So I guess that means no DC show... Ever...
-
I was going to elaborate on this, and then Internet Explorer quit on me. Gotta love it. In any case, different pitch or key makes a difference. Play a song that's usually played in the key of E in the key of B and you'll notice a difference. You're right, though it keeps A 440.

What do I have to do to get about $50 NF$ from someone?
-
I can't believe I'm in a forum where people are so concerned about 19+. I'm twenty five years old. Am I too old for this?
-
It's the truth, though. They've done studies on things like this to identify what's the most "people-happy" note or sound, and what's the worst. Have you ever wondered why all car horns are tuned to that god-awful note? It's because the masses seem to be affected by it so they've pretty much made it standard. People recognize the subtle differences in tones whether they have perfect pitch or not.

You're right, it is a great movie. The soundtrack is even better than the film. The only thing that bugged me about the movie was that pothead guy with the sl*t mom. Something about his character really weirded me out. Not sure why.

I have the entire St. Catharine's show on 2 CD's if anyone is interested in copies. Reply here and I'll tell you where to send your blank CD's. I'd offer to just mail them out, but I don't think I can just pay for all of them.

There are two reasons why I do it. (and no, I'm not Matthew Good.) I do it because it's easier to hit the high notes singing in a live forum when you're tuned down a half-step. You'd think that it wouldn't make that much of a difference, but it does. Try playing and singing anything by Jeff Buckley tuned up to A440. So if you're going to do that live, then you may as well do it when you record. People recognize the difference in tone and it might sound different all together. There was a famous conductor preparing for a performance at Lincoln center. He requested that the piano be tuned to A443 because it is a brighter sound. When it wasn't, he could tell the difference and postponed the whole thing. People are very picky about their tone, as you can see.

Why are people responding to questions and statements with "I know nothing about it" or "I've never played them?" That's like walking into a room to declare that you have nothing to say. Why not join the millions of other people who know nothing about things, but don't say anything?

What was the tragically hip's set?
-
How was it? Any setlists? Does Matt strike you as a Hip fan? Lastly - check out this picture. http://home.comcast.net/~kbernardp/bluperman.jpg

I saw him in St. Catharines last July at Arizona's. The show was an open-air show where pretty much anyone could have not paid for a ticket and watched from beyond the fences, the highway, or even the golf course across the road. During Avalanche he stepped down from the stage and played from the middle of the street. That was memorable. He sure did take an awfully long time to go on stage, though. I had to leave early to drive back to NYC that night so my fiance could take her final... What a week...

And I'm in DC, and I know at least five other people down here who are big fans.

Auf Der Maur as in Melissa Auf Der Maur? The bassist from Hole and Smashing Pumpkins?
-
I don't have any problem with Audio of Being at all. In fact, The Fall of Man is one of my favorite songs. Things happen. People ask me why I broke up with my girlfriend of four years and it's easy. I found out she was a whore. I bet Matt just found out they were all whores.
-
I agree with pretty much most of you. I, however, think that "We're so heavy" is the best song on the album. I can't figure Buffalo Seven out. I thought it was about those terrorists they found in Buffalo, but no. That's the Lackawanna Six. Not the Buffalo Seven.
-
Should have been Ex-Pats or "we're so heavy" I've lost too many years to this I walk behind the crowds And pick up the garbage With our future Without memory And made the children of the system we've created And then we forgave.
-
I wish I had thought of that. I just got rid of two for free. I'll sell the last one for 20 $NF.

You have to go with weapon. I feel like the rest of the videos try to force a story or try too hard to do something. I'm not sure what. Weapon is really raw. It totally reminds you of being at a show, too. I don't know how you could vote any other way.

I have two invites left if anyone is interested. The first two emails to [email protected] will win the invites. Thanks,

I'm actually in Gaithersburg. Where in VA? Sorry I couldn't make it to the chat last night. I'm assuming it was a failure?
-
I'm looking for some mass down here to get some gravitational pull to have the man come to the 9:30 club or something like that. I know there are a few of you, but post here. Also, invite yourself to AIM Chat mgood at 9:30 PM EST tonight (set a reminder). We'll try to get a Matthew Good chat up and running.

"And I've waited on the sidelines All this time All this time And I've a grenade With our names Scratched on the side"

It might be something I'd spend NF$ on! Actually I'd give good money for that. He's so much fun live. Even if he did a streaming video show or webcast sometime. I'd pay for that.

I got mine on Monday, too. I ordered from amazon.ca and I got it in Maryland a day ahead of time. Same story as the other guy except it took until Monday for me to get it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the album when I first got it. It's growing on me, but some of the differences I'm finding are pretty extreme. I've known Matt for his subversive and cryptic lyrics that just seem to roll on and on (i.e. - The Rat Who Would be King), but this is different. The instruments are really showcased on this album which is nice. It almost seems as if he's reaching for a new breadth of music. There are a couple songs on the album, including the hidden track, that have a country western feel. At this point we all know that you just don't even bother trying to get into the man's head, but you've got to want to when you hear this stuff. My favorite song, and has been since the St. Catharine's show last July is Expats. I love the message, I love the sound... I mean, I love the Who and it sounds EXACTLY like a Who song. Alert Status Red. We've been there and done that. I love the song, I'm sure most of you do too. I'll admit that this album is growing on me. With all of the hype preluding to its release I was fully prepared to be floored by the quality, and I'll admit that I wasn't. Some vocal effects seem forced and cheap. That could be what he meant when he said "raw." Sometimes the guitars are out of tune, and that's fine. Coldplay gets away with it all the time and makes millions. Buy it or Burn it? Buy it, then decide if you want to burn it or not.
