  1. I have the links to the History Teacher Demos on page 13 of the Matthew Good Upload Thread in the NF Lounge.
  2. Yeah, I figured as much. People always seem to get really dumb after tragedies like that, with the media pointing fingers at stupid things (video games, Marilyn Manson, Matthew Good Band song titles) instead of actually addressing the actual roots of the problem. And that's a tragedy on top of a tragedy.
  3. Hey, I actually don't think it's a bad song, and someone has to give it a fighting chance. A few others have voted for it. Agreed. The comparison to EIA is one I hadn't considered before, but I totally see it. And I agree with others about the Rooms version of NAFL, I don't hate it as much as some seem to, but I think something gets lost in the translation when it's slowed down.
  4. Yeah, with the U.S. version you're missing out on not just New Wave but two other fantastic songs (and you get weird blanks instead of "machine gun" and "kill"). The only saving grace of the U.S. version is the heavier remix of HTB, as I've said before in another thread.
  5. Another one! High five! "Yeah motherfucker we're number one"
  6. 21st Century Breakdown - Green Day
  7. 1) Advertising on Police Cars (AOB) 2) A Long Way Down 3) Lone Gunman (even though I can't understand all the words lol) 4) The Rat Who Would Be King (tough one) 5) Empty's Theme Park 6) Blue Skies Over Bad Lands (not a tough one, not a Rico hater but still, it doesn't have a chance IMHO) 7) Annabelle 8) Hello Time Bomb (BM) 9) North American For Life (WLRRR) (I personally really like this one, love the energy) This is very true. The American BM may be inferior to the original but the remix of HTB on it is superior.
  8. Okay I'll try to keep it to a minimum of 24. In no particular order: 1. Empty's Theme Park 2. Born To Kill 3. Prime Time Deliverance 4. A Single Explosion 5. Suburbia 6. She's Got A New Disguise 7. Flight Recorder From Viking 7 8. Advertising On Police Cars 9. Change Of Season 10. Avalanche 11. I Miss New Wave 12. We're So Heavy 13. 99% Of Us Is Failure 14. While We Were Hunting Rabbits 15. Blue Skies Over Bad Lands 16. Champions Of Nothing 17. House Of Smoke And Mirrors 18. All Together 19. Running For Home 20. A Boy And His Machine Gun 21. Sort Of A Protest Song 22. The Rat Who Would Be King 23. Near Fantastica 24. Giant That was difficult, I could probably make a slightly different list depending on my mood. I'm noticing not very many harder rocking songs on my list. I also wanted to put more Vancouver tracks down, but it's so solid an album I couldn't choose.
  9. Thanks very much  . I'm sure my girlfriend would appreciate the excess attention I'd get from other girls ;) . If I could play any instrument decently I would have done that...but I can't so I didn't. If anyone else wanted to add instrumentation to it, if they like my voice enough, I certainly wouldn't mind. Same if someone else were looking for vocals for another MG/MGB cover.
  10. Add Running For Home and some pre-MGB tunes (Ghetto Astronauts, The Ocean, As Long As You're Mine, A Better Pain, etc.) to my setlist. The one that already has 22 tunes...not including anything from WLRRR onward...which if I did, would have We're So Heavy, Blues Skies, Champions, 99%, Empty's...at least. Maybe I'm being a little unrealistic, but it is just a fantasy setlist. Oh, and HOSAM.
  11. Thank you, that's it exactly. It was starting to bug me that I couldn't remember. ;)
  12. It's certainly among his best. I'd say it's about disillusionment. I think the key lyric is in the chorus, not that he misses new wave, but real intent, honesty, something true. For example, "hearing the scratches on my long plays" (which is one of my favourite lyrics in the song). It's something that's flawed, but it's real, and almost perfect in its imperfection, as opposed to something that looks perfect, but is ultimately hollow and devoid of any real meaning. Am I making any sense?
  13. Great song. As has already been said, great intro. Great lyrics. Great slow build up to Dave Genn's wicked guitar solo. I especially like the opening lyrics, as mentioned before by someone else, and just before the solo "I feel like swimming in your apathy as a kind of parody for miles and miles and miles".
  14. Lol true, but sometimes I can make it out.
  15. Okay, but I'm pretty sure it was gonna be on Avalanche. But I could be wrong ;) .
  16. If I had enough disposable income when he was due to come through my part of the country, yes absolutely. Since people are posting their fantasy setlists, I'll give it a try: 1. Change Of Season 2. Man Of Action 3. The Fall Of Man 4. I Miss New Wave 5. Fearless 6. Double Life 7. Invasion 1 8. Let's Get It On 9. Near Fantastica 10. Advertising On Police Cars 11. Suburbia 12. Prime Time Deliverance 13. The Inescapable Us 14. Tripoli 15. Look Happy, It's The End Of The World 1st Encore 16. While We Were Hunting Rabbits 17. Truffle Pigs 18. She's Got A New Disguise 19. Sort Of A Protest Song 2nd encore 20. A Boy And His Machine Gun 21. Jenni's Song 22. Born To Kill That was hard just to narrow it down to what I did. I excluded anything from WLRRR because I saw that tour, and I think anything more recent can't yet be considered "rare". At least, not that rare.
  17. I think it was a song planned to be on Avalanche...the lyrics I believe became the intro to the acoustic Near Fantastica. But I could be wrong.
  18. Look Happy, It's The End Of The World - Matthew Good Band
  19. Okay, it's in the 10th anniversary thread. Be kind ;) . It's the first time I've put anything I've sung on the internet.
  20. Here it is: A Single Explosion
  21. I posted this in another thread, but I have a recording of myself singing A Single Explosion without any instrumentation, just me a cappella basically. I guess I'm confident enough about it to post it if anyone's interested in hearing it. I guess I'm just waiting for someone to say they're interested in hearing it...lol
  22. Looks like there's an echo in here lol.
