross. Personally, I just meant MG is sounding emo, in that he's sounding like he's bitterly complaining/whining. There may have been merit to it, for a few songs here and there, but not this many...And particularly not the way he lyrically did it here. I felt like the lyrics made no effort. I understand it's a very rough cut, and I severely hope he's thinking re-edit. And that's exactly what I did. I didn't bash anyone. If *you* don't like it, then deal with it.
-
I missed it, but reading over the lyrics, I couldn't possibly care how "awesome" it *may* sound. Those lyrics are mega-awful. I get really sick of some of my friends calling Matt Good's music "emo". But, lately, that's exactly what MG's music is sounding like.

Just saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in the theaters, for the Spark FX film festival. God, I forgot how awesome Indiana Jones is. I'm SO choked I missed Blade Runner: Final Cut. and Tron.

Well, I'm not having difficulties with the drum patterns at all. I'm used to playing Drummania, and regularly play it on "hard". I'm very good at it. I actually think that the drum parts of Rock Band are actually way too easy. If they ever release another Rock Band with auto-bass, I think the drums would be the shittiest part of the game... I'm pretty much saying what you just said tho. The drum kit doesn't register very well.
-
I know this is probably not what you mean, but I seem to be having trouble with the configuration of the drums, because it seems to off but just a tick with the music. It's spot on with the screen, but not with the music... Does that make sense?
-
Yeah, we were talking about how, if you played on a smaller TV, it would be really hard to concentrate. We were lucky enough to be playing on a 50 inch HD-TV haha

Hope there isn't a thread for this already, but I wanted to start one because, daaaamn. I got to play this for the first time yesterday, and I have never had that much fun playing a multi-player video game, EVER For those of you who have played, what did you like, dislike? Like: The karaoke part of it is awesome, even if you don't know the songs Dislike: No Auto-bass for the drums. Although, I have to admit, compared to Drummania, the drums are quite easy. I normally play that game on auto-bass, but I started playing drums in Rock Band, at medium and I did fine on all but a couple songs. Like: The songs are all full, just like in Guitar Heroes. I always hated that those Bemani games never had full-length songs... Dislike: The selection of songs isn't great. There was only a handful of songs we knew, and most of those were purchased after, through the PS3 store. I had hoped they would have had some more female vocal songs...Although, I totally rocked "Learn to Fly" haha I have some fabulous pictures of my friends and I playing too. I'll post them a bit later. I want to know what you guys think of the game though!
