Overall, I don't listen to all that many goth bands, they can have a good sound sometimes, but on the whole, they're all just angsty whiners. So in fact when it comes to Rammstein, they're probably more mature than you make them out to be, Aaron. If you hear enough of their music (as in NOT the songs that they're known for in America, like Du Hast, Ich Will, or Feuer Frei), there's alot more to it than just being angry. For me the appeal is not only in the lyrics, which can actually be pretty poetic and soulful (songs like Alter Mann, or Nebel that most people who've heard of Rammstein in the states have never heard). The music itself is both very mechanical and powerful but still carries a sort of natural feel.

A good gothic band that few people have heard of is Eisheilig (they're German). Really interesting stuff. You're probably not gonna be able to find it anywhere as far as stores go, you can try to download it though.

Oddly enough most of those don't work for me.

That Moore sure is slow when it comes to posting in his blog. I do agree with him here though. I was talking to this one girl at school about the Iraq war, and she was all "1,000 is so little, I can't believe people protest something so insignificant." I guess when compared with other wars, 1,000 is a pretty small number, but everyone knows (or rather everyone should) that for a false cause, even 1 death is too many.

I've had Lichtspielhaus for a while now, yah it is really great. For those who've only seen Rammstein vids on the comp or on TV, you're probably not getting the full experience because of censorship. In some cases it makes a pretty big difference. And it's true, Juanpe, what you said about the funding, if you see Rammstein's first vid "Du Riechst So Gut" (1995)...it was pretty lame, even compared with Matt Good. Once they actually became profitable, there was massive improvement.

Yeah... Spieluhr though is a very unusual and beautiful song.

The lyrics are pretty suited to the goth style though. I think most Rammstein vids are better than Matt Good's... Matt Good videos seem to lack the cinematic element (except Apparitions of course), somehow not very dramatic I guess. Although with such a drastically different sound, it's hard to compare the music itself.

The mag size thing does matter as demonstrated by the robbery incident I mentioned above; these guys had guns with like a 75 round capacity, had it been 10 or less.... well the whole thing would've been resolved a hell of alot faster.

A few years back they kept showing this robbery gone wrong on TV about these 2 guys (in California if I'm not mistaken) that somehow managed to get their hands on AK-47 assault rifles with special high-capacity mags. On foot those 2 guys walked around, shot up what must've been a few city blocks, put the whole city in a state of emergency. It occurs to me that if these guys had pistols like the vast majority of armed robbers, they certainly wouldn't have done all the harm they did and would've been dealt with by police many times more quickly. But think now that all these thousands of armed robberies that occur in the USA every year, how many more will now play out like this particular incident.

If you're gonna go about the moon thing try acquiring a copy of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon" its only 45min If I recall correctly, but pretty good. Also try "Outfoxed"

I think alot of it has to do with the product they're promoting as well. If it's a cheap product, then it only cheapens the artist. For example small parts of Rammstein's "Mein Herz Brennt" were feautured in a Mercedes-Benz commercial, none of the band members or their voices appear in it(you might've seen it, it's the one with the clouds flying around and fighting each other or something, while the dude drives around the desert). Something like that I think is tolerable, and subtle enough not to cheapen Rammstein's image. On the other hand you got whoever that rapper is from that lame-ass Gatorade commercial (he's standing on a platform rapping and doing all the rap gestures)...when you got such a cheap product and when you're so blatantly selling out by actually writing lyrics about the product.... I don't disapprove of it necessary, it's just incredibly stupid.

Oh damn, I completely forgot about Heat, that was a good one too.

How depressing. Now criminals will more frequnetly outgun the police and would-be terrorists can legally purchase these weapons. The consequences for this are bound to be disasterous.

Amazing video

It's a great movie, very sad. Kind of shows much this going after the "American dream" of owning a house and all can consume people's lives and bring alot of heartache and misery. Hits me in an odd way I guess, being an immigrant to the United States and such.

I've not heard of it, but I rarely watch television.
