Your post shows you have no clue what goes on in the M+ blog. First off, the main blog isn't "information" but opinions. As far as I know, Matthew Robert Frederick Good's observations on current event are not considered as "information". Second, the M+ blog does not give "better" information but rather DIFFERENT information. Now information on the recording process of an album not only doesn't count as "information" because it is in no way "owed" to anyone who is not directly involved, but also because go back fucking 12 years ago and no one had even a clue what the artist was doing in the studio. The record came out and you had to BUY it (oh the dirty word!) to listen to it. 12 years ago. Nope! There was such a thing before the interwebs called "Fan clubs". You had to PAY (woops there goes that word again) to get exclusive information and gifts from the artists. No one bitched about it back then. But in this day and age of "click and get" every one expects to get the candy without spending a fucking dime! Freedom of information? Go on bbc.co.uk, theguardian.co.uk and others YOURSELF and make YOURSELF an opinion. I know, I know it's a lot more time but, that's what Matt used to do. But reading what Matthew Good thinks of the information on these website in no way counts as information. So basically, the old blog was consisted of DISSERTATIONS about current events. These texts took a lot of time to research, think about and write. The M+ is information on music including free downloads of demos. It's a fan club in a way. You pay for exclusive stuff. I commend anyone who is willing to get rid of disposable activities to take car of their kids.

It's basically G G/D Em ;)

Oh I didn't notice the "how it goes" in the chorus. My bad!
-
In all fairness I highly doubt the song is called "How it goes". I think he just said "so this is how it goes" at the end.

Where did Matt say his next record was going to be called Cold Harbour anyway? I missed the posts where he put the demos so was it in there? I searched mg.org but found nothing contaning Cold Harbour mod edit: added lyrics to the OP. Lyrics 1. Extraordinary Fades 2. How It Goes 3. Shallow's Low 4. What If I Can't See The Stars Mildred? 5. Zero Orchestra 6. Non Populus 7. In A Place Of Lesser Men 8. Set Me On Fire 9. Lights Of Endangered Species Bonus track: Darlin'

First, if those were entirely done on GarageBand, then he's getting awesome at it. The drums sounds as if it was done in the studio. Scratch that, if this was mixed properly, it could almost go on an album as far as I'm concerned. Second, why don't we hear any of the words on "I once saw..."? Third, the songs are good, better than those on Vancouver for the most part. "I once saw..." is quite destabilizing musically but it's interesting. Of course that's just my idiotic non-expert opinion given that I haven't been making music professionnally for the last 16 years so maybe I got this all wrong and it's all crap. That's up to Matthew to say anyway.

My condolences to everyone...

Oh no one should rip into you. It is condescending and even a bit arrogant. But Matt has been doing this for a while. Those who didn't like Vancouver were told they knew nothing about music and those who criticized this idea are "clueless" about how a website is made, etc. I'm not really enjoying it but, it's his blog, he could tell us to fuck off if he wanted.

Alright we get that he's pissed off...why dosen't he just do it if he wants to and don't if he doesn't...he listens to what people say way too much...
-
No problem! ;)

Listen to "I'm a window" between 1:40 AND 1:55. It's there. So I'm guessing it's a loop from GarageBand. But I don't know much about the software given I'm on a PC. I thought I'd point that out if it helped.

Listen to I'm a Window between 1:40 and 1:55. You'll hear that sound that someone was looking for that's in the beginning of The Boy Would Could Explode...
-
How do you figure that?

Those who don't know, originally, there was a panda floating in between chimneys...it was removed because of the similarities with Pink Floyd's animals (floating pig).

Anyone Else Wish The Streaming Album Had A Pause Button?

