  1. We're So Heavy was performed often on the White Light Rock and Roll Revue tour and a few times on the In A Coma one. I can't speak to Rabbits, but I have a feeling it was done live but it may have been just the vocals, and less than a handful of times...but I'm not 100% on that.
  2. I gave all of what I had for video sources (digicams for both nights and DV source for 30th) to the person doing all of the editing. I was going to attempt to try it but thought against it as I would probably cause more harm than good. The audio for the 29th and 31st is edited and available on the Hub, so just waiting back for the 30th audio before the whole project can get started. A little delayed but we had to wait for the audio to be ready before starting to synch them up. Not sure on the final ETA, the other guy I'm working with on this is hoping for less than two weeks so we'll see if that works out or not.
  3. Thanks for posting the rest of the videos up. I will see if any will/can be used in the final edit of the video from this day. If so I will get in touch with you and we can sort out the credits and what not. Thanks a lot!
  4. Sweeeet ;). If you are up for it I'd love to throw it into the collection and see how it turns out mixed in with the main video. We can always do the transfer for those later as I'm heading off to Bad Religion right away. Or you can upload them and let others get a sneak peak at the show...
  5. Impressive, thanks! Is the footage from the same area of HTB, or did you move closer at all? Because, if so, it's pretty much the same angle I'm not sure how much difference it would give in the video.
  6. Nicely done, the sound doesn't overpower the camera either. Your probably right beneath where I was for the show. The 30th and 31st were filmed with digital video cameras and I have been looking for additional footage to 'splice' into the show. I have about 10 minutes of digicam footage for both nights taken right beneath Matt and any little bit would help. Because you are kind of at the same angle as the majority of the footage I'm not sure it would help but if you don't mind I will take this (and any others you have) and see if they can be worked into the final product?
  7. Glad to hear that you survived your trip from the west. You were also able to see the best show as well, which makes the trip that much more worth it. The audio sounds great and will be even better once 5ilent is through with it, it will be a great reminder of your trip to Edmonton. Too bad Matt wasn't available for meeting after the shows on the 29/30, would have been that much better for you - but at least you saw two shows this tour.
  8. I really try to stay out of the whole MP3 versus lossless argument as it seems to never end but some education on the matter never hurts. It's not that the tapers are saying I made the recording, obey by my rules or else I will kill your cat, it's for a greater purpose. Pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about MP3's and their lossy ways can be found here, but this one here is probably worth the read because it explains why MP3s shouldn't be used as a trading format. I believe it was the Coldplay trading community that really got hit hard with having MP3 traded shows. People were passing them off as lossless when they were lossy and eventually the whole circle was polluted and no one knew the lineage of any show and the original source couldn't be found. The MG circle is small enough with only a few tapers, but each tour there are seven or so more shows that come out and it's just a matter of preserving the longterm quality. e: I edited this post way too many times
  9. You can get to the main page for the Double Life forum here and the thread I have with all three Edmonton shows discussed here. Mr. Rocket is right about the 30th being the best show. Everyone felt it and even Pat said that it rocked hard. He referred to it as their 'jazz night'.
  10. I will make this brief as I need to be heading off to bed but of all three shows (29/30/31) the 30th was the best. There was something special going on that night and of the sixteen times I've seen Matthew Good perform that one was second best only to '99 Pepsi Taste Tour. There were so many highlights to the Sunday show, but the setlist was perfect the guys were very tight on stage. Matt was talkative (he said little on the 29th) and it was a very long night clocking in at 98 minutes. A little surprised that no other Edmonton thread has been made, I started one over on the Double Life to keep everyone updated on the bootleg situation so here goes. All three nights have excellent audio and the last two have digital video. In the thread over there I have posted a song sample from each night and tomorrow I will post one from Monday's show.
  11. Nice to see a Dishwalla thread here. I really enjoyed Opaline but haven't had a chance to listen to their latest release. Opaline was my first exposure to them since Counting Blue Cars and I felt like it was a musical awakening or something. When I tell people about them I get the same reaction of "They are still around?" - which is too bad because they are putting out some great music but no support for them in the media.
  12. Congrats on recording the show. As a fellow recorder I feel I am obligated to ask these questions. What sort of gear do you have...type of MiniDisc and type of mics and all that jazz?
  13. Wow, a little bit of a drive for both shows. For all that time driving why not make it worth it and go to the third Edmonton show and then down to Calgary for the Tuesday show? Although that would be a lot of extra driving, but you came so far already... There are rarely any "mosh pit" at his shows and I doubt there would be anything at Starlite Room. The shows there in June 2004 were very tame but the crowd was active closer to the front. Nothing to be worried about. It is a pretty good venue, but after they renovated it they put the stage on the opposite end so the floor slants down/away from the stage so that's a little weird. I was upfront and further back for the shows in June and had no problems at either location.
