Sorry to hear some of you were having issues with Sessions - sound was crystal clear for me throughout. The set: 1. Sort of a Protest Song 2. Empty Road 3. Born Losers 4. Hello Time Bomb 5. Beauty 6. Radicals 7. Load Me Up 8. Advertising on Police Cars 9. Selling You My Heart 10. Fated 11. Strange Days 12. Parts 13. Apparitions I reckon if the bottle of bourbon was left in the garage with Matt so he could refill his glass, he'd still be playing! He seemed to be having a good time and sounded great.

Haven't posted here in yonks. I'm home late from work on a windy night in London. Sitting on the balcony for first album listen. And right now "Bullets in a Briefcase" has just ended. I want to play the whole thing on repeat until I fall asleep. When I heard "Running for Home" I didn't think it could be outdone as an album closer. I thought the same of "Sort of a Protest Song". I thought the same of "Los Alamos". And tonight I think the same. But I've started thinking something else. Finally. It's not about outdoing. It's about ending. And each of those (and all the others before and in between) conclude their own chapters. This album will be one of Matt's best... I can already feel it. So this is my view tonight staring at the O2. I'm staring across dreaming of "Bullets" being played there. Matt has gone out of his way to meet me - like many of you I'm sure - on a few occasions, and beautifully for me, doing it in both London, ON and London, UK. I'm just an Irish lad trying to get by in life and those moments I'll forever cherish. The man is a gentleman. The musician is a genius. We, the fans, are forever lucky and grateful for both of those things.

Absolutely love the sound of Hey Hell Heaven and Guns of Carolina. Looking forward to getting the album. One point of disappointment, and I seem to recall feeling this before, is how expensive shipping costs are for the vinyl to the UK and Ireland. Oh well, not the end of the world and certainly nothing to dampen my excitement about this release!

Yeah, I got the same eMail from them today. I ordered it about three weeks ago, so when I saw the eMail in my inbox this morning, I assumed/hoped that it meant that it had shipped. But they're telling me "We're still trying to obtain the following item you ordered on May 08 2011". Baffling. -
Raygunner: I doubt there is one. I'll put my hand up to go through the forum for the HM and WLR&RR tours [if Avalanche tour is on this forum, I'll have a look at that too, though something tells me that was on the previous site. The name escapes me!].

I'd be more than willing to give a hand in any way - maybe if we split the work load or something. Anyway, feel free to PM me if you want anything done.

Well that's even better. I'm sure a lot of post-2005 set-lists are on this forum...

Yeah, I remember when Modest Mouse played here a couple of months ago, I submitted the setlists to www.interstate-8.com and thought at the time that a similar resource for MG would be great. Obviously, the further you go back, the harder it would be. But, for example, we have all of the Vancouver tour setlist a couple of threads down, and if I do a recent search, I'd imagine there would be similar stuff for the Hospital Music tour, Nowhere to Hide tour, etc. [i apologise if those two tours were one in the same], so that's a decent starting point.

I'll pretty much support anything he does that has to do with his music, so I'm going to go for it. Besides, I'm curious to see what exactly M+ will be. And as someone else said a couple of posts ago, I'd hate to be out of the loop ;) My monthly repayments on student loans is money I never really have anyway

Hmmm. I thought I heard that it was this or "All Together" for AoB. As far as I know, "Dusk" is something from the post-band era. Naturally, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I know this is going off topic, but I'm curious how you compare the CD to their live performance? I enjoy the CD [as I did their performances], but was a bit surprised that the album lacked the kind of energy that they produced live. Mods, if this is too off-topic, apologies, and feel free to remove.

I hope you had a blast, man ;) Happy New Year to everyone, btw

Congratulations to the guys who got it. Sorry to those who didn't ;)

It's excellent that this US tour has been announced: I'm happy for all the American fans who'll get a chance to see him and the band live ;) Scanning over the tour, they'll really be covering a fair distance over the course of a month and a half! That Chicago show on March 24th is really tempting...

