Macs Turning Off

Damn. I'm sorry. ;) Good luck with the prostitution. I mean artwork. ^^ -
Better watch yourself next time with that one. Pack some duct tape!

I actually went through so many steps to deactivate that damn UAC, even changing the 0s and 1s in the registry, and it fucking keeps coming back. Oh well. Maybe the noise doesn't exist and you're just losing your hearing? haha.

I think the song is pretty good, but yeah, given the time period and everything that was going on... I can understand why he wouldn't want to play it.

Spyware And Associated Riskzzz
decomposinglight replied to Dan #2's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
If there isn't a switch on the exterior of the computer for the wireless card, it might be an option you can get to in the lower right hand corner or through your Internet Preferences. It would kinda be a bitch to have to go through all of that every time you want to turn it off, though. I guess you could say that, yeah. Sleep is like a more advanced screensaver. It's like giving the computer a rest, so that's why it takes a bit longer to boot up when it's taken out of sleep mode when compared to just screensaver. If you have a newer computer (you said you have Vista), sleep is usually automatic with the closing of the case. If I recall, there's also a setting somewhere that allows you to adjust the settings of the sleep mode, similar to the settings you may have for screensaver. -

I use Vista and I have no problems. I used to get the BSOD when a former iTunes version tried to upload photos to an old iPod.. but that was Apple's fault for not releasing compatible software. It's all good in the neighbourhood. If you're having problems, though, go with XP.

U.s. Presidential Race
decomposinglight replied to decomposinglight's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
What's hilarious is that the news is totally fawning over Hillary now. They keep criticizing Obama's race speech and bolstering Hillary's status by saying that she gave a speech on health care 3 days after she became first lady and met with people to talk about health care the day Bill was supposed to be fucking Monica (even when she didn't make the health care plan she says she did...). GAHHHH. -
If You Could See Anyone, Who Would It Be......

It's linked to your profile here and it's public. How else would I know you were Scientologist? I didn't just pull it out of my ass or tediously go through old threads to find out. I read it. -
What's The Last Thing You've Eaten?
decomposinglight replied to Prometheon's topic in Open Discussion
I did that on purpose. Last thing I ate: Rice crispies + fruitloops marshmellow bar. -
10/10 because you're on mahhh Facebook. But honestly, that music note is really cool looking.

I think French should be their language, and English as secondary. There is a heritage of Quebec speaking French, lots of French ancestry in the people, etc. I don't agree with Quebec becoming separate from Canada like a New France or anything though. Language is a VERY strong aspect of culture. I don't think it's purposeful that "the English" are getting rid of French, as English is more of a business language and becoming more prominent everywhere (there might be some wackjobs who want to diminish Quebec's voice, but that's not a majority). Still, French language means something to these people and it's part of their identity (whether you believe Sapir-Whorf's langauge relativity theory or not). It should stay a part of Quebec, although someday I'm sure it won't be. That's just the way things are. On another note, if somebody came in and tried to tear my language away, I'd beat their ass.

I would totally honk my brains out and then travel on the median to pass them.

U.s. Presidential Race
decomposinglight replied to decomposinglight's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Exactly. And that's why it's so stupid of Hillary to rat on Obama for giving the troops funding. You gotta give 'em funding or else they're gonna be in bad shape over there - worse shape, actually, since proper gear is already in short supply. ;) -
Macs Turning Off
decomposinglight replied to Ravenous megin-sane's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
Hrm... No AppleCare plan? I would suggest it next time if you do a lot of surfing and/or you install 3rd party programs on the mac. They will still talk to you on Customer Service even if you don't have a plan. Otherwise, have a mac-loving geek come over and take a look. -
What Is Punk?
decomposinglight replied to borntohula's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I'd say Sid is the most "textbook" punk, but there is so much about that genre that doesn't make sense. The Clash and the Sex Pistols can be punk, but then when we come to the 90s and 2000s, supposedly punk compilations like "Punk-o-Rama" include bands like the Weakerthans or Matchbook Romance. Is Pennywise punk? Dropkick Murphys? I just don't know. Honestly, whatever it is, most of it is not to my liking, unless it has uber-intelligent lyrics. -
