  1. They should look into Hinduism. No conflict with evolution there ;) .
  2. Apparently, the Bay is the official store of Christmas. I wonder what pagan tradition that came from? [insert joke about evil capitalists here]
  3. no i meant baklava. its a greek pastry that makes me feel good in my pants. bacalao is fish. fish does not make me feel good in my pants. bacalao is basically salt cod... but in spanish. ole, bitch. i'm trying to remember, because my nonna had made that stuff a few times even though she's clearly not greek. is this baklava you're on about that pastry stuff wrapped around salted cod? because that's probably what i'm on about but don't know what language to say it in. If I remember correctly, baklava is a dessert pastry with honey and nuts and other good stuff. It's really awesome, you should try it.

  6. Homer: "Kill my boss? Do I dare live out the American dream?"
  7. I've heard of it, although I think there may be a few problems with it. First off, how many plants need to be built in order to actually make a dent in the amount of oil pumped, enough so as to make prices come down? Second, how efficient is the refining process? If it takes more energy to produce a barrel of oil than what the barrel of oil would produce, then is it worth it? I think this is a great technology if implemented properly.
  8. omg teh old thread.
  9. "Young lady, in this house we OBEY the laws of thermodynamics!"
  10. Try this when you play in a different time signature: break up the beats into seperate groups. For example, 12/8. Pulse it as you would 4/4, except every beat in 4 is actually 3 in 12/8. That is, count each beat as a triplet (1 2 3, 2 2 3, 3 2 3, 4 2 3). For some excellent examples of playing in different time signatures, listen to the album Time Out by Dave Brubeck, particularily 'Take Five' (in 5/4) and 'Blue Rondo a la Turk' (in 9/8). Keeping track of the time centres around pulse, I find.

  17. All I play at the moment is jazz, but when I play I like to throw in Miles Davis (understatement), John Coltrane (sheer speed and intensity), and Clifford Brown (tone-wise and melodically).
