  2. kale soup. i hate kale. the restaurant i work at made it delicious and unidentifiable. yummmmy veggie source of iron.
  3. love depeche mode. hate "personal jesus." while i have the cd, i un-checked that track when i ripped it. *shudder*
  4. Cake's "Cool Blue Reason" reminds me of the Clinton impeachment stuff, and trials in general: "the minutes change like seasons, only eight more hours to go." MG's "North American for Life": "All out of beer, so go get your gun," applies to the entire state of South Carolina. While getting a house key made at the redneck counter (hardware, car parts, fishing, and guns) of the local WalMart, I noticed a sign that said they sell guns from 7 am til 10 pm, 7-days a week, with the exception of Christmas and New Years. You cannot buy alcohol on Sundays in this state, and there are still a lot of counties that are dry altogether.
  5. it has to be leprechauns. because pirates aren't picky about whether it's gold, jewels, wenches, or the souls of ninjas.
  6. Brick. it's filmed like an old detective story, but set at a high school. with old cars. and cell phones. and they all live with their parents.
  7. new order - bizarre love triangle it's no problem of mine, but it's a problem i find, living a life that i can't leave behind.
  8. i turned on the radio for the first time in years, only to hear an awful cover of "under pressure," originally done by david bowie and the guy from queen. who covered it? My Chemical Romance. that was radio's last chance. i'd heard of the band before, but as of that moment, i lost all respect and regard for them. you just don't mess with david bowie and the guy from queen (whose name i can't seem to remember right now).
  9. oh, i know about the differences... i sorta nervously twitch when the wrong version of Load Me Up comes up on my ipod. thanks for the confirmations, guys!
  10. that actually almost happened to me. over spring break one year, my car got broken into. they took the radio and then popped the trunk and took the 12-disc changer. ...i was out of town so i had taken out all the cds for the plane ride. thank god. i'd have lost all my mgb (all up to beautiful midnight) and then some. that was awhile ago, so now i'd start with matthew good, specifically hunting down the history teacher tracks, bela fleck and the flecktones' Little Worlds, then sam roberts... and madonna's Immaculate Collection.
  11. just wanted to confirm which tracks were remixed for the american release. this is what i know of: hello time bomb strange days load me up everything is automatic did i leave anything out? thanks!
  12. i've been thinking about this question for years, and i have come to the conclusion that mg does not do "romantic" songs. "fearless" is about it.
  13. yes, sarnia was summer 2003. i went to that!!! ;) my one mg show......
  14. i love the mg quote shirts. i kinda want to just throw some random quotes and lyrics on a tshirt or two. it'll include stuff like, "your vote doesn't count. we've already bought the candidates." anyone up for simply a downward arrow? ;-)
  15. there was a little clip on much music of an exchange between the two--- something about matt asking david what it was like to be "such a hunk" or something like that, and david replying with, "what's it like to be in a chick band?" there were also reindeer-antler headband spars among the members of mgb. or i'm remembering it wrong. that was a very, very long time ago.
  16. beautiful midnight is great as a cohesive album. i can't really listen to just one or two songs, as it just works better played as a whole. that its tracks are labelled 5pm through "sun up" probably has a lot to do with it. it's been with me through many academically-induced all-nighters. audio of being, on the other hand, has a lot of songs that stand out, but it's all over the place in style and content. does anyone else feel like it's a better transition from beautiful midnight to avalanche, and from AoB to white light rock & roll review? AoB and WLRRR are more chaotic and all-over than beautiful midnight and avalanche are.
  17. tt's easier to blame some disorder than to take responsibility for poor parenting.
  18. Wow, thanks for the thorough explanation. The technical stuff actually makes some sense to me. ;)
  19. do they redistrict in canada? how often? who decides on boundaries? is there as much upset and hassle over it as we have in the US?
  20. yes, please explain this... how does it work in canada? in the US, you only register your party identification (if you choose to declare it) with the state voter registration, not with the party itself, though voter registration records are open and searchable.
  21. Just curious about how people MOSTLY view movies. I wish this would allow check boxes instead of radio buttons, but since it does not, just select the option that applies most to you.
  22. screw blockbuster. netflix is where it's at. and bittorrent. my roommate and i have a total of four discs on his netflix account (he has the three disc base, and i have one disc with a separate queue). we go through so many movies. their selection is fantastic, and beats out blockbuster because of their centralized shipping facilities. Wired article: The Long Tail ---graph links on the left (first image) show the comparison between netflix's inventory and a blockbuster store's. there is no way for blockbuster to compete with netflix's selection. Frequent Netflix Renters Sent to Back of the Line ---netflix is screwing their most frequent users, aka my roommate and me.
  23. this show... wow. i watched the whole show in quick succession (it's my style)... wow. while i am disappointed that it is over, i loved the way they ended it. it's just an incredible show. best death in the series: guy that gets mauled by a mountain lion while hiking on a trail outside of LA. hahaha.
  24. that's been a common complaint, even from my friends who are psycho-fanatical HP fans. i, too, had no idea what was going on. i've seen the first three movies, have never read any of the books, and my psycho-fanatical HP fan friends wouldn't SHUT UP for the whole thing.
  25. if it is on fox and it is complete crap, it should be on for another few seasons so they have something to play when they cancel all the great shows with brilliant writing.
