I actually like some country music, and I like the fact that Matt's not afraid to do something different. But yeah, everyone has a different opinion.
In the words of Mr. Good himself:
'Enjoy difference. Without it we're all boring'.
Blubird is good when you appreciate it. The lyrics are excellent.
"Assassins by trade
Twisting in the blade
Murder in the lullaby"
It's impossible for me to dislike that kind of stuff.
Bright Eyes - Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love And To Be Loved)
Amazing intro... drums and words, followed by guitar.
Also, Second Law by Tom McRae. Radio transmission sounds followed by a lonely piano.
It's worth it, mark my words. And there really aren't any points where you think 'Bah, this is boring... get on with it', like a lot of other books I could mention.
Set in the 70s... It's about an Indian kid whose father owns an zoo in India. They decide to move to Canada because of political changes, but their ship sinks and the kid is stranded ona life raft with various animals. It's really good, although it sounds abstract as hell.
I finished it a while ago, and I just noticed that it's on Mr. Good's reading list. I hope he enjoys it as much as I did. It's an excellent book, and quite unlike any other I've read.
Anybody else read it..?
