This is interesting. I don't know why or where this information is available from but this is what showed up when I typed Matthew Good new album in Google:https://www.google.ca/search?q=matthew+good+new+album&oq=Matthew+good+&gs_l=mobile-heirloom-serp.1.3.0l5.85688.104381.0.107076.39.29.0.2.2.15.381.4572.5j16j5j2.28.0....0...1.1.34.mobile-heirloom-serp..25.14.2678.kPce0plaj9Y

It's not too often that I'm disappointed in a MG song but so far neither song released is doing much for me. Bad Guys Win is pretty bland to me and Decades is better but is missing something. The chorus is kind of generic to me but I quite like the verses and riffs. Usually the single/s bring some sort of intrigue but not so much this time. The clip to Bullets in a Briefcase however piqued my interest.

Yeah it's definitely an adjustment to hear when you know the original but I think it may grow on you. To me the lyrics come across stronger in this version with it being quieter and Matt's singing which sounds so sincere.

Well this is a surprise to me. Not just a random song release but the choice of cover. I would never have expected Matthew Good to cover Blown Wide Open or necessarily anything by Big Wreck. I don't recall him ever commenting on the band or anything. Awesome choice though. It's odd hearing such a different voice do this song but it sounds very nice. Very nice singing.

Will We Ever Get To See/hear "ahead By A Century"
Manchalivin replied to finboy's topic in Matthew Good
Ugh, this band is so very overrated. I never got the appeal and unfortunately they've become one of Canada‘s most known bands. I don't have any problem with the music, but it doesn't do much for me. What I really dislike though is Gord´s voice. He has an absolutely terrible voice for singing that always sounds the same and is grating on the ears. In my opinion he is not a singer and if I can't get on board with the vocals I can't get on board with the band. -
Agreed on him being really good at these kind of songs. Cold Water and Los Alamos are some of the best of his career I think. How do you know what it's called?

I don't know if people have been listening to the snippets from the new album, but I am excited for how different this is sounding. Yet another stylistic change for MG. I don't know if this is for the new album but it's got the feels and some different vibes in my opinion. https://www.instagram.com/p/BTSFzvZhp3E/

What a way to cap off this tour with the DVD that Leif recorded. Great to have such a well done memory for this tour. Thanks again.

I dunno, the U2-ish sounds might turn me off a bit (U2 isn't bad, they just don't really do anything for me) and some of the vocals sound a little bland to me, but I quite like the "Stood still, let my memory quit" parts, especially at the end. The intro and outro sounds are pretty coolio too, something different for MG.

Some different sounds interest me but the overall song is kind of dull to me.

I went to my first Matthew Good show in London on Friday and it was kind of a surreal experience. I kind of thought I'd never see him live, but a BM themed tour was the extra push to get me there. Hearing BM in its entirety was really cool and MG did not disappoint. He really sounded good I thought. I had a pretty good view but I think the spot I was at was not the greatest for sound. I was up against the wall. It still did sound quite good considering. My first real concert ever and it was LOUD. I went thinking I'd wear earplugs but then thought I wanted to hear my first experience normally and thought earplugs might block out the sound too much, but I think they actually might have made it sound better. I'm hoping to see him again on his next tour and will definitely be wearing earplugs if I go again. It would be nice if people went to shows for the music and not to get drunk with a crowd of people. Go to a bar if that's what you want. I bought the shirt with the big monkey face on it. Sweet throwback.

Every once in a great while I kind of enjoy Last Of The Ghetto Astronauts. I always really liked She's Got A New Disguise and Fearless especially and The War Is Over and Symbolistic White Walls are quite good, but for the most part the album is rather bland to me usually.

Wow, those sound really good. Thanks for sharing.

Man, Hospital Music is a fantastic experience through a journey of emotions. It is so sincere and honest which is a big part of what makes it so strong. It is distinct among MG's albums, not just for the lyrical themes, but musically. On one hand it seems like a pretty depressing album, but there is a fair amount of beautiful melody and upbeat parts that make it quite varied, and some hopeful lyrics. I really like the little samples and subtle touches throughout. Most of the songs are highlights. Black Helicopter might be my favourite. This album kind of stands out to me more than any other MG album and sometimes resonates with me most.

It seems like they're playing Apparitions more like the original in that video on YT, or is it just me? It made me pretty nostalgic listening to this particular performance. Really good. I rather enjoyed the RFH as well. Looking forward to hearing this album live on the 3rd. I am intrigued by the different sound of the main riff in Decades (sounds cool), but I'm not sure about the chorus. It's kind of bland.

I definitely prefer the original Let's Get It On, and I really like the new one. The blackbird part in the original alone makes it superior in my opinion. A highlight singing moment in Matt's career I think.

Sums it up well for me. I do think the song is decent though.

Merry Christmas and Merry Boxing day.

I really enjoyed this Suburbia on the latest listens. It sounds more lively than the original yet still has the haunting aspect. That and the beginning of Load Me Up really jumped out this time. The guitars and melody are just so nice.
-
That Suburbia video is easily the best lyric video I've seen. It was great how the scenes went with the lyrics and the style of it was fantastic. It does have an unsettling look and feel, much like the lyrics.

Anyone heard anything from Sparklehorse's It's A Wonderful Life album? I feel like some of those songs have a feel and sound that could fit Matt.

I actually quite like the lower "real intent" part on this version of New Wave. I think some lower parts were artistic choices. He definitely doesn't sound like he used to but I think he can still belt it out pretty good. His younger and older voice, they both have great qualities.

This EP is like HD Beautiful Midnight.

Ok, second listen I'm already leaning towards this is a great EP. The production is so much crisper and clearer and there are so many little touches that you can hear. As a fan you kind of grow with the musician and these songs do have a lot more space and melody to them. In a way Matt's older, more mature voice resonates with me more here than the original. The original BM is so thick and moody it gets a bit much after a while. Stu adds a very nice melodic flavour on these songs. What's awesome is that this has yet another distinct change of sound for MG. It sounds quite a lot different than both Chaotic Neutral and Beautiful Midnight and yet, he doesn't go beyond what sounds natural for him. He is quite the versatile artist. I Miss New Wave is still my favourite. I love the little clicking sound in parts and it reminds me of Los Alamos in parts. Does anyone know what instrument makes that clicking sound? I like Born to Kill more now and the ending is a very nice, melodic, more subdued version. I think the only thing that sounds kind of weird for me is the final "it's more than the less you say you do" and "it's more than the shot that gets you through". It sounds weak on here and I don't know if someone else is doing background vocals or Matt, but it could sound better. Let's Get It On has a fantastically different vibe. You can't help but have an emotional attachment to the originals, but I could say there are definitely some improvements throughout these songs. I thought I had my "album of the year" with John Paul White's 'Beulah', but this EP might top it for me. And it's not even a full album. MG is also much more special for me so that adds a lot.

Has anyone noticed on Matt's site it says on the new release of Load Me Up "for Dale Jr."?
