Good question. I know people like to get stuff signed at shows, but I would imagine it would be much easier to carry in a cd than a vinyl. Wish I could make a show this time around. The one time I got to meet him all I had with me for him to sign was the ticket stub hahaa. ETA: I wonder if the cd sales projection is larger than the vinyl. Perhaps they assume that the vinyl won't be a huge seller? I mean, of course diehard collectors will want one but how many of us are out there really? Vinyl is making it's comeback but it might still be risky from a business standpoint.

Yep. That's the same thing that happened with Arrows. I ordered the CD and the vinyl and shipment didn't go out the vinyl was ready. You only paid for one shipping charge so no way they would send them seperately. They still sent the signed cd though so they must have a pretty good system.

Ha, you just made me feel a little old. It's really cool though to see younger people getting into Matt's music. I'm sure you've probably said it before, but when did you start listening to mg, and which album did you come in on?
-
I agree, and it's one of the first things I thought about this album. This is interesting because it seemed like the people who really liked lights were not huge fans of arrows and vice versa. I noticed that the track list switched from on the app. It had Girls in Black directly following Harridan, but on the release, TBTT is sandwiched between. I actually really like that change. I'm still going through the songs that I didn't gravitate to right away, but they have already grown on me. I do like No Liars, it's a fun sing along, but I also agree that it doesn't quite seem to fit, or maybe it's the placement? Seems like it would have been better off next to Girls in Black. I would have loved Night Orders or We Have Done This Before... Went back and had a listen to the Army of Lions demo. I get missing that original arrangement but it's not so far off that I would call it a disappointment, but that is just my opinion, everyone's going to like and dislike different things. Also that was one demo I listened to only once and put on the shelf so I didn't have much of an attachment. Los Alamos. Yeah, the demo had more of that raw emotion in it but it's still a gorgeous song.

Top of my list: 1) mg - Solo Acoustic - Jackson Triggs Winery. Simply gorgeous venue, staff were super helpful and friendly. The weather was perfect, there was wine, we sat front and slightly off center after dinner in the wine cellar and got to watch mg do his thing and drink Pinot. Highlights for me were Avalanche, Primetime Deliverance and Fated. Runner up - acoustic at Antone's in Austin simply for having played both Rabbits and Suburbia. Full Band - 2007 Club Infinity, Buffalo. 2) The Walkmen at Fitzgerald's, Houston 3) Typhoon at One Eyed Jack's in New Orleans 4) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at House of Blues Houston 5) Iron & Wine, Fitzgerald's Houston 6) Rebirth Brass Band at Warehouse Live, Houston and The Maple Leaf, New Orleans Some of the best live music I've seen has been spontaneously in NOLA, usually bands or singers I've never heard or don't catch their names, and never would have run into them otherwise. I also have to agree that Foo Fighters put on a great show. I saw them at ACL in I think 2007 or 2008. I remember leaving the group I was with and getting into the middle of the crowd up front. I prefer to stick with smaller shows these days but a big festival every now and then is fun, though i just wind up feeling very old, and the sound is usually terrible. At that same ACL we saw MGMT and they sucked.

The overall sound of this album is just so rich. It's kind of like a super matured mix of all the other stuff. Warne really did a bang up job, and there are a lot of vocal nuances in there that give it an extra layer of depth and emotion for me.
-
I never even saw it on there and I downloaded the app right after they posted about it. I just now deleted and reinstalled and it is not there.
-
Aw that stinks. Maybe they will do an update to the app to include Windows at some point, hopefully soon!
-
I've got a sealed Vancouver vinyl looking for a good home. I'm in Texas so consider that when thinking of shipping costs. Anyone interested PM me. I'm also possibly willing to trade for an Avalanche related poster or merch.
-
So the whole album is previewing on the new MG app. I could listen to Harridan forever and ever. Well done. ETA: and Cloudbusting. And tiger by the tail. And Los Alamos. I'm really digging the second half of this album.
-
I agree with this I really like we have done this before. I listen to that one a lot. And I'm still really wanting to hear the final version of Los Alamos.
-
Fingers crossed he heads this way around sxsw time again. If he does a Buffalo date I could be persuaded to fly home for a visit.
-
I don't think they respond over the weekend. I emailed them last time after hours regarding the signed cd and heard back early Monday morning.
-
I'm curious if there is still much of a demand for it and similar MG items.
-
Yeah it's the vinyl that is dated for end of October. But if you ordered both you will have to wait, they ship at the same time. I wish they would at least send the digital download code to the vinyl purchasers in September. Ah well.
-
Same here as well!
-
Well it said the first 200 sold in the online store, and they didn't post it til about 830/9ish central time. I would imagine you got in with that first batch but I didn't see any way to decipher it either.
-
There were several hold ups with the vinyl pressing and since I ordered both items had to wait til the vinyl was ready to get the CD. I ended up downloading from iTunes so I could hear it.
-
I got both to avoid paying high shipping twice. Curious, the order says that preordered items begin shipping October 25. I hope I don't get burned like last time with Arrows.
-
Preorder is up in maple music now, vinyl option included. First 200 CDs will be signed. ETA: shipping prices have gone up to the U.S.
-
So much this, exactly what I was hoping for.
-
Nothing showing on iTunes or Amazon for us fans down south. I hope it will be available on the website? And no vinyl?
-
Ooh I would really love Los Alamos in that last spot. The clip he posted from the studio was chilling, I can't wait to hear it.

Hey all, there is a copy of Lo-Fi up on eBay up for bid for anyone interested, priced decent as of right now (around 30 USD). Not my sale but thought I'd link for y'all. http://m.ebay.com/itm/191550050887?nav=SEARCH

I think I remember that image on the website and he had said they came from someone he knew, a family member or friend maybe? For some reason that sounds familiar. ETA: Ah here, "painting by Trudy Good" http://www.matthewgood.org/news/2015/1/3/missed-one-demo-up