Dan, I'm not sure about other shows, but I know that Weapon was played at both the London and Kingston show, so hopefully he'll keep it up for Toronto ;) Oh yeah, and not that you need re-assurance, but it sounded excellent. - Corm -

So we made it to the Kingston show, thanks in no small part to help from many of you on the forums. Thanks a lot for your words of encouragement and advice, it was really appreciated. Firstly, the show itself was fantastic. We managed to get seats on the main floor, so were just about ten rows from the front. As others alluded to, some of the crowd were sitting for long periods of the show and seemed annoyed that others were up and moving about. I was really happy with the setlists in both London and Kingston. I know others may have their opinions on this, but having never seen him live before, it really was something special to hear "Avalanche", "Weapon", "Giant", all the singles, and the new material from Vancouver, as well as various other tracks. I thought "The Vancouver National Anthem" sounded excellent at Kingston, while "Empty's Theme Park", "Last Parade", "Great Whales of the Sea", and "The Boy Who Could Explode" should be experienced live by any Matthew Good fan. But in truth, it's impossible to pick a song from either night that stood out above the rest: The performance and setlist was just so solid that to choose one over another wouldn't be fair. We hung back after the show near to the tour bus. Just as we arrived, a small group of drunken fans tried to circle Matt and were kind of grabbing at him and surrounding him with various messages of support. While their intentions to see their hero were understandable, they conducted themselves in the wrong way I feel. They even kind of stopped him from getting on the bus at first, and, as his website post outlined, the security was far too lax. About a half hour later after the small group had finally dispersed, I talked to one of the crew. She was really nice, and we'd spoken briefly at the London show. She told me that someone had put a "Welcome to Parry Sound, Cormac" sign on my front row seat, which was quite amazing to hear. Unfortunately, she told me, Matt had actually gone to sleep. But to her absolute credit, she went onto the bus and checked with the man himself to see if he was in the mood to be awoken from his slumber to meet a couple of meek Irish fans [meek in terms of finally getting the chance to meet him]. I don't think it was ever in doubt. For those of you that have been lucky enough to meet Matthew Good, I'm sure you'll concur that it would be difficult to meet a more approachable and appreciative musician. Not only that, he spoke to me and my friend as equals: There was no musician-fan distinction, just a couple of guys talking on a tour bus. I got on first by myself, mainly due to the fact that my buddy who came with me to Canada was not actually a Matt Good fan prior to the trip, and so in my previous correspondence with Matt [and my posts on this forum], I always thought that we'd be going to Canada together, but I'd be going to the shows alone. He came with me, had the Parry Sound experience and still wanted to make it to Kingston, and when Matt realised that it was him outside, he insisted on inviting him onto the bus too. We had a cigarette together [even though I'm trying to quit, but fuck it, who's gunna turn down having a smoke with Matthew Good?], talked a little, and had our picture taken. He's a true gentleman. When I got onto the bus at first, it was clear that he'd been fast asleep when the crew member had told him that I was here, but he had gotten up and was all for meeting. We didn't stay too long: I didn't want to outstay my welcome [not that he even remotely made us feel like we were], and I was conscious that I think he had just finished four or five shows on the spin and was probably in need a good rest. But the length of time was irrelevant: Meeting him was the icing on the cake of what was a fantastic trip. Even if I didn't get to meet him, finally getting to see him live twice after all these years of waiting was a fantastic experience. But for him to go out of his way to meet me [he even mailed me after the Parry Sound show to ask if I had actually made the show], really made me realise what a top guy, as well as a top musician, he is. For him to then write an entry about us on his website was simply fantastic and overwhelming. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I'm absolutely sleep deprived, so I apologise for redundancy and lack of coherency. All in all, it was a wonderful trip: We saw two great shows, I met the man whose music has been an integral part of my adolescence, and we even stayed in a shady motel in Mississauga. Nothing like a bit of an adventure. Thanks again for all your help: I've no doubt that the only reason I made it to the Kingston show was because of your contributions. - Corm -

Just to give a quick update guys: 1. We have bus tickets sourced and booked to Kingston [thanks to you guys for your information]. 2. We have show tickets booked at the K-Rock Centre, their Box Office still had availability. 3. I've a hostel sourced, but can't get confirmation that it's booked, but I don't mind going to Kingston without definitely having accommodation booked. 4. We've to drive back from Mississauga to Toronto to drive back the rental car and get a bus from there to Kingston. This is the part I'm dreading most, but I really hope it works out. 5. Matthew Good has eMailed to say that he would still meet me this evening if I can make the show. The man is a true gentleman. I will keep you posted on things, but it's looking up [i'm trying to stay cautious given yesterday's shit storm]. Thanks so much to you all for your kind words and assistance. - Corm -

