  1. Because Matt is so open about his life his posts are very focussed on the moment. As a result, Matt tends to give hints about the songs he's writing be they stylistic clues, pieces of lyrics, titles, etc. If you're a devote MG blog reader some of these titles may have been very easy to piece together. None of these are by any means certain, merely my guesses. The ones with the '(??)' I'm shakey on... the missing two I'm completely out to lunch on.
  2. 1. Can't Get Shot In The Back 2. If I Was A Tidal Wave 3. Breath Of A Nation 4. She's In It For The Money 5. Single Spark Explosion (?) 6. Prost-Elite 7. Open Window (?) 8. Champions Of Nothing 9. 99% Of Us Is Failure 10. True Love Will Find You In The End (Daniel Johnston) 11. 12. Moon Over Marin (Dead Kennedys) 13. Metal Airplanes 14. *Note, 3 semi-known titles are missing from this list (which, if the picture revealed all, should have 16 titles). These are: The Boy Come Home, When Hollywood Runs Out of Indians, and Black Helicopter (though titles may have been changed).
  3. I did this same assignment... I chose Omissions of the Omen and Dancing Invisible
  4. I think Kevin Smith deserves to take criticism for this disaster in regards to his role in WRITING the film... not so much in directing it.
  5. The site looks fine to me. So much for losing everything.
  6. I'm assuming you haven't heard Murray Street?
  7. I've been seeing a lot of posts of this nature lately. I think we're decent human beings first and Matthew Good fans second. We should be more concerned with Matt's mental well-being than the calibre of music he may or may not produce as a result. In fact, I think the entire idea that traumatic experiences spark musical creativity is a bit naive.
  8. Am I the only one that thinks some of them are so blatantly personal that they might seem a little awkward hanging from our walls? ...especially the latest one.
  9. Dark Side of The Moon? and if that one doesn't count... The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
  10. Yeah... I asked a few guys at much music if they'd be able to sell me a tape of the original broadcast of this a long time ago. Apparently the best we can hope for is enough people (ie. more than those yearning for the Justin Timberlake video) request it to be re-aired.
  11. The Audio of Being Avalanche Beautiful Midnight Underdogs White Light Rock And Roll Review Last Of The Ghetto Astonauts
  12. The original 'Big City Life' came very VERY close.
  13. It was a radio-promo single sent out to various stations before the release of Loser Anthems. Much like Oh Be Joyful.
  14. I disagree. I've been to close to a hundred shows where an artist or band sounds amazing (usually one of the openers), and I buy their Album or EP to show my support only to find that it pales in comparison to their live show. I think anyone on the board who bought the WIL album (from Matt's tour a little while ago, '03 I think) will agree with me.
  15. I'm not positive, but I think a lot of previous lawsuits over these issues have dealt more with losses the defendant believes he/she has endured because of what's been said. ie. Eminem mentioning another artist in a song = a potential drop in sales for that artist as a result. Not that this is what the law states, but I think it's usually only in these instances that serious legal action is taken.
  16. Boo hoo. It's probably his weakest song... on avalanche, at least.
  17. Amen. I see no reason why this thread shouldn't be deleted. These replies coming from people who have made a combined 30 posts. Thanks for the input fuckers, but suck my nuts. Ohh... burn. So the logic is: the more posts a person has, the more valued his opinion. I see. And in saying that I'm someone 'new' to the board. Check the dates that both you and I became members.
  18. Amen. I see no reason why this thread shouldn't be deleted.
  19. "A Pillow of Winds" by Pink Floyd... given his musical tastes lately I don't see this being too far-fetched.
  20. I feel like a 'back seat driver' so to speak... but whenever the idea to do covers comes up everyone always pounces on the obvious choices. Why not mess with the hidden gems that everyone raves about in every other thread? Just a thought.
  21. The problem with these types of things is that most of the participants try to make things sound as close to the original as they can. In my opinion, if you're going to cover something, even if it's for a tribute album, you have to put your own spin on it. Change the instrumentation, the tempo, the overall mood, anything to make it your own. Unless of course you're a cover band... then your job is likely to be as close to the original artist as possible.
  22. Near Fantastica should be up there. When there was a fifth band member during the avalanche tour that song was the best thing they've ever done live.
  23. Suburbia... It's a good song but too often people go apeshit over it or get overly disappointed when it's not played.
  24. I've always wanted to know what that song he played at Muchmusic (in 1995?)was. There is a very very short clip of it on the Much More Music Bio segment which I can no longer find... but its got a fair bit of keyboards in it so it must have been written sometime just prior to of during the LOTGA tour.
  25. Yup. I am.
