Best Winnipeg Band
sodamntired replied to driftinginfluence's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Transistor Sound and Lighting Co. ok, not current, but easily the best. -
my ex's pressure to get me to buy her a ring and marry her was one of the major reasons i broke up with her. example of everyday conversation: "you should buy me a diamond." "i don't have the money to buy your a ring right now...plus, i'd like to graduate college and get a career before i think about getting married." "pretty please?" "that doesn't really put the money in my chequing account." "well...you can take out a loan and pay it back a little bit at a time." "thats exactly what i need. more bills that i can struggle to pay off." "fine. you don't love me" <don't talk for 3 days> <make up sex> "you should buy me a ring." and this repeated and I put up with it longer than I really should have. but now its over and i couldn't be happier.

if you could see any band(s) in concert, still together, broken up, never existed, whatever, who would it be? my line up, you ask? well, it would look something like this. Pluto opens Followed by The Matthew Good Band (beautiful midnight era) and concluding with The Sex Pistols (77 era) its a complete music spazz/dork question, but I thought it was a good topic.

ahhh, if i were you, i would predict the same thing of me. but i already have a date with a new girl on tuesday and i have another job lined up (that pays better) ...and the girl i have a date with smokes...so you're probably right about the smoke thing  but still feeling good about myself ;)

when i worked at the used cd store in Moorhead, Minnesota (i got fired from there today :S) this customer came in.......told me that he really liked the matthew good (band) and that he had a copy of Black Market Surgery. he told me that he didn't really like it and that he was going to give it to me...free of charge. didn't really see him after that though....

quitting smoking is going really well...so far. i'm only on my first day.....but i have not smoked at all today. i've heard (from SuperSize Me) the trick is to see if you can make it 3 days without smoking. then you can get over smoking. its looking good so far.

Let's see...what have I cut from my life... 1) broke up with my manipulative, needy girlfriend 2) quit smoking 3) quit/fired from job that I hated it. I'm telling you...a little bit of advice I can pass on to anyone in the need of it: If something is really stressing you out in your life...and you can get rid of it...do it!!! that's all i had to say. worthless topic, i know, but i'm just feeling that damn good right now. ;)

so...i was on archive.org and i searched for my old website i made in the 10th grade...so....7 years ago. and back then...i was a huge blink 182 fan. i tell you...i'm reading some of the things i wrote back then...and if i could go back in time and who i am now could talk to who i was then...i wouldn't recognize myself. this is my favorite groan-inducing paragraph from the page. "My favorite band of all time. THE premiere punk rock trio of the ninties. Think NOFX meets Pennywise. If you don't know who those two bands are, then think of a sound you have never heard before. Their music is really fast and rocking. If you are uncertain about whether or not you might like punk music, pick up their third album Dude Ranch. It is my number one c.d. I wore it out and may have to buy a new one since now it skips due to wear. Their first album was entitled Buddha which was on very limited release, that is until they rerealesed it to the unsuspecting public a few months ago. Their next album was called Cherish Cat. This is definitely the best Blink 182 album available. It includes their first hit M&M's which is a fun, fast tune about stuff. After this was, of course, Dude Ranch. This was my first Blink 182 album and the start of something big. I figure I have spent over $150 on Blink merchandise which was worth all the money." its greeeeaaaat. i considered blink 182 to be punk rock. and on my page, i even had a blog...before I or anyone knew what a blog was here's my entry on the status of the music industry. "23/04/99 I'm getting really sick of all these teen boppers with their crappy music and their lame dancing. It seems like these music execs just want five good looking people who will drive little girls crazy. The ability to sign seems like it isn't even necessary. I'm pretty sure one of these days we're going to see one of these groups caught for lip synching. (Milli Vanilli anyone?) These groups are getting record deals right on the spot when they go addition at their local mall. This makes it so hard for really good bands to get a record deal. Good punk is so hard to find and it just gets harder when all I see at the music store is backstreet boys and n'sync. This Sucks!!! Of course, the execs will never see the error of their ways because their making so much money off of this crap." ok...i think i'm cooler today then i was then. ;) or at least, i hope so...

Anyone else seen this? Here...I stole the description from IMDB

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. George Clooney directed it. It's about Chuck Barris, host/inventor of the Gong Show and his secret life as a CIA agent. You'll love it. Also, get Rules of Attraction. The darkest/funniest/best movie about college you'll ever see.
