I have an essay coming up in my journalism class, and i'm going to be juxtaposing the censorship/propaganda tools used in the first world war with the gulf & iraq wars. There was a relativly famous story in the news during the beginnings of the Iraq war, that involved a female U.S. soldier who had supposedly been "rescued" from a hospital? They were going to make a T.V. movie out of it at the time, but as it turned out the whole story was all a big lie. If you have any idea what i'm talking about, do you know what the female soldier's name was? I have a horribly shitty memory as you have no doubt gathered, and i'm pretty sure i haven't gotten the story right. Nevertheless, help would be greatly appreciated.

Dick is a Killer is by far the greatest song ever. -

That was the best comparison ever. Right now its good, but what if it becomes so popular they'll have to drag it out for 10 seasons? what then? It's just like that prison break show. Sooner or later somebody's going to escape and have wacky adventures in college.

Can it maybe rain something a little less heavy and a little more declawed?

I HIGHLY suggest you check these guys out: www.thelonelyisland.com They're an online comedy troupe that are funny as hell. So funny in fact, that all 3 of them have been hired by SNL (2 as writers, 1 as an actor [Andy Samberg]) I've been a fan of these guys since forever, and they're really worth checking out. So....you know....do so. And report back.

So You Think You Can Dance
static replied to Disestabulistic's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I don't watch it religiously, but i do think its a good show. I think it takes far more talent and far less phoniness to be a dancer than it does to be a pop star who doesn't write his/her own songs. With that said, it's still phony (mainly because of the judges) but it's an alright show to catch. Some of them have skillzzzz boiiiii. ....... -
All is forgiven!

I think people that complain about trivial things like screennames can go suck it.

Yeah ditto. Coincidentally this was just brought up in an essay written by either TS Eliot or Yeats that we read in my English class. A lot of the time (like it said in the essay) i'll just have random disconnected thoughts/feelings/etc.. floating through my head, until i possess the ability to bond them together. Personally i love it when lyricists have recurring ideas and symbols in their songs (ex: Interpol's use of snow and sailing.) It makes it that much more relateable.

I love love love those muchmusic commercials featuring the band "Signals in Time" where two guys are trying to compose a song for their girlfriends but can't think of anything until [insert weird event] happens. Suddenly they're inspired. The best one though is when they cant think of anything and there's literally a minute of awkward silence. I've never laughed so hard at a commercial in my life.
