I thought it was pretty good (I'll agree with the "better than The Illusionist" consensus)... but I still wasn't particularly amazed or overwhelmed. Maybe it's because I hate everything, but still, it was worth seeing, it's even recommendable.
-
My brother rented "The Illusionist" a couple of weeks ago. It was really easy to predict, so it really didn't impress.

Interesting idea, but he's still liable to screw it all up.

That's true, it seems like a lot of rights movements, evolve from seeking equality, to seeking supremacy.
-
The critics really seem to hate it for the most part. I'm not one to based the movies I watch on what critics say, but when the consensus is that strong, there's probably some truth to it.

Wal-mart - Corporate Power Run Amuck?
HoboFactory replied to supercanuk's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
A discerning buyer can find good prices without "needing" Wal-Mart. I really don't care about customer service at that sort of store... I'm the type of person who goes the the store, find exactly what I'm looking for, and then go home... I don't need a greeter telling me what deals they have that day and all that crap. -
Wal-mart - Corporate Power Run Amuck?

I've never been to Wal-Mart before; they wanted to build one about 5 min from my house, but the community wouldn't allow it, so the idea was abandoned. It doesn't seem like I missed out on much of anything though. -
They're vegans.

brings up a good point though See I'd have to disagree, they're so hard to take seriously, I actually like landmines more now. -

A lot of rappers are really ugly. -
Well of course, just look at his spelling. Actually, I recently saw a very interesting show on the PBS about Iran. The reason why their president is being such a wanker about Israel and the West, and the reason their gov't and military seem to do such audacious things is to distract the public from their problems at home. Their president promised the people increased wealth, a better life, and so on, instead, under his rule, the rate of inflation has been something like 300% and the costs of housing has also risen very rapidly. Many people are largely disillusioned with Iran's administration to provide for the people and make good on promises, so the gov't has to engage in these theatrics in order to shift the direction of public outrage.

Seriously now? That's some success story, given Isaac's background and all. -
Saw this pic and thought it was... interesting

if by garbage, you mean comedic genious. talladega nights was garbage, though, yeah. Anchorman was one of crappiest comedies I've ever seen. Given that it was composed almost entirely of cliches, a laughably predictable storyline, and a done-before-a-thousand times protagonist... the only thing that's really funny about it is that people actually liked it.

I first saw this on the show Independent Lens, and thought it was really quite good. It says quite a lot even if it's only a few minutes long. You wankers should all see it too. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6iOw8LD7Igc

"Marmalade Eyes" - Joseph Arthur -
I really doubt I could've lost it in that situation, there were like 4 of them in the van, so it was sort of intimidating.

Tae Guk Gi is an amazing movie Definitely. Very moving.
-
The worst thing is when they come at you in person. I was walking down the street one day, when some army fellows pulled over in a mini van and started hassling me to join. At least when they send letters in the mail or advertise on websites, it's a lot easier to ignore.

I've only been to Starbuck's maybe 2 times, just to make sure I wasn't missing out. I hate coffee, and I'm not too fond of the crowd that place seems to attract. Sometimes it's difficult to respect people that spend $3 for some bitter water. I'm not too fond of the music they have either, so that wouldn't be an incentive to go there.

I'm glad. Captain America was evil and stupid.

MadTV was probably never meant to be intelligent comedy though. Pretty much from day 1 it was mostly just cheap, easy laughs. For that purpose, it often works.

While I'm not battling insomnia at the moment, I am in a position in which I have no way to pass the time other than the ole computin' box. Sucks to have 1.5hrs in between classes.

Affleck is one of the worst choices anyone can make for any film. I've seriously thought of writing to Congress to see if they could assign a committee to investigate how and why Ben Affleck is able to get work.
