  1. Wow, a lot of people are younger than I thought. Especially guitarchick and kumquat.
  2. Brandon would say anything to earn Meg's favour.
  3. You just have no appreciation of culture.
  4. Like alligators in your toilet.
  5. While we're on the topic of metaphors, I have something to say. The next time a musician writes a song in which they refer to "losing" a "game", I'm going to personally kick their ass.
  6. Sigh... Adam wants to buy himself The City of Falling Angels audio book from iTunes... but he is 14 dollars short. And since he doesn't have a credit card, he'll have to shell out another 20 for an iTunes gift card which he'll take back home and then yeah. You know what? I hate the system. But I'm going to do it anyways and report back. They were running a bunch of samples from the book on Slate.com's daily podcast, and it sounded simply amazing.
  7. Okay, this is the greatest line ever from the Talented Mr. Ripley: "Officially, there are no Italian homosexuals, which makes Leonardo and Michelangelo look rather convenient."
  8. Bees that make milk are "boo bees". What gives?
  9. I got the boo bees thing, but what the hell does "boo" have to do with making milk?
  10. You got to see money growing on trees in Alberta? Damn. I've been there a few times (although not for Christmas, which probably makes a difference) and all I got to see were a few lousy mountains and an oil field. Besides that, if you want to pay for your share (and BC's share, and Manitoba's share, and Saskatchewan's share, and the Yukon's, NWT's and Nunavut's share) of the debt, well, I'm sure nobody in Ottawa would refuse the cheque. Although I have to admit, I'm confused by the yin and yang thing. If Alberta wants to form its own country, why would it want to bring the treehuggers from B.C. along? That would kind of... umm... ruin everything, wouldn't it? And do tell me why the treehuggers in B.C. would want to go along with the experiment. Sssh! Don't let Matt hear you talking about proportional representation. As a Green Party advocate, you can probably imagine that I wouldn't exactly be aversed to having mixed member proportional representation implemented in Ottawa. Go ahead and swear, we don't really pay attention to that.
  11. I mixed alcohol and codeine and acetominophen once. Nothing happened. Probably because there wasn't much of the former left in my system and very little alcohol introduced. A glass of wine at most, and that's not very much.
  12. I don't get it.
  13. The Rhino party doesn't exist anymore.
  14. I hate to burst your bubble, but the reason why whoever wins in Ontario usually forms the government is because so much more of the population is out here. It's not because we're evil power leeches, it's because we're bigger (and, of course, better) than you. By the way, I think it's awfully nice of Alberta to want to take the entire western and northern part of the country out with them. Then you'd get to be the only "have" province and would have no reason to complain about giving to the "have-nots", because you'd bring it upon yourselves. Also, I just noticed that you wanted to hear what I had to say. I'm flattered, really, but I'll have you know I wrote the above without knowing you had specifically asked for my thoughts. P.S. To add to what I said above, the majority of Quebec seats went to the Bloc Quebecois in the last election, but the Bloc didn't form a government, so doesn't Quebec effectively have no representation? And you don't see them trying to... well, no, that's a bad example. But if you're serious about seperation, we'll hand you the bill for your share of the national debt on your way out.
  15. Children, it is "festivus", not "festivest".
  16. Your mom's. It's funny 'cause it's true.
  17. Aye. You're telling me. Either way, it certainly isn't a bad ski, and there's no reason why I a) won't be able to use them on moguls with proficiency (as I've been using hand-me-down skis all my life up until this point), or B) buy another pair of skis in the future for backcountry/powder purposes. I do plan on keeping these skis for quite a few years to come, though, as I've pretty much stopped growing and I'll be off to university next year.
  18. See, the problem is that companies list the price of the skis at 800 bucks a pair, but the store will sell them for maybe half that. So you just don't know what you're going to pay for. Secondly, I live in Toronto, far away from any "mountain". So yeah. And also, I suggested to my mom that we go somewhere that actually sells a proper selection of skis and whose staff actually know what's going on (i.e. Sporting Life) and she promptly bitched at me that the skis there cost more and so it wasn't worth going there. She's extremely cheap, so yeah. I had initially been looking at Atomic Beta Carv 9-18's, which were suggested by an employee at Sport Chek who seemed extremely knowledgable. We went back a week later, and another employee told us they had just got a brand new ski in (the one we bought) since we came which would suit my purposes better. They cost 20 bucks more and were a brand new model (as opposed to the three year old Atomics), so I figured this would be better. The more I think about it, the more I realize I should have gone to Sporting Life because they actually know what they're doing when it comes to selling skis.
  19. That news makes me want to kill myself. Why haven't I heard of these "mountain days"?
  20. I got new Rossignol Zeniths. I'm going to Jay Peak, Vermont next week, so I'll get a chance to check them out. I'm always apprehensive about buying new skis, because you never quite know what they'll feel like until it's too late, so you have to trust the sales guy and hope. These skis are apparently extremely stiff and should be good for mogul/powder skiing (not quite backcountry), but the guy said it would take some getting used to. Hm.
  21. When I'm away at university (next year) I plan to make use of the gym facilities. But right now, I don't know. Besides that, the stationary bikes and treadmills at this gym are all lined up along a window. You get people standing outside in front of the fat ones eating ice cream.
  22. Let's face it, a female pope will be spending all her time cooking for the college of cardinals.
  23. They're also the ones drinking that piss. Besides, the only ones who have the right to act superior about their beer are the Europeans.
  24. Go ahead and have some of mine... I don't need them much anymore. And I've had enough fun with them already... I don't want to take 2 and just waste away the good mood by myself. But seriously though, I really did enjoy the complete lack of anxiety. I think it was worth getting 8 teeth pulled out. In fact, I've found this whole experience rather enjoyable for some reason, despite the discomfort and swelling. It is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. P.S. I would like to get out to the gym and excercise, but I really ... sorta ... can't. Between school and homework and not doing homework, there's just no time. There's a gym right by my school, but I mean... eh. I definitely need to put on some weight, though, as I'm 6'1 and barely 150 pounds. But I don't know if that'd cure the anxiety thing. Sitting on a stationary bike in the presence of overweight soccer moms won't break the feeling that I'm being fenced in by people. Eh.
  25. She's saying that since they're learning to and able to drive a car without having graduated high school, what difference does it make if we let them continue driving even if they're not graduating? Although that argument is flawed, because once someone turns 18, they're not being denied their driver's license anymore.