I think there is none because that would facilitate cutting up the song in pieces and burning a CD with it. -
Historically the blue period may have been important yes. I was talking about me, in front on one of the paintings from that era. And that's what I meant in my previous posts and it's the same for your music or anyone else's for that matter. The listener's opinions are going to be based on them listening to the record regardless of the work and, for most of them, techniques behind them.
-
Thanks for your comments Matthew. I always think it's interesting to have your point of view on our points of view especially when you include musical knowledge. Because yes, most of us here are not professional musicians. First, concerning my comments, I didn't mean it in the "you shouldn't have done those" or "I would have done it differently" way but simply that I didn't like those bits. On records or any other piece of art, there are things one will like and others one will not like. That does not mean that this person is saying he would have done better and that was not my intention at all. Reading my comments I know I used the word "useless" but that's a mistake on my part and I apologize because clearly I didn't express myself properly (I can see that Mojo was right) You compared to a painting like I did so let me go on with the comparison. I think you can like or dislike the way the artist painted a shape or even a whole era. I'm not fond of Picasso's blue era. That doesn't mean I'm saying he shouldn't have gone through it nor does it diminish the techniques he used in that period, the talent he had and it's absolutely not me saying I would have done it differently or me saying I know the right techniques. It's only me saying, from my non-painter point of view that, personally, I don't like that period. As for your producer comment, I would like to add that it was merely a theory. Given that I'm not a professionnal musician nor a producer, it's absolutely obvious that those comments are going to be based on my ignorance and probably wrong. You've been doing this for years and I haven't. So the fact that you come here to explain how and why things are like they are is very interesting like I said before. That being said, please don't take any of my comments in the wrong way. You can't expect fans to say what they think about a record from a 15 plus years experience recording artist point of view because we're not. The fact that I would venture in theories about the work being made in the studio is of course not going to be from a professionnal point of view. But people can give opinions without it being a lesson for the artist to take. So in no way were my comments meant as "Matt should have done this". So in a way the armchair quaterback comment I think is not relevant. Because, like I said, I'm not saying you should have done things differently (and that's the point I've been trying to strech since Mojo told me I sounded like an asshole). That was not my intention.

Well first, saying someone sounds like an asshole may result in that person taking it personally. Second, look at a painting. It's possible you love the painting itself but dislike say the way the painter did a particular shape. If you read my post, you can make this parallel. I said I liked the album but not some of the lead guitar parts that I deem useless. I then proceeded in saying that I think not having a producer limits what could be considered as bad ideas. That doesn't mean that a producer would have had the same dislikes as me because I am knowledge itself. But artists, just like website creators, electricians, can have bad ideas and it's a good idea to have someone to give an outside opinion. I in no way dismiss anything about his work. But I emitted an opinion which is the point of this thread. And I too know how the process work as I am a songwritter myself. And after I recorded my demo CD's my wife and family gave me their opinions and I took what I thought were valid points and dismissed what I disagreed with. That's how art works in my own honest opinion. That doesn't mean an artist should make their art to the liking of people. Anyhow, no hard feelings really. ;)

Oh I agree -
Isn't Styx a river? ;)
-
Hey dude I was the nice one ;)

Oh of course me saying what I think about the album, if it's negative, makes me an asshole. Alright, let's do it your way: Oh it's soooooo awesome and I love every part of it! The only difference is, in my case, it's not true and I still stand my completely constructive and subjective comment.

Too manu useless lead guitar: -Last Parade -Us Remains Impossible (the beginning sounds like he's learning to play) -The Vancouver National Anthem I think that's just the lack of producer. Artists have good and bad ideas and those useless lead parts are bad ideas. Also, "On nights like tonight" is the middle part of Avalanche. Other than that, it's awesome and I think it has a lot of Avalanche and Hospital Music in it (which is good) ;)

Oasis No Longer A Band.

The last time they had a laugh together, as far as I know of course, is recording the "Lock The Box" DVD in 2006. Otherwise, like it's been said before, Noel leaves, comes back, leaves, comes back. He's the emotional one. Liam smashing a guitar? That's just nuts. He's an idiot sometimes and should really look into a rage control therapy. Seriously how many times has he attacked people? Other than that, either it's actually the end of the band (Audio of Being: it doesn't say that on oasisinet.com) or Liam will try to go on with Gem and Andy (which will fail because the best songs are always Noel's) or Noel will come back and they'll keep on going and all of this will be an immense waiste of time. -
CoN: I agree  AoB: Nah those are easily edited...;)
