  1. But why not just say "alright we're taking a break we'll be back in 2 minutes" or something (like they do at plays or comedian shows...)
  2. Anton: True ;) Owen: That's why it annoys me... Charles: lol
  3. Why do singers and bands keep pretending to be leaving and then comes back? Why not just cut the crap and play the whole thing?
  4. With real instruments? Matt records the guitars, bass and keyboards with actual guitars, bass and keyboards. Then he makes the drums with GarageBand. The orchestra on the record is also done with GarageBand. So it's possible. Just listen to Black Helicopter demo and final...the only difference is the drums. Don't forget that he's recording on a computer so, if he takes these tracks and mixes them properly he'd be able to make an actual record. But I could be wrong. Edit: And don't forget, I said demos with new drum tracks and some overdubs. So he might have added some instruments. But I'm pretty sure the core of the record consists of demos. But again I could be wrong. ;)
  5. Oh yeah that's right I forgot. My bad! ;)
  6. I'm hoping boxers (especially with Rod's post on MG.org) but maybe briefs ;)
  7. Matt explained a bit how he did it. Here's a brief summary of it: -The strings on Avalanche were performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (which is something he cannot afford anymore) -To the best of my knowledge, Matt didn't use GarageBand back in 2001/2002 (Avalanche demos). -Hospital Music consists basically of demos with the drums re-recorded and some overdubs:
  8. Very nice
  9. 1-Bummer, me neither lol ;) 2-Just because it seems every musician has a mac so I wanted to know if I was an alien
  10. Hey Geoff, two questions: 1-Did you play on Lo-Fi B-Sides (like were those demos to Beautiful Midnight)? 2-Mac or PC? ;)
  11. Well it's exactly that kind of thinking that got Pete Best out of The Beatles too...but I get your thinking. That's exactly what happened with MGB as far as I understand it from Matt's posts, interviews and new Bio (the fact that he was responsible for the bands debts and was held responsible for its dissolution and blamed for the lack of success of his solo carreer, etc)...which sucks... Record companies often are the thorn in the music industries side...they sort of shoot themselves in the foot.
  12. Oh definitely! Although Stum, Blake and Peter sound pretty good (from what I can hear on Live at Massey Hall). And as far as Matt being a band kind of guy, I think he's not simply because he likes being in control. A band is a collaboration kind of thing. He writes songs and know what he wants and how he wants it to sound and sometimes even to a small detail (remember when he wanted Dave to change the way he played a small part on the Sort of a Protest Song solo?). It's not a bad thing at all because, as stated earlier, he's got the talent for it (and Hospital Music shows that). But it makes actual bandmates employees and that's not a band.
  13. Um yes ...um no ...um...;)
  14. Yeah but keyboard players get more chicks than bass players man...;) But I'm married so... * runs down to the basement and get playin' the bass *
  15. Ohhh that's good to know ;)
  16. Oh I see. Thanks for the info  And you're welcome! It's the truth. I always loved how your fingers just slid on the strings, you made it seem super easy and melodic. Actually, you've turned me against plectrum bass playing lol (although I can do it ). When I first picked up a bass, I tried Indestructible and gave it up and picked up a plectrum lol ;)
  17. Assisted suicide and euthanasia should be legalized. The reason is quite simple: why do we keep humans suffering (in the case of terminal cancer, aids, etc) and yet we have mercy when our cat has terminal cancer. If something is not curable and the person is suffering, then that person should have the right to ask to die. Period. In the case of serious illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, that person should have the right to have a helper. And, let's not play fucking hypocrits, it already happens in hospitals and whatnot by giving huge amounts of morphine. It's something many know but pretend they don't. ;)
  18. Which is sad because you're an awesome bass player...actually, your bass playing played a huge part in me liking MGB at first and I always felt the bass was lacking a bit post Beautiful Midnight. What do you mean though by "rubbed me the wrong way" you just didn't like the way you had to play or the songs?
  19. It's a weird album...I don't dislike any song on it but a lot of them are definite growers (The nature of Reality and High Horse). Bag It Up: Strange opener, pretty good song. The Turning: Absolutely love it. New sound for Oasis and one of my favourite on the record. Waiting For The Rapture: Good song. Not as good as Bag It Up and the alternate version #2 is way better. Noel said he was listening to The Doors and re-recorded the song after (Compare it to 5 to 1). The Shock of the Lightening: It's a single...'nuff said I'm outta time: Liam at his best...again...it's right up there with Born on a Different Cloud to me. DBTT didn't give us Liam's best but he's back on that one! (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady: Weird, too country-ish...unintelligible Oasis song...but it gets stuck in your head after a while. Falling Down: Noel back in good form! The Masterplan quality song, reminder of Noel's songs with The Chemical Brothers (their remix is just aweful though). It's an awesome song! To Be Where There's Life: I like most of Gem's song and this one is no exception. Ain't Got Nothing: WTF is that doing on the record? It's not a bad song but it's the same kind of low quality song than The Meaning of Soul. The Nature of Reality: A grower...hated it at first now I kind of like it. Soldier On: Nice song but forgettable just like Better Man was. The Boy With The Blues could have replaced this one (or Ain't Got Nothing). I Believe In All: Same feeling than Soldier On The Boy With The Blues: Awesome...comparable to I'm Outta Time to me and should have been on the regular record. The Turning (Alt version #4): Pretty good but not as good as the final version. Waiting for the Rapture (Alt version #2): Better than the album version but the ending sounds too much like Let There Be Love. The remix all suck. All in all, it's another non completely great Oasis records. It's got a lot of better moments than DBTT and of courde, definitely better than Heather Chemistry.
  20. Not Harper so, anyone who's going to block him (Bloc or Liberals right now)
  21. Go see the "Ask Geoff" thread, everything's in there ;)
  22. My personal views: Toshiba: Good hardware, shit casing Lenovo: Good hardware, shit performances. I don't know what IBM does but somehow, their good hardware doesn't work well together (from my experience of course). I'd go with a Dell personally: Good hardware, good casing, good support.
  23. Sgt. Pepper is the masterpiece...but Abbey Road is close second for me.
  24. True! ;) But the first time there was a tracklisting released, I remember there were 14 tracks. Then they took All Together out and then Pony Boy. But I'd like that 14 tracks list.