  14. I was pretty surprised to see the third show announcement as well. I am not complaining, I am super pleased he is playing this much here. In 2004 and 2005 he will have played eight shows (Starlite Room, Reds and Klondike Days) and I am sure the shows in October will be a treat. I do feel bad for other markets because I've been in that situation where a band I want to see doesn't come through, so I will soak all of this in. End of October will be sixteen times I've seen MG/B perform and I have high hopes for the upcoming three night stint seeing as how great the three shows in June 2004 were.
  15. Over the years I have noticed a change in Matt's signature as well and thought I would use this post as a way to show the change. Back in the day it was his whole name, but now it's just the initials and all sort of vary a little bit each time. This is only a small taste of the different autographs I have. I thought it interesting to compare mass autographs for something like a Maple Music promotion to meeting him after a show where the crowds are a lot smaller than planned autograph lines. 1998 - EdgeFest - Autograph Line 1999 - Pepsi Taste Tour - Autograph Line 2003 - Avalanche Tour Soundcheck - Twenty-Five People 2004 - Maple Music Pre-Order - Two Hundred People 2004 - After Concert - Twenty People 2005 - After Concert - Autograph Line In that second last image (on the WLRRR tour shirt) you can see Christian's signature there. That was one of the better autographs I have received from him so I'm glad it's on the item that has the whole bands autograph. It's also great to have autographs from the original members of MGB to those who make up the solo group. Whenever I get around to framing the really cool signed items I'm sure it will cost a fair bit for all of those box frames.
  16. Thanks for putting up another YSI link, it will definitely help in the long run. More of a chance for others to get it. I did the recording from the back but I had a friend watch my gear as I went up to the front. I was on the right side (at the start of the white fence) infront of Rich. It was nice to be able to have my cake and eat it too. I am seeing if I can have the show edited as to improve some of the environmental sounds, but in the mean time this should tide everyone over. The Sean's need to stick together ;)
  17. I uploaded an MP3 version of the show to YouSendIt (I am the one who recorded the show too). You can access the link here. It will stay up there for seven days or I think twenty-five downloads. I posted the link over in the Hub and Double Life as well, so if the link expires someone will have to re-upload it to YSI for others who missed it.
  18. It was a really good show. The audience was tame and except for a few people who got pulled out of the front it was mild. I'm transferring the audio over now, but I heard about half of it on the way home last night and it's all good. Some highlights for me were Near Fantastica, Avalanche, Oh Be Joyful, Suburbia, Blue Skies Over Badlands and Advertising on Police Cars. There was a meet and greet after the show too, so a picture and now Black Market Surgery is signed. Definitely looking forward to the Fall tour now ;).
  19. From the Klondike Days website, they have Matt scheduled from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Looking at the playtimes of the four shows he did in 2004 in Edmonton they were between seventy and eighty minutes long, so ninety should be sufficient. Although, with the chances of having an ignorant teenager ruin the evening high I am not optomistic we will get a full show - but still cling to hope that it will go the full ninety.
  20. Oh you better believe I'm recording. I have been talking about my upgraded rig, which you can see here. I have had some great success with recording (Green Day, Jakalope, DFA1979, U2) so with the way things are going July will be a good month too. It will be outside, so I hope the windscreens on my CMC-2 mics are enough with increased wind, and what happens if it rains? How would the sound of the rain hitting the umbrella turn out? I need to do more research on these outdoor recording questions to pull the best tape, but I will be there for sure. EDIT: Cool beans, you joined one day before my birthday...
  21. Not really adding anything more, but just saying that $8 is the correct amount. This is taken from the main page: It's actually shaping up to have a few good acts: Thornley, Finger Eleven and I believe Wil too. Never been to K-Days and have lived outside of Edmonton my whole life...time to change that next month.
  22. Similar stories as others here. I saw "Everything Is Automatic" on MuchMusic and loved it. I went to A&B Sound to pick up the record but because MGB was in town for a no minor show at Red's in a few weeks they were sold out of copies. I headed to HMV and paid more than I should have for it and eight years later here I am.
  23. You are right, it did involve water and electricity. It was a pretty terrible day for a show in Camrose, but they kept on going. Water gathered on the roof and floor of the stage and I believe a shock jumped from the mic to Matt. It was nothing serious, but still electrocuted and could have been a lot worse.
  24. ....burn! ;) Joe and you have done an exceptional job. Difficult for anyone to record MG and have it sound better than what Joe has put out. And with your editing, well that makes for quite a powerful team. I have actually upgraded my whole recording gear with hopes of achieving a better recording. Gone are the ECM-719 and MiniDisc (I still have them but won't be my primary source anymore). I purchased SoundProfessionals card misc (CMC-2) and a battery box (SPSB-1) which go into a Nomad Jukebox3. I have five shows coming up in the next two months so I hope to get some good use out of it. But when the next MG tour comes by, you better believe it will be better than my prior Edmonton shows.
  25. From the shows I have, he played it May 23rd (Grand Bend), June 25th (Edmonton) and June 28th (Calgary). There may have been other performances of it recorded but I haven't seen any.
