May not be original, but it's in the contract of nearly every major label band. Most contracts are for 6-7 albums plus a disc of rarities and a greatest hits. Of course, it's generally the label's option what of that they want to release. But it's usually not something a band can decline: more often than not, it's going to happen whether the band likes it or not. Seriously, there are bands with three albums and one hit with GH's. Offering the GH means that the label can pull the two albums that didn't sell out of print.

I read the subject as "Looking for an Oomplete List of Songs". Doo pa dee doo.
-
Sez you. BTW - "Oh Be Joyful" = "Seriously Serious" with new lyrics.
-
Thank ya! Strangely, it's Matt Good related. It's an easter egg on the enhanced part of the Avalanche CD. (When the first screen comes up, click around the tip of the mountain and you'll see the full pic in all its glory.) ;)

Definitely a setlist, more than likely from one of the May 2002 dates. What I would do to see a show like that. Damn.
-
Did you pull the tracklisting through iTunes or Gracenote/CDDB? It may have just pulled the wrong "Beautiful Midnight".
-
Honestly, most of the time, they did play the same crap as MTV. Sometimes worse. There was a video by a band called Hot Action Cop that they played regularly back then that was one of the worst songs/videos I've ever seen. The trick was that during the early overnight hours, they'd simulcast MuchMusic Canada. I was working nights at home back then, and would occasionally flip it on for background noise. Most often, I'd think of it whichever night Ed the Sock's Big Wham Bam was on, and I think that's where I saw Anti-Pop. (I saw Apparitions on that show once, but it didn't strike me at the time.) But, honestly, MMCanada played a lot of crap, too, especially during Ed's show. American crap is pretty easy to ignore, but Canadian crap gets tons and tons of airplay (in Canada) cause of that whole Canadian Content thing. Oof. ;)

Yeah, I caught Anti-Pop on MuchMusic USA in early '02. I only sorta liked the song, but really dug the video, so I had no plans to delve into the catalog. Then I heard a couple of tracks from Avalanche and decided I had to buy it. The rest is history.

He already wrote an album that sounds like Beautful Midnight. It's called Beautiful Midnight, and it's available at a record store near you.

I doubt it'd be so limited that you'd miss out. Loser Anthems was out for a good long while before it was completely unavailable. Regardless, if you're that worried, pre-order the thing via CDPlus.com, Amazon.ca, or the official site.

http://www.ucomics.com/ziggy/2005/05/30/ It all started there. ;) (Link will toast itself on Tuesday.)

Damn. I was hoping it was Garfield.
-
Didn't I see that in Garfield a couple of weeks ago?

I believe the plan is that there will be a one-disc version with just the hits and a "limited edition" version with the hits, the bonus cd, and the dvd. That is, unless they decide to do something really crappy, like sell two limited edition packs, one with the dvd and one with the bonus cd. If that happens, I may have to zip up to Toronto to smack around some Universal execs.

There seemed to be a problem late last night, where the site wasn't coming up at all. Looked like a server move or something.
-
Yeah, the best plan is to just check Ebay from time to time without alerting the boards. Like this: there's been a Loser Anthems for US$40 Buy It Now for a couple of days. Most people don't check Ebay often. (Checks watch to see how long it takes for it to sell.)
-
Haha, you got the Clean version.
-
Every copy of BM has those songs except the US version. So if you're not missing them, you don't have the US version. The US version has remixes of "Deep Six" (labelled "Deep 6ix"), "Apparitions", and "Everything Is Automatic" in place of "I Miss New Wave", "Let's Get It On", and "Going All the Way". Also, "Hello Time Bomb", "Strange Days", and "Load Me Up" are remixes. All of the remixes were made by Chris Lord-Alge (who mixed Green Day's American Idiot, among many others). In my honest opinion, the remixes are inferior to the originals except "Hello Time Bomb". The remixes are generally more "rock", but Lord-Alge's snare drum sound is muddy and sounds like cardboard. I like certain ideas in the remixes (ie, removing the echoed vocals during the verses of "Load Me Up"), but I think the original mixes (with the exception of HTB) just sound cleaner. There's just something about the original HTB mix that bugs me. Can't quite put my finger on it.

The Failure version was so good that DM basically grabbed Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) to remix the original to sound like it. At least, that's how it sounded to me.

Okay, fingers crossed, Windows Media sample of the original "Standing in the Shadows of Love": link If not, check Amazon: link Or iTunes. I believe the MG mashup started out here. There were a bunch of Motown mashups that cropped up around the same time. I think the best one I heard was a Clash / Stevie Wonder one called "Casbah Wonder".

Matthew Good - In A Coma Due This Fall!
uglyredhonda replied to i'm indestructable's topic in Matthew Good
Word on the street is that the GH will not have new material, as parties didn't seem enamored with the stuff. Then again, I'm not sure what street this came from. -
True. But it's not like this is some totally left-field thing. CS Lewis wrote a book called "Letters to Malcolm" that was written entirely in the form of letters to an imaginary person named Malcolm. (Haven't read it, found a reference on Google.) There have been a lot of books like that. Also, what he's doing now isn't unlike what goes on with Merle's blog. Little do we know, Matt's secretly messaging his friend Carmen. /cue Rockafella

Good grief. It's a literary device. Kinda like "Dear Diary".
-
Hey Geoff - Was "Rico" written through a band jam? I always wondered with it being the one Underdogs song credited to the whole band.
-
Yeah, but that won't happen. Universal would never release such a thing, as it completely defeats the purpose of a best-of/greatest-hits. Discs like that are targetted towards people who like a band/performer's songs but not enough to purchase the albums. Leave off the songs most semi-fans know, and they won't touch the thing. And the serious fans already have them all.
