  1. Matt's comment in the other thread was pretty weak. People in the thread never once said they feel entitled, and going back re-reading the comments, nothing negative was really said. He failed to notice how many of the posters were really excited to see the new record live and that users only real complaint was the lack of variety in the non-Vancouver stuff, as it was the mostly the same from previous tours. I could see if people were slagging him in a juvenile manner, but that really wasn't the case in the Setlist thread. I have see the guy like twenty times. The real extent of our relationship is that he makes music, and I listen. No more, no less. I am pretty sure most of the people on here feel the same way, that Matt truly doesn't owe us anything. For a guy who touts free speech, that post was almost laughable. With all this said(and no I am not defending him like some users blindly do on here) he may of just been having a bad day and we all have said stupid things when we are upset of angry.
  2. I had this is another thread somewhere, but from memory I think the two '09 Vancouver shows were 19 and 20 since 1998.
  3. From memory: On Nights Like Tonight Avalanche Boy Who Could Explode Great Whales of the Sea Single Explosion Born Losers Odette Load Me Up/Love Will Tear Us Apart I'm a Window First Verse of Suburbia Apparitions Empty's Theme Park Metal Airplanes(acoustic) Strange Days(acoustic) Giant Weapon Automatic This show was probably better than the first. Matt must of been in a great mood cause damn did he talk a lot. Highlight was probably the Love Will Tear Us Apart jam. When I walked up the stairs my friend and I noticed Matt's mom and dad were there along with his GF and her daughter. I was worried that Matt would barely talk and censor himself but his mouth on this night was dirtier than the first. Also the between song banter was of a way lighter tone this time. Matt told some pretty funny stories. Totally glad I flew out here for the shows.
  4. The show tonight was amazing. The performance was top notch and I liked the setlist. I am so happy that I didn't have to hear Hello Timebomb or Load Me Up. I was not a big fan of the last tour, but this go around was light years ahead of last year. The 5 minute Olympic speech during the VNA intro was probably the highlight of the show for me. Also the Vancouver songs are a million times better live. The drums are full and the band dynamics were top notch. The merch is excellent this time. They were selling some pretty sweet shirts, 2 Matt Good Scarfs, and they even sold some vinyl. Oh and if you are going to a date on this tour, please get there on time for Mother Mother. You won't regret it. Despite his smoking habit, Matt's vocals were very impressive. Hopefully tomorrow's show is equally good. Edit: Comicboy, what the hell is your problem when you don't agree with someone? No offense but you come across as a tool.
  5. iPut Out Your Lights and Poor Man's Grey. Sidenote: Is there any new merch this time? If so how is it? Also, are they selling Vinyl at the shows?
  6. The bridge in Rico is awesome though. There are worse songs in his catalog than both Rico and Middle Class Gangsters. Just listen to White Light to find those.
  7. Horribly lame. For some of the back catalog he could just play solo acoustic.
  8. Well I like the Vancouver stuff, but all those other songs I have heard live so many times before. It seems like the same type of setlist he had for the Massey Hall cd. It is pretty safe. It seems devoid of gems and there are no real surprises. But in Matt's defense it was the first show.
  9. Not a fan of that setlist. Not one bit.
  10. SCALPER!!!!!!!!
  11. I felt like the dude who wanted me to blow up Megaton was a real piece of work, so I told him where to go. I guess I just felt sorry for all those poor bastards. Except Moriarty, I killed that prick.
  12. He said it was about Jen when he was talking about Audio of Being. He said that he was just bummed out from all the things that went along with making the record and the fact that she was half way around the world modeling in Japan. Matt stated that this made things extra difficult and hard on him as him and Jen had just started dating.Truffle Pigs came about from this experience(Jen I'll bring them to their knees). Also Fine Art is in the same tuning, and he plays it quite regularly. Also when he did play Carmelina on the 04 tour, I am pretty sure he just played it in drop d, half a step down.
  13. You should be checking the lounge these days. Crazy Matt Good uploading is occurring.
  14. He played Truffle Pigs once in 06 for the acoustic tour. The song is in DADGAD, but I think the main reason why he doesn't play it is becuase it is about Jen. I am sure he just distances himself from a song that was so personal and written for her. I uploaded the Edmonton show with it but my downlaod limit was reached, so I will redo it early this week.
  15. I go on Amazon or Google Images and just copy and paste.
  16. I posted the show in the lounge for all. If you don't know what that is then just PM me and I will send you the link.
  17. On Last Parade, he should of left the second piano line in. Instead he has guitar and the sound just isn't as good. It could just be the guitar effect he is using, but I didn't like it. And the kick drum didn't seem as profound in the album version. The Boy Who Could Explode is still fantastic and the album version of the Vancouver Nation Anthem is way better than the demo. All in all I like the album, but I still prefer Hospital Music.
  18. Yeah I was actually going to comment on that. I wish it would of been Tripoli instead of North American For Life and It's Been Awhile Since I Was Your Man for the closer, instead of True Love Will Find You In The End

  20. I see no reason why the demos can't be posted in the store now. I also don't see why the whole Massey Hall acoustic show isn't available on iTunes. The show has already been professionally recorded(by Duncan from OLP) and I mean it seems like a win/win for Matt financially. I mean realeasing the two bonus tracks was a nice start, but why not do the whole thing. It is one of the best shows he has ever played. From his mood, to the fans, to the setlist(two encores), it was perfect. I have a sick bootleg of it, but its quality isn't even close to the iTunes versions. I am sure Matt has lots of unreleased materiel sitting around that could be making money on iTunes. Just my two cents worth.
  21. Don't you mind the gap when you leave. This line is absolutely perfect and completely sums up Hospital Music. Honest, sad, and accepting.
  22. 90's: Ten - Pearl Jam Nevermind - Nirvana Blue Album - Weezer Morning Glory - Oasis Definitely Maybe - Oasis Beautilful Midnight - Matthew Good Band Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins Color and the Shape - Foo Fighters O.K. Computer - Radiohead The Bends - Radiohead 00's: Audio of Being - Matthew Good Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco Sound of Silver - LCD Soundsystem Funeral - Arcade Fire Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie Elephant - The White Stripes Is This It? - The Strokes Return to Cookie Mountain - TV on the Radio Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga - Spoon Good News for the People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse
  23. I will make my lists later, but I will chime in with this. I really don't agree with Pitchfork's number one album of the 00's. I personally wouldn't even put Kid A it in my top 10. I am really surprised that Funeral wasn't number one. I would say its number one, that or maybe Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Sound of Silver is pretty damn good too.
  24. I listened to the stream on and off all weekend and all I got was the album. I really wanted to hear some of the extras. I must say the mix sounds light years better on the itunes station. Still wish the drums were a little more raw.
