Best Records Of 2005
Shortcut To Moncton replied to borntohula's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
A pretty stinky year for music. Aside from the Mars Volta album, nothing worth noting. Honestly though. With Teeth was good, so was Takk... and The FutureEmbrace. I actually can't stand In Your Honor anymore. As for disappointments: Coldplay - X&Y (was supposed to be entirely different from A Rush Of Blood To The Head, oh please) Weezer - Make Believe (returning to the old sound? Oh please) 30 Seconds To Mars - (Watering down the artsy space elements and transforming them into friendly radio rock) Can't think of anything else but I'm sure there was more. I bought the Broken Social Scene album the other day but still didn't give it a listen. -
Marilyn Manson

I respect the man, especially Mechanical Animals and Holywood. But I don't know what he was trying to prove with The Golden Age Of Grotesque. -

The Band has an ego the size of the Grand Canyon (aside from Jeremy) so don't count on it. -
Institute

I own the four Bush albums but I consider the Institute cd to be very generic. I've only listened to it once and not planning to again. Too much unnecessary distortion. -

Wow, I am late into this conversation. Someone likes the AOE and NOT Limblifter, how is that possible? Make A Pest A Pet > S/T, brutally. Ryan Dahle may be the best singer but Kurt Dahle better than Todd Kerns!? Come on. Razorblades and Bandaids IS the best song by Econoline Crush. -

I would go if the setlist was something like "Stealing Babies", "Car Crash", "The Wonderful Future", "If You Believe", "Potato Girl" and ecetera but I know they'd play generic tripe. Arnold Lanni & Mike Turner > You All. -

Correction, that song is THE most artistically indepth song that Mr. Good has ever made. -
Blue Skies Over Bad Lands was one of TWO noteworthy songs on the entire disc.

Everyone must agree with this statement. The great songs are good/decent acoustically but the bad songs are good/great acoustically.
