i dont think so... if you are a fan of the past, you "must" be a fan of the present because there's nothing which has changed so so much for someone to stop liking Matt/Matt's music... he hasnt changed his voice to worse, he hasnt changed his music to a completely different style... i dont know, i guess that if i like his stuff i wouldnt have any reason not to like him anymore...

Well... this is just to humbly thank this forum, to thank Near Fantastica, to thank all the people in this forum 1. for giving me the possibility for the first time in my live to express my devotion for Matt and his music; 2. for letting me express all my opinions on many topics (specially on MG); 3. for letting me share my insights and my feelings with other people who share a common like: Matt and his music; 4. for providing me with so MUCH material - either thru Near Fantastica or the Hub - that i would've never been able to get without this site; 5. for reading my - sometimes - looooooong messages and answering them ;); 6. for giving me so much happiness and satisfaction talking about Matt and his music; and, of course, thank you Crusader, Danimal and Guitarchick for creating and keeping this webpage and the forum alive Thank you everybody who is around here. Does Billboard give any number on fans? how many people do normally go to his concerts? do they take place in big stadiums or small concerts pubs/bars?

gun registery has always been an obligation in Spain... actually, there is a law which prohibits to carry weapons not even for self-defence reasons... the law says that in case of danger, the police forces will take care of the situation but that no citizen is legitimated to carry a weapon... that's probably the reason why guns (or any kinda weapons) are not so much installed within the Spanish society and why we don't have so many problems with serial killers as the US has i think this is exactly what Alert status red is denouncing...

yes, yes, yes!!! ;) that's exactly what my buddy said once: "how can you juanpe listen to this song if its so depressing, how can you like it?" and I almost killed him! I said "it's not depressing, it's intimate, it's got a meaning, it makes me feel things that i dont feel with other songs, it's got an effect on me that other songs dont have" ... and i asked him to shut up and let me listen quietly to the song! :angry: ((sorry guys if this is being Off topic, i will stop here :angry: ))

anytime i listen to that song i feel speechless, when i'm working on something i normally have music in the background and when i hear Matt singing that song i have to stop doing whatever i'm doing and listen to it, i dont even sing it aloud, i just move my mouth singing the song but without uttering any of the words in the song... just feeling it, just getting it inside me, just thinking of the words, just enjoying the music, the lyrics, Matt's voice alltogether... this doesnt happen to me with any other Matt's song among all his songs, not even with any other bands'/singers' songs... i dont know, u may think this is weird, but it has some sorta strange effect on me... but it is always a possitive feeling, no matter i'm feeling high or down in my mood ;) I'm sure you perfectly understand me...

i coincide with you in many of your top 20 ;) not in others but, for example, top number 1 has always been (and it is still) the same as yours "the rat who would be king"... so far this is the only song that i always feel like listening no matter my mood and the feeling, the shivers down my spine, are always the same... *sigh* gosh, i love that song... thanx for sharing with us your top 20

... and each person feels different things with different songs... each person has his/her favorite songs (as each person has his/her favorite poems, his/her favorite books, movies, etc.)... so don't worry about what other people may think... your top 20, loveisnotenough, is YOUR top 20

it definetely shows you are a very devoted Matt's fan... I dont know if i would be patient enough to decide on the top 20 songs from him... each song has something special which makes me feel different things in different moments... i havent changed in my top number 1, but the rest? gosh, i dont know... sometimes i love a song which gets pretty close to top number 1 but other times, in a different mood, i start loving another one which steps over the previous one... maybe i should do something like what you've done: write something about each song, what i like from it, what i don't like from it, in which moment i prefer to listen to certain song, what effect that song has on me, whether that effect is anytime i listen to that song or it is in a very specific moment... dont know if i would be able to have all Matt's songs on a row and try to rank the top 20...

bands and singers normally rehearse their songs before giving a concert... that's also part of their "job", as danimal says

off topic: I suppose that if you dont sing some songs pretty often you forget their lyrics and you need to refresh them from time to time... with respect to the songs he sings lately: both the Avalanche or the WLRRR tours include songs from previous albums except from AOB ;) the only song i have seen in the concerts I downloaded from the Hub is "under the influence" (I may be wrong and there are other concerts in which he included more songs from the AOB album) and I have a live file of "advertising on police cars" but I don't know which concert it belongs to...

in the case of AOB and for those personal reasons that we all know, even MGB underrated their own album (understandable? not understandable? that's another poing...) and they dont even sing songs from that album in their tours...

that's what i mean: of course I also sing all the songs at concerts, but I never scream the words so that other people can get annoyed by my screams (and specially if i'm not a professional singer and the way i sing is not perfect as an artist ;) )... what annoys me is when there are people screaming the words of the songs we are listening to... i can't stand that!!!

difficult, man!!! ;) thinking of Matt's deep, sweet voice and the feelings he provokes in me when i hear his songs, i would say P.J. Harvey (a British singer)... her voice is also very deep and sweet, she really feels her songs and makes you "fly away" when you hear her songs... probably the music is not exactly the same (as I said in other posts here, i havent found a similar singer/band yet as Matt) but what her music makes me feel is more or less the same as Matt does...

I guess he does... I suppose he's aware of the fact that there are many fans who love his music and what you say: as an artist - not as a person - probably he is nothing without us because we are the ones who give him feedback, who sing his songs, who enjoy his songs, who get emotional with his songs, who feel his songs (as Placebo's song "Without you I'm nothing", decicated to their fans, as they once said in an interview...)... if i was an artist, i would have things very clear: I would be as my fans would want me to be

i love the live shows ;) I can "daydream" with being in a real concert listening to Matt... I've got some complete concerts from the Hub and I don't get tired of listening to them...
