  1. then prices are pretty similar ;) because 1 Euro is around $1.10 US
  2. exactly, each song is like a poem and as most of the poems it may mean different things for different people... since we were not inside Matt's head when he was writing Buffalo seven, we don't really know the purpose or the original meaning of the song... unless he tells us what he means by the song ;)
  3. ... and make me feel what i feel when i hear his songs ;)
  4. ok, i understand now ;) i was wondering that if it was made up of some pieces it should've been a very hard work!! and actually it seems to have been... great job, Hungte
  5. totally agree with you ;) you explained it better than me (that's the advantage of being a native speaker of English!!)... really true Matt's fans? well, i guess that at least in Canada, being one of the most famous groups, there must be a bunch of real fans who enjoy his music, his voice, his personality, his lyrics, his social and political commitment... some friends of mine who have just read some of his lyrics find them really good, deep, sweet and with a lot of meaning... i hope i can convince more people in Madrid that Matt is a great artirst
  6. I said that because there are many politically-committed spanish bands and when i go to their concerts, it is full of teenagers who have only heard a song on the radio and they like that song just because it is "fashionable" but they dont worry about what the song means, they just enjoy the music and that's it (which i perfectly respect, of course!)... again, i'm talking about it from my experience in Spain: with all the political and social issues we have had in the last 8 years in Spain (and in the whole world), hardly any teenager was on the streets demonstrating and complaining about, for example, the illegal invasion in Irak... and there are many bands in Spain who sang about that issue in the last year and in their concerts you asked teenagers "but do you really understand what the song is about?" and they just answered "i don't care what the message of the song is, i just enjoy dancing it and that's it"... i'm not "damning" teenagers, of course not... i am not a teenager any more but when i was a teenager i had other things in my mind (not specially political or social issues) which were "appropriate" for my age... I don't know, now i've realized that you dont have to be an adult to worry about what you have surronding you, everybody (teenagers, adults) should worry about politics and social issues... and i guess that is what happens with MG songs, probably there are many teenagers (and also adults, i'm sure of that) who dont really research the meaning(s) of Matt's songs... (sorry, this must be too much Off Topic, right? ;) )
  7. Since M. Moore's movie hasn't been released in Spain yet, I'd like to know how people in the States, Canada or other parts of the world have reacted towards the movie: what's the general impression, how the American government is reacting to it, whether it is having much effect on people's opinions, etc. Thanx ;)
  8. still dont understand, sorry ;) it must be that English is not my first language and there's something i'm not getting...
  9. the prices seem to be very similar to the ones we have in Spain, although in spanish festivals, each music day is composed of around 10 hours of music (there are 4 or 5 main bands/singers and then around 7 or 8 minor bands/singers) ;) non-stop music!!! imagine how tired we finish after each of these festivals!!! but the price of the ticket is worth paying for so much music
  10. when you talk about $, do you talk about american or canadian dollars? how much is a canadian dollar? a Euro is more or less 1,10 american dollar (don't know how much it is in canadian dollars) the regular price of concerts in Spain is around $30 (american dollars) and when you go to one of this festivals, it is even cheaper because you pay that amount (30 american $) and you have around 4 or 5 bands playing... I'm gonna go to a Festival next week and, for example, a day ticket is 30 € and you've got the same day Lou Reed, The Cure, Starsailor and Muse ;) if you buy a kinda "whole-festival-ticket" it is 70€ for a three-day concert (with around 12 bands/singers playing) If you have a concert in a bar/pub/stadium or something like that, it depends on the band: from 20€ to 50€: last Placebo show was 35€, last Coldplay show was 40€, last Travis show was 25€,...
  11. how did u make that poster? did u put some parts together or is it a complete Matt's pic enlarged?
  12. listen to "the war is over" and pay special attention to the lyrics ;) "ommissions of the omen" is a great song, too  its my 3rd favorite one in that album...
  13. i can't wait to be able to download them from somewhere and be able to hear them ;)
  14. i love "haven't slept in years" AND "the war is over" ;) such great songs...
  15. how are you so sure about that? ;)
  16. wouldn't you say that the USA (excuse me, not America ;): America is the whole continent) lives on this gun/weapon culture? are not Americans kinda "obsessed" with this self-defence idea and for that reason guns/weapons are so free to get? One course at the university is American History and Culture and this is one of the characteristics which is expressed in all American Culture books I have read...
  17. i needed to listen to WLRRR more times than previous albums to get into it... but in the end, after listening to it as many times as I have, i really love it ;)

    DVD

well, neways, i missed that site because i dont have the original copy of the album... oh well...
  19. that's true... I dont know him personally but that's the feeling I have, that he is very interested in people's opinions, points of view, critiques, etc... I wrote him twice and he answered me both times (he hasn't answered to the bd e-mail we sent him yet but i guess eventually he will do it)... that's not very common with artists, they are always so busy, so pressed by time that they dont normally have time to answer other people's e-mails or forums... or they are not as interested in other people's opinions as Matt is...
  20. i want him to tour in Europe!!!! ;) I won't ever see him live...
  21. try, it works... I have gotten most of my Matt stuff from there, even complete concerts from last year's tour, from previous tours and from the current 2004 tour
  22. I think that with respecto to political connotations, WLRRR is "stronger" and more clear in its political tendency than the previous ones, more socially committed and denouncing more political issues... maybe because the world - with respect to politics and social issues - is going mad i dont know if current teenagers who listen to Matt's songs are really aware of the political issues he treats in his songs...
  23. I have read Camus' Exile (pretty good, deep and a masterpiece) and of course Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment (another masterpiece)... I dont know the rest but these two ones are a great choice... I'm reading 3 books right now: Dude, where's my country? by M. Moore, Paul Auster's Book of illusions and a social-political book called "The McDonalisation of society" by George Ritzer i'd send Matt one as a bd gift but i dont know his address...
  24. ;) i'm glad you really liked it, Danimal
