Yeah, I know what you mean. It's iffy here as well. I'll probably be hard pressed to convince any police officer that my Kershaw folder is for work, even though it does fall within the legal limits for design and size. It looks...somewhat aggressive. Stupid invention: The soft-top convertible. So ugly.

Hm. I carry a knife pretty much all the time, except when I go to bars and the one time I was angry enough to expect trouble. Odd, that I only leave it behind when I'm most likely to actually use it. It may generate some distress with the cops at some point, but the ones I carry are all technically legal. I have a Buck knife for work, and a Kershaw for everything else. And my car keys have a small one as well.

Well it was a malicious jumble of half-formed thoughts. There was my workplace, which was a hospital for some reason, that guy from corner gas, the receptionist, a cell phone, two handguns, and some random guy having a heart attack.

Nah. While I agree that the 'take responsibility' argument can be twisted into something sinister, I also cannot condone an outright ban because of a small percentage of deaths. It's entirely possible that they're used too often. Regulate all you want, people will still die. Ban them, people will still die. Abolish the police entirely, or crack down harder than ever before. People will still die. People die. No amount of legislation will change that. There will always be killers, corruption, war, disease, death, pain, misery. It's the human condition. Ban tasers, and I'd say (opinion) you're doing more harm than good.

Getting drunk and arguing with the cops is asking for something to go wrong, too. What irreversible damage does a taser do in sixty seconds? For the record, a standard M18 air taser discharges 50,000 volts for only five seconds per trigger pull. An X26C civilian model discharges at 50,000 volts for ten seconds. But yeah, it is quite likely that they are used too often - I've been over this before with an 'ease, safety and convenience for the cops' sort of theme. I just think this whole 'ban tasers' thing is a bit of a kneejerk overcorrection.

Given time... The point is that just about anything an officer could do to subdue a person 'causes nerve damage' so it may help to paint a clearer picture of why that's an immediate and noticeable threat. Do your nerves feel damaged?

Hey, you know what else causes nerve damage? Alcohol.

Must add: -Call of Duty 4 -Bioshock tentatively, but I have to rebuild my system before I can actually play it. -Maybe Dark Messiah, though I only got part way through before I hit a major snag. Also requires rebuild. But I kicked enough men off high walls and impaled enough guards in the back while they were lying face down on the floor to know that I liked it. I don't think anyone should like Halo. Never before has such a mediocre, schizophrenic game generated such an empire.

I'll never carry an umbrella unless the shaft conceals a compact .410 shotgun.

It occurs to me that many of these aren't really inventions. Anyway, those stupid umbrella-hats. Hell, umbrellas in general under most circumstances.

There should be a guy at the patent office who screens all sumbissions, and shoots the inventor on the spot when it's something really awful.
