Seriously man, you must have a problem? Why must you make a snide remark about everything in order to pretend that you have some sort of superiour know-it-all air to yourself. Here's a little bit of information you may not be aware of: You don't need to post on every single thread, you're allowed to keep your mouth shut sometimes. Also, if you don't like something, you can say it in a way that's not malicious or designed to make the person whose post you're commenting on look like an idiot with poor taste. I mean, really man, get some tact. Personally I don't care if you like this band or not, I'm just trying to expand people's horizons, give them a little something new to listen to if they're interested in that genre. So while I know being a jackass to people on a message board is probably the highlight of your day, maybe you should find something else to get off to.

Ok, so my post about Rival Schools, Quicksand and Walter Schreifels didn't go over too well... so I'm gonna try this instead. These guys are from Chicago, and they've released 4 full-length albums and a number of EPs since 1999 (5 full length if you count their recent B-side compilation "cocktails and dreams") As far as modern punk bands go, these guys have have it all, cool and meaningful lyrics, an awsome sound that makes every song memorable in it's own way, they're an all around good band. They're from Chicago and only really tour in the states, so I can't attest to their live sound, but their recorded stuff has been amazing, especially their last three albums, Apathy and Exhaustion, The Greatest Story Ever Told, and Cocktails and Dreams. If you're not a fan already you should check them out.

So am I the only one who thinks the simpler live version is better? When you discount the obvious sound quality difference. I mean, the recorded one is good and all, but I would have preferred if it stayed closer to what was recorded live.

Hey, me again, you know, that guy that always does this? Just curious as to whether anyone's a fan of Rival Schools or Quicksand, both fronted by Walter Schreifels. I like them both but much prefer the tonned down Rival Schools stuff from 2001 off the album United By Fate. I really got into them about 3 years ago, but then lost all the music when I formatted my computer and forgot how much I liked them. Recently I redownloaded the album. Anyone else into these bands? If you havn't heard of them you should give them a try.

I'm seeing the Constantines this tuesday. And no they don't actually suck, they do an amazing live show.

You're gonna hate me when I tell you this: I found my copy of the original Constantines release used for $12 ;) Shoulder's Flower Drum Song EP (which was available only on 7") http://chrwradio.com/mp3/1995/Shoulder%20-...g/shoulder2.htm and the Touch CD http://chrwradio.com/mp3/1995/Shoulder%20-...ch/shoulder.htm However the real Touch CD has 21 tracks total, instead of the 18 listed here, and some of these tracks are misnamed/out of order, but you can still hear them all nonetheless. Those should keep you satisfied until you can get the new Cons release :angry:

Anyone here ever heard of Shoulder? It's the band that Bryan Webb (lead singer) and Doug MacGregor (drummer) of the Constantines were in way before they were the Constantines. The Shoulder CD - "Touch" is really hard to come by, and is more of a compilation of everything Shoulder recorded with lots of instrumental tracks interspersed with the ones with singing. There are some good constantinesish sounds on there, though a lot more raw, and closer to their punk roots, since I'd call the Constantines melodic post punk. Touch is really hard to find, I have 2 copies only because one was scratched to hell, I got my 2nd off of Ebay for $5 including shipping because no one else bid. But I havn't seen another copy since. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this CD or has a copy? I'm a huge Cons fan I have #273/1000 of the original release of their self title (with the original match stick, if you know what I'm talking about, and in excellent condition, and signed by all the band members), as well as all their EPs, Modern Sinner Nervous Man, Nighttime Anytime, and the extremely hard to find Young Lions single (which you could only get through radio stations or on their tour) Easily my third favourite band after Matthew Good and Radiohead.

They're ok, not really my thing, a little too happy for me. Also, don't get disheartened that no one's paying attention to your thread, I try to get people into new bands too and no one pays attention either. If it's not painfully mainstream music this crowd won't get into it.

Sound more like Bowie if you ask me, but I can see what you're saying, kinda like a cross between the two. Nice to hear a band going back to a more simple sound.

They're a 4-member band from New York that as far as I can tell released this one 6-track EP and then disappeared off the face of the earth, but the EP, in my opinion, is amazing, here are the tracks.
