in canada, we don't have specific laws to deal with censorship issues, instead we have various control boards made by various mother television groups to ensure they aren't offending viewers away. what you get of course is different groups with different target audiences and different motives.. in otherwords, inconsistency. but whatever, you know what you're in for if you're watching the comedy network at 1am vs. the morning news.

i would think the price of bacon would go up. less pigs = less supply of bacon for not-much-less-than-usual demand. especially once current reserves are used. but pigs are like bunnies in terms of turnover so new baby piggies will be ready to eat in no time.

ours are doing that too but its really just to catch the eye of the public. for example, if you listen to any news talk show in canada, your worries would immediately be taken care of. there are experts and 'experts' dispelling this shit left and right... the truth is out there.

i kinda understand the hype. they had to plan for the worst case scenario, i.e. this virus is sweeping the country like the plague and we need to stop it now. the best case/what seems to be the case is that (from what i've read) is that its no more harmless than the regular flu, which does kill many people each year but can be treated. the issue is that they definitely knew within a rather short period of time what this disease was about. within a couple of days, they had to have had this virus mapped out and knew exactly what it would do. and then they causes hysteria anyway. at any rate, i'm pretty likely to survive (from what i read) if the virus made its way to my neighbourhood.

we aren't getting long distance when we move, so for the price of it, its worth it for us to get the calling out kind. but i have no idea what the state of my computers mic is...

im going to get skype, i think. when my credit card has some room on it.

thats why i don't buy newspapers... i know that by the time my day is winding down and i have the time to read the paper, its old news. i may as well look online for free at my leisure... but then i don't. and i get behind and misinformed.

i'm really not willing to give anime a go. i know its close minded of me or whatever, but if i watch a little then i'll have to watch a lot. it's like liking bob dylan... you have to know your shit or you look like an idiot. also, north america does a pretty good job of entertaining me. not to mention the much under appreciated canadian film and television industry.

i don't want to know when i die. thats my thing. i couldn't imagine the terror of having a gun to your head, knowing it will go off or being in a plane thats on its way down.

if you compared car accidents to plane accidents and the phobias people seem to have of either, the really aren't proportional. car accidents happen every second of everyday and few people fear getting into a car. plane accidents are far rarer and millions of people are scared of flying. that said, i'm not above the fear of flying myself. i'm not terrified, more anxious. i've only been on a plane 5 times, once in an open cockpit plane, once from ottawa to toronto, once from ottawa to sarnia (with a connecting flight - so 5.5. times), and then to mexico and back. they are few and far between, but the return trip from mexico was nothing. just like getting into a car. s'pose my last flight was recent enough that i didn't have to have any anxieties.

it seems every time i have a technical problem, it can be solved simply with only a few replies to my query required. and judging from the reply count of many other threads, i'm not alone. so here's a thread where you can post quick questions for quick replies and we can all move on with our lives thereafter. my question: a couple of days ago, i went to play music from my itunes and it said something about a sound driver not working and wouldn't play my music. today, my itunes won't even load. i click on the icon and the hourglass shows up for 3 seconds then disappears, like nothing ever happened. i'm going to restart my computer now to see if it just doesn't want to work right now, but what else could it be? update: alrighty, she's working again. thanks for clicking.

i do not like how eyeballs look from that angle. good comparison, though.

i actually have noticed this before. not so much amongst my social circle (although groupings by gender do seem to happen and then dissipate) but more so when i'm with adults or at family functions.
