I didn't know that they were remixed....

I think I have to go listen to it and play Ocarina Of Time on my N64

Hello Time Bomb

Strange Days

Deep Six

Everything is Automatic

Remixed by Chris Lord-Alge

The changes are very subtle and only the tuned ear of a Matt Good fan can pick out. However, the Hello Time Bomb "Remix" has a much more pronounced "ticking" than the original version. As far as remixes go, they aren't very "remix-y."

subtle, but effective. HTB has more guitar, Load Me Up does away with the vocal echo and brings the "e-bow"-y guitar up in the last verse. all in all i think they all are interesting, some (such as HTB) slightly better.

but for some reason i despise the remix of strange days. the piano and acoustic guitar are more balanced, and it ruins it.

the album itself is much better in it's canadian form.

but i think the remixes overall are an improvement on those individual songs.

(i've been waiting to talk about that for years, man. sorry for the rant.)

definitely subtle. it seems that Lord-Alge's mixes are a bit "wider" than the originals. HTB also features Matt (asking Dave, probably) "were you smoking lots of grass when you did that?" during the pedal-distortion "solo."

Strange Days has that vocal echo and it seems like there's a bit more crispness or something coming from the acoustic in the background. i'm not too fond of the remix either.

Everything is Automatic has some noticeably different guitar sounds, which you can pick out during the chorus. it basically sounds like they were placed higher in the mix. the drums sound a little "rounder" too, like they're given an echo. and of course Matt's vocal is overdubbed here and there differently and with more echo. basically, more guitar and echo.

all in all, i think the remixes are basically "wider" sounding versions of the songs with louder guitar sounds. probably an attempt to make the singles (and prospective singles) sound more "mainstream." i'm quite satisfied with the old mixes and i don't think remixing these songs was necessary. then again, what the label wants the label gets.

oh, i know about the differences... i sorta nervously twitch when the wrong version of Load Me Up comes up on my ipod.

thanks for the confirmations, guys!

I've never noticed the changes to "Strange Days", but did notice the changes to the other songs, which never bothered me. HTB actually seems a little to better to me on the U.S. release.

Thank you! I've been trying to figure that out for years ;)

Many thanks.

The differences are subtle, but goo din their own little way.

I do enjoy the Canadian versions of the songs when listening to the full album better, though I agree with Ben is a Sandwich that the individual songs were not harmed any with the "remixing".
