  1. i'm glad i havent been keeping up with the demos this time.
  2. while i agree his performance was excellent, i don't really see it as being oscar worthy. not because it was lacking something, but because the oscars generally don't think highly of comic book-related/fantasy films. i think it would be nice if he did get recognized by the academy, but at the same time, they've managed to demonstrate time and time again that they're out of touch with the world of film (although last year was a bit surprising). i won't be upset if he doesnt get nominated or win. anyways, the film was fantastic. the story was great (it was interesting to see nolan tell a linear story, i was worried that his style was going to become a bit gimmicky if he had insisted on flashbacks or whatnot), the performances were excellent, and it was all very true to the characters and story of batman, while also not adhering to it so much that the film was either predictable or unimaginative. i also liked that the director/writers of the film felt comfortable with what they had done in the first film to constantly test and leave room open for criticism of batman this time around. i'm seeing it again tonight hopefully, but this time in imax!
  3. the ads for this thread are hilarious.
  4. cowboy hats: yet another reason why i hated my undergrad. why do people reach a certain age and then start thinking that (popular) country is somehow awesome to listen to?
  5. i spoke to them 2 or 3 years ago and they also think it's their best.
  6. don't long island iced teas have a lot of booze in them?
  7. ahahah yes you are. my major beef at the moment has to be the tiny album art.
  8. now i don't drink coolers because i think they taste awful, but i did when i was younger, and i don't understand the stigma behind doing such a thing. why is drinking a guiness, that's like 4% alcohol any "manlier" than drinking a cooler which is 5%? who gives a shit? disown your friend.
  9. they emailed everybody about two or three weeks ago with a link to the beta site. i like it. i dont think the changes really make it "another myspace"... they just enhance the site's ability to be a social network, which is what it's been to begin with. if anything, i think certain aspects of it being a "social" site are questionable (i.e. your shoutbox being at the bottom of the page). i am surprised though that CBS bought them. never knew that.
  10. it's loading faster for me now. before i wsn't even able to log in. i'm just happy it continues to scrobble my music plays. the layout isnt TOOOOO bad... but it just looks incomplete with all the white. and leaving the comment box on the bottom? comeonnnnn. i like that you can finally go bck and see ALL of your comments that people have written on your page, finally. i was worried they were lost forever. have you guys checked out your recommendations? mine are far superior to what they used to be... what i mean by that is, they actually look like bands that are a) actually related to my current listening habits and b) bands that i would be interested in checking out (or have expressed interest in already). FINALLY THEYVE STOPPED TELLING ME TO LISTEN TO RED HOT CHILI PEPPERSSSS!
  11. i dont like all the white-space, and the layout is kindof counter-intuitive, but the features are cool. i like being able to see my "history"... so that i can actually keep up with discussions and what not, rather than post once and then forget where i posted something. EDIT: suddenly i have more plays than before.... ok. i can handle that. EDIT EDIT: actually, that's not true. same amount of plays. but boy does my top 8 or whatver make me feel generic. also, MY HITLER DOESN'T DANCE!!! HOW CAN THEY NOT SUPPORT .GIFs FOR AVATARSSSSS??!?!??!?!
  12. hopefully he goes to jail, and then ed does an episode of "ed's up" as a prison guard...
  13. it's nice (especially since it's so rare for people to cover mr. good), but there's nothing that sets this cover apart from the original (aside from the fact that the original is better). so in my mind, it's a nice gesture that points to matt as being a great songwriter, but doesn't do anything for the lady doing the covering.
  14. saaaaame. i can't stop playing.
  15. i don't know if there are any plans in the near future to start up another star trek television franchise, but i was recently browsing through io9 and came upon this article, which i thought was pretty interesting. http://io9.com/386985/captain-wesley-crush...gative-services thoughts? i'm not sure if wil wheaton could carry a show by himself, but i like the idea of taking him and a smallish crew throughout space to solve mysteries and to explore the unknown. the blogger who wrote the article called it "like CSI in space" but i'd be gearing more towards "x-files in space". i think that'd be a cool twist for star trek, and i think wheaton would at least peak the interest of people who were fans of TNG but not realy anything afterwards (like me! ... but voyager was ok).
  16. what he said. i'm on level 19 at the moment.
  17. oh god is that what i look like when i air guitar by myself? this game is also good if you are bored: http://oos.moxiecode.com/examples/cubeoban/
  18. you're right, those albums aren't 80s pop, because they were released in the 90s. aside from their singles, tears for fears had nothing going on in the 80s. they aren't the worst band, but they are among the worst bands of the 80s.
  19. THEY WERE ON THE NEW MUSIC?!?!?! fuck much music has gone down the tube.
  20. i agree with the two above me.
  21. how old is your friend? if anyone is older than 14 and still likes this band, then they'll get what's coming to them. EDIT: sorry christing. but now you know, and you'll be a better person for it, i promise. spread the hate!
  22. i hate this band. they should not exist. join me and revolt. i'd embed this video but we caaaaaannnttttt modedit: but now you caaan!
  23. captain & tennille, hall & oates, journey, whitesnake, foreigner, loverboy, r.e.o speedwagon, jefferson starship, grace jones, soft cell, menudo, sheena easton
  24. it's growing on me. i wish you could actually hear cat power's contribution on "orphans" though. i think i like the title track and "youthless" the most so far. "gamma ray" is also good, but there's nothing really to it. the album sounds boring because of danger mouse's shitty production. i kinda miss the old beck.
