  1. Mastodon - Crack the Skye...... mind blowing
  2. Sooooo many good quotes from this album. Truffle pigs is my favorite: "your secret's out, but it's too loud to think it" "we're dead somehow, but somehow we're still breathing" "I'm not myself, but somehow I'm still being him" it's awesome because it's all paradoxical, but has me going "man, I feel like that all the time" it's beautifully poetic
  3. I only have about $12 left, enough for about 1 album. Anything kind of obscure but really really amazing?
  4. i wouldn't even be mad
  5. I strongly recommend that you skip Via Domus. It's terrible. It will make you think less of the show, it has absolutely no reveals (its not even canon), the voice acting is horrific, and its criminally short (beat it easily in less than 4 hours). Not only that, but the game consists of walking around and solving the EXACT same style of puzzle for the entire duration. Luckily I rented it.
  6. the whole thing seems a little too much like Heroes.... not that I care, that show hasn't been good since the first season ended
  7. the strokes - fear of sleep
  8. I just finished an unheard of X-files marathon.... all 9 seasons from December 25th until today. I have to say that "the wire" guy is just as badass as skinner.... just give him time, it's only season 1. We didnt get to know skinner as anything more than a "tight ass authority figure" until the end of season 3. THe last episode of Fringe really impressed me. I like the possible direction they're going, and it was kind of a risky move for the series I think, but it will help to define it from the X-files... hopefully it doesnt get nearly as convoluted near the end.
  9. the show is definitely best when watched in large bouts and not week to week. I started watching the series on TV last year and couldnt deal with it. Seasons 1-3 were awesome for me because I watched like 3-5 episodes at once. The commercial breaks only add to the frustration
  10. No I never resort to kissing your photo... honest I just had to see how the chemicals taste now honey Bite Hard Bite Hard - Franz Ferdinand
  11. I'm enjoying the direction.... I just hope that this new plot device isnt used to solve ALL of the island's mysteries.... that would be lame, and a cop out.
  12. I totally agree.... I love Iron and Wine and can't stand that album. And with the Volta too, I got into them after seeing them live.... they can put on a show, that's for sure. Just downloaded the new franz ferdinand album and I'm way more into it then I thought that I'd be. Blows "you could have it so much better" out of the water.
  13. Ulysses (the disco bloodbath effect) - Franz Ferdinand This album is waaaay better then I expected (FF: tonight)
  14. His catalogue is so extensive that it's hard to figure out where to start... any album - or even era (1970's, etc) - of his that is a good starting place? I was thinking of just starting with the iTunes essentials Downloaded and am thoroughly enjoying Fair to Midland have about $30 left. Anyone heard the new animal collective yet? How does it compare to their last album?
  15. That album is on iTunes, and from the clips it sounds wicked. This will likely be one of my next purchases
  16. I'm a big pearl Jam nerd, I have everything they've recorded, plus some wicked bootlegs. Indifference is one of my favorites by them. Dirty Frank is a funny B-side.... have you heard "whale song"? It's another great B-side. I've spent about half of the gift card thus far: The Smiths - the sound of the smiths The Dears - iTunes Essentials Dream Theater - Live with the Octavarium Orchestra (20th anniversary world tour) Explosions in the sky - select tracks from their last two albums (either $5 for their whole album minus a song, or $10 for the album....) looking into "Yes" and "Hum". Both of which are available on the canadian store. Also debating some Miles Davis, pre-ordering the new Franz Ferdinand, the new Animal Collective, and Kings of Leon
  17. I dont really know what is available, but what i do know is how crappy the canadian store is for accessing anything decent that ist canadian. Therre have been a handful of occasions where I've wanted to download something, am not able to find it, realize that it is on iTunes, just not in the store in which I have a credit card, end up downloading for free. Pretty sad, because I would totally pay for their stuff, If I could find it online here, or afford to buy it internationally with stupid shipping costs
  18. A buddy of mine has quite a bit of explosions in the sky, and I have definitely enjoyed what I have heard. I dont really care either way about lyrics, so long as its fitting. Thanks for the suggestion!
  19. I just won a $100 iTunes gift certificate from the Fox and was wondering if anyone would mind suggesting some wicked awesome bands for me to check out. Obviously the only restriction is that the songs have to be on iTunes to begin with (Canadian store). I'd like to say that my taste in music is fairly broad, so any suggestions at all are totally welcome. Thanks.
  20. I have this wicked original star trek series adventure game that was on 5.5 inch floppies (25th anniversary).... One of my favorite games evar. I have a mac though, and having an OS greater than X makes it impossible to play games from OS 9 or earlier (unless you want to pay a crap load of money, and all the hassle needed). Also, I'm a huge RPG nerd. Playing Chrono Trigger DS currently. Havent really used the extras yet, except the battle arena, which seems completely pointless.
  21. I've gone on an X-file watching marathon. Since christmas I've watched all of seasons 1-4, and am 5 epi's into season 5. Hard to justify not buying the seasons when they're $20 a pop.... although I havent decided if I'm going to continue buying the later seasons (7-9), as the quality of the series drops off a bit. My need to remember the details from every arcing episode will probably sway me though.
  22. Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt - The Mars Volta John the Baptist - the Afghan Whigs Everchanging - Rise Against Lux Aeterna - Clint Mansell (Requiem for a dream soundtrack) Talk Show Host - Radiohead
  23. Thanks. There aren't many bands that I know extensively enough to at least attempt to do a review justice. Metallica happens to be one of them. MG another.
  24. I also enjoyed their new album.... James' lyrics have gotten terrible for the most part, but as an album it kicks their last couple out of the water. Since black/self titled they always have 1 or two amazing songs per album, but with 14 tracks per disc they also have a lot of shite. I think that this is their most consistently good album since Black.... and it rocks, no southern country/rock crap like load/reload.