This link is excellent. Thanks so much man. Not at all, I wouldn't accept a penny from anybody, but your gesture is phenomenally generous. I'll keep you posted. What seems to be busting me is that the bus from Toronto to Kingston seems to only leave at 6.30pm tomorrow, which is no help. But that's Greyhound, I'll keep going with this. Just for the record: Matthew Good has eMailed me back to say he would meet me tomorrow night. It boggles the mind how anybody could have a bad word to say about him. He is the true gentleman, and ultimate professional. -

Guys, I missed the fucking show. This story is probably the most depressing story I've ever had to tell. We left London this morning bright and early to get back to Toronto for 1pm get another bus to get to Parry Sound. When we arrived in Toronto, I found out that the guy who'd I spoken to on the phone had wrongly told me that there was a 1pm bus to Parry Sound. So I figured we'd just wait around for the next one. When I enquired as to when that would be, I was told not until 8pm this evening. So that was out. I flagged down a cab and asked him how much he'd do the trip to Parry Sound for. He told me he'd drop to $400 and no lower. I tried phoning the credit card company back home to raise my limit so I could take the cab, but the number rang out. So I didn't have that much money to spend for a taxi. Next we went back to the station and I asked about car rentals. We got directions to some place, and rushed up a couple of blocks in the lashing rain. Managed to get the car and insurance all in for $120, which wasn't bad for a 21-year-old who drives on the opposite side of the road. So I got directions from the guy at the car rental, who said it was pretty straight-forward and I shouldn't need a map, and we headed off on the trip. I think we left about 5pm, which was really cutting it fine. Anyway, basically, after we got out of town, we were told to go on the 401 West and then the 400 North. The problem was, I wasn't clear as to when I'd exit the 401 for the 400, but I figured once I was on the 401, I'd be okay. One of two things happened: 1. The guy gave us wrong directions, and we should have gone 401 East. 2. I missed the turn-off. It doesn't matter which. The point is, at 8pm, I'd driven for nearly three hours [traffic downtown was terrible] and was on the 401, still frantically looking for the 400 exit. So I finally found a turn-off to a gas station, and asked, pleaded, begged that the guy tell me we were going the right way. We weren't. In fact, he told us that it'd probably take six or seven hours to get to Parry Sound from where we'd ended up. Now, I'm in a hotel in Mississauga, trying to remember if I've ever felt so miserable and defeated in my life. Matthew Good personally replied to me eMail yesterday and told me that he would meet me after the show. Maybe that doesn't sound like a huge deal to some of you that have met him before, but I nearly collapsed when I opened the eMail this morning. Seeing him live in London was absolutely outstanding and worth every penny and the years of waiting, but if I could have seen him tonight, in the front row, and then meet him after the show would have been one of the greatest moments of my life. No exaggeration. I'm totally fucked. We're flying home on Sunday morning, so tomorrow night's show is the only other show I can make. It's in Kingston, wherever that is [i'm researching as I type to see how to get there and back in time for my flight]. But maybe it's already sold out. So I'm asking for a huge favour. I feel so cheeky even thinking of asking this, but I'm so desperate that I feel like I have nothing to lose. Would anybody with a ticket in Kingston by any chance be in a position to sell it to me? I'll pay over the odds, no problem, because denying someone the opportunity to see Matthew Good live is a very costly thing. Guys, I completely apologise for asking, and moderators, if this is inappropriate and you wish to remove the post, that's completely fine. I just thought I'd give it a shot, because I don't think at this stage I've anything else to lose. Thanks so much. - Corm -

Hey all, Well, after eight years of being a fan in Ireland, I've arrived in Toronto, and am going to tomorrow's show in London, as well as Friday's show in Parry Sound. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to finally get the chance to see Matt Good in concert, but if anyone's around at either show and wants to talk about the man himself, I'll be a ready converser! Since I'm travelling around, I won't be able to get the setlists up right away, so hopefully others see to that. I will post reviews when I get home and calm down enough to string sentences together. Anyway, if there are people going to either show and you want a beer [or eight] afterwards, I'll be hanging around ;) Cheers, - Corm -
