  1. Yeah that was pretty much my impression of it too. It sounds wholly unremarkable. It's just controversial because they made what has classically been the epitome of masculinity (cowboys) into homosexuals.
  2. Yes, morphine, heroin, and codeine are all derived from the opium poppy. Morphine and codeine exist in the poppy itself, while heroin is processed from morphine.
  3. I would guess that it was from people who 1) Know nothing about Nazis and 2) Know nothing about the Conservative Party Just a guess.
  4. Stephen Harper has a dog. You know who else had a dog? Hitler. Adolf Hitler. That's who. Did Stephen Harper train his dog to attack racial minorities on command? We don't know. He's not saying. Choose your Canada. (one of many satires of the Liberal attack ads from the National Post today)
  5. Speaking of aliens, what used to be the KGB recently released its secret UFO files. The USSR spent a lot of time and money researching these phenomena. http://english.pravda.ru/science/19/94/378/16663_UFO.html And in regards to the go to space/fix earth issue... i seriosuly doubt it is even possible to fix earth. Aside from the fact that people will NEVER all get along, there simply aren't even close to enough resources to bring every person on earth up to a high quality of life. However... with space exploration will come resources. Mining, and eventually living space and food once we get working on it. Food for thought...
  6. Well they did split into two entirely seperate bands (Mars Volta and Sparta), so i would say it's likely pretty permanent. Creative differences, you know.
  7. George Harrison loved the ukelele, it was one of his favourite instruments. Paul McCartney played a ukelele version of 'Something' at The 'Concert for George' memorial concert in 2002. It's a killer concert.
  8. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4586832.stm First i've heard of it! Of course, the deaths are largely not the violence directly, but rather the effects of the violence, so the phrase from the article i lured you in here with is a little sensationalist, but tragic nonetheless. EDIT: It de-capitalized 'DR' in the title so it looks like Dr. Congo.
  9. I'd vote for him!
  10. Yeah it would.
  11. Girls playing guitar is sexy, but the better you are at playing guitar the sexier it becomes.
  12. Did anyone catch the debates today? In short, Harper and Duceppe came across the best - articulate and did not stoop to the personal attacks Martin did.. Martin was an argumentative prick who kept insulting the other three directly, and Layton reminded me of a used car salesman in that he dodged all his questions, substituting instead with "VOTE FOR ME, I'M GOOD!!" and some crap about giving old people back their dignity (was it missing?). However, the coolest person there was the mediator. That must be one difficult job, and he had some really good questions.
  13. At any given point in my life, i have only owned one pair of shoes at a time. A nice comfortable, fairly inexpensive pair of runners, which i usually keep for almost a year. I hate shoe shopping, because the people that work there are pushy assholes. They're just shoes... They're for keeping your feet warm and to protect them from pointy things. Also some degree of mobility and athletic maneuverabilty are good too. Style and fashion are chumpfood.
  14. Serves that guy right. Burning mice isn't cool.
  15. Protest The Hero - She Who Mars the Skin of the Gods
  16. I don't understand why people get all bitchy about voting. Like now, with the 'Christmas' election that people have been complaining about. Who gives a fuck? I want to express my political freedoms as often as i can. The general populace needs a way bigger say in the govt. Democratizing the Senate is an excellent start, even if the Senate doesnt have any real politcal power. The govt needs more accountability and more input and influence from the general populace.
  17. Ben Folds is the man, plain and simple.
  18. I use KCeasy. It connects to the Ares, Fasttrack (Kazaa), Gnutella, and OpenFT networks simultaneously. Good searching, and very fast downloading once it gets the sources. It's a secret though, don't tell anyone. ;)
  19. He may not be dumb enough, but he is certainly insane enough. They probably have nukes, and are known to have a large arsenal of chemical weapons. The entire country is pretty much one giant, fairly well trained war machine. For only ~7% of the population of the US, they have 3/4 the military manpower. And the US has more enemies than allies. And the DPRK still has China on it's side at this time. NK wants South Korea, China wants Taiwan, and both have said they are willing to declare war on the USA if the Americans try to get in their way once they go for their respective goals.
  20. In the grand scheme of things, Canada (and the US) have not been countries very long. The places worldwide where there has been the most history have the smallest and most numerous countries as a result. Look at the Mediterranean area of S. Europe, Asia Minor, and Northern Africa (through all of history, as many of these formerly seperate states have fairly recently re-unified). It's only a matter of time before the 'New World' has enough history and differences behind it to split into more and more independent nations. No guarantees, of course, this is purely from a historical perspective. In the immediate future... it is indeed looking more and more plausible.
  21. It's pretty hard to get motivated to vote when your whole province has almost no effect whatsoever on the federal outcome. I'm still gonna vote though.
  22. I didn't get the boobies joke either... I still chuckled.

  24. I am extremely interested in everything space-related. It is one of my hobbies, and i am thinking of possibly minoring in astronomy. Something the world needs is to explore space like Magellan and Columbus and those guys explored earth. My dream is to go into space and do crazy stuff like that. See stuff like this: That is an actual (composite) PHOTOGRAPH of Orion's Belt through a telescope. It looks even better full size.http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/051..._demartin_f.jpg Go here for thousands of incredibly awesome astronomy pictures: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html And astrology is crap. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/051...b04_hst_bck.jpg http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/060...ula_moore_f.jpg http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/051..._croman_big.jpg http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/051...13_eso_full.jpg http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/050..._wright_f50.jpg http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/050..._demartin_f.jpg Where is there for humanity to progress now but into space?
