Here's a rip of the Oh Be Joyful! song (encoded in Ogg Vorbis): http://www.arklinux.org/~poprocks/mattgood-obj.ogg mod note: please buy the track via itunes... - crusader

I have it, but why would you want it in .wmv format?

The most abundant record around here is probably Avalanche... Also WLRRR, LOTGA, Raygun, and Beautiful Midnight are easy to find. AoB is nowhere to be found :-(

The Killers

Yeah I bought their album a while ago. I listened to it a lot at first, and I loved the British video for Mr. Brightside. But when they released their North American video, it was pretty obvious that they sold out. I wish bands would understand that their audiences don't have to be bought. They are good musicians though, and the album is enjoyable. I do agree though, that the album hits a wall around track 6 or 7. -
We only have one guitar in the band (myself) so songs like ASR and Time Bomb are WAY easier to cover. Then say a song like Weapon. Well don't get the idea that we've got some elaborate set-up..! there's just 3 of us, for Weapon one of us plays keyboard with a symphony setting, one plays guitar 1 and one plays guitar 2. We usually don't have a drummer for most stuff.

Watch Your Money?

I'd definitely have to say The Reason by Hoobastank. My cousins' family and my family went on a cruise, and we stayed for a couple nights in Miami Beach because that's where the port was. It was a couple days before the MTV VMAs, so there were celebrities around. Hoobastank happened to eat dinner at the same deli we were at -- and they wouldn't sign autographs for us. It wasn't like there was a lineup either -- no one recognized them but us. Honestly, that's not cool. If you're a celebrity, you have to expect stuff like that. I was never a fan, but my brother was and now he no longer is, because of that. But all those rather personal things aside... I'd still go with the Reason. So there. -
Yeah, you're probably right. I hope Jenny hasn't been fattening him up on purpose though!
-
Heh, it's probably in my dad's glovebox. Or maybe in the garbage. Same thing.
-
You sure about that? I heard he is his own kid! Ermm...
-
Wow, ASR seems to be a popular cover song! My friends and I have covered Middle Class Gangsters, Time Bomb, Weapon (always lots of fun), Empty Road, Hopeless, Put Out Your Lights, Poor Man's Grey, and Apparitions. It mostly sounds crappy, but we have fun.

Yeah, he was kinda sickly before, it's good to see that he's finally eating something.
-
Sure it could sell out, but this isn't Green Day or anything, tickets will be available for a while.
-
Good job! A few of the lyrics are wrong in Strange Days, but it's about the music, not a few words. Overall very good! Maybe consider mp3 instead of wav to reduce the filesize a bit But I generally like the originals better, you seem more comfortable with your own material. keep it up.

Quicktime, I don't know, I use mplayer to play my videos, so it worked fine here.

then get firefox. And chubby, yeah... I noticed it a bit at the Bala concert but I didn't think much of it. But it's a little more noticeable in the video. I really don't care, but I don't know how the girls on the Bored will be taking it.. hehe.

Yeah, same, so I saved it to my hard disc. I liked it a lot, the imagery was very melancholy, and it was definitely a good idea to film it in black and white. Nice!
-
all right! I'm gonna go watch it now!! ;)
-
I sorta have (had?) a band -- well, really it's just me and a couple of buddies getting together and jamming -- and yes, Matt Good covers are a staple of our existence.
-
But wow.. I've watched the MuchMoreMusic top 10 for a couple of days now, and I'm not optimistic. Look at this CRAP that people vote for! And this is adult contemporary! This is what mature, responsible adults are voting for! God help us...
-
No, I haven't. I've been trying really hard to catch it though. At first I thought, "ah no big deal, it's in heavy rotation on MuchMoreMusic, I'll just tune in and I'll probably catch it." But there's a problem -- they barely EVER play videos on MuchMoreMusic! It's mostly all VH1 shows and movies and stuff. There are very few Videoflows.

Where Did You Obsession With Matt Good Start?
Poprocks replied to GravityDave's topic in Matthew Good
Well, I remember late in '97 when I was in grade 7, I was just starting to like music, so naturally I would watch the MuchMusic countdown to get abreast of what was out there. Bychance, one of the first songs I remember hearing was the Everything is Automatic video. I didn't really have much of a taste for music then, but I knew I liked that song much much better than most of the other stuff on the chart (ie: Mase and Puff Daddy). Then I heard Indestructible and Apparitions, and loved them. But I wasn't obsessed. I also heard some of their BM stuff, but again, I wasn't obsessed. All that changed when my friends said they were going to a Matt Good concert. I told them I'd come. I'd heard Weapon and IAWCC on the radio, but I wasn't obsessed with him, I didn't even consider myself a "fan." But after the concert, I was stunned, and I went out and bought Avalanche. That's basically when I became obsessed. -
What do you guys think he means by that? I'd love to hear Carmelina (in any form..) as it's definitely my favourite MGB song and probably right up there with one of my favourite songs of all time.
-
Well, I knew this would happen. Alert Status Red did so well on the radio because it was catchy, it had a hook, and it was just a sans-gimmick, fun rocker. The sly, ironic lyrics didn't hurt either. Been a While is also a good song, but it simply does not spell out "single" to me. What he should have done is release Bad Idea as the video and Been a While as the "secondary" single for adult contemporary radio stations. No Matt, you're not getting old, but you're not as famous as you used to be. You can't just put out whatever you want and expect everyone to accept it. You have to sometimes give in to what you think people want to hear. So if you're surprised that the single isn't being well-accepted... well, maybe you shouldn't be.
-
I'd have to go with Carmelina. True, it's more anger-laden than anything else, but when I crank the volume up and sing along with it (when no one's around, of course ;)), all of my anger just melts away somehow, probably because I've found at least some way to express myself, if only in a weird and abstract way.

Everything is Automatic was the first single/video off Underdogs.
