  1. While reading your post, I noticed you don't really need "with a dance beat" to finish this sentence.
  2. Woohoo! I greatly look forward to it! I wonder how they compare to his previous work... ;)
  3. April's the release date, right? I suppose I can be patient for another 5 months... ;)
  4. Glad to hear he's still knocking a few "singles" out. I know, I know... just because something is "catchy" doesn't mean it's good (slight tangent: Hospital Music is probably my favorite Matthew Good album, and, while "Born Losers" isn't my favorite song on the record, I love that it's there - strong melody, but by no means catering to the masses). However, sometimes I worry when artists push themselves too far into avant-garde territory (think U2 in the early-mid 90's: Zooropa is fantastic... Passengers, though? Interesting, but, with a few exceptions, sorta vapid). I haven't heard any of Good's new material; only read that it's "different" from his previous work. Needless to say, I'm very anxious to hear it...
  5. If this is about the animal shelter, I swear to god...
  6. What the heck?! It's your blog, how can anyone sue you over its content? I'm not sure how much you are willing to discuss, but I'm racking my brains trying to think of something you wrote that would warrant legal action. Instead of a blog post, could you have theoretically put your subject matter into song lyrics on your next record? Would that have been okay? You're speaking your mind; it's just words on a screen. Despite how much crap people can get away with, it's amazing how easy it is to get screwed...
  7. gaaaaaah, the temptation is just too strong, lol. Really would like M+, but I'm strapped for cash right now. Maybe after my next paycheck, heh... Anyway, I listened to "Vancouver" today for the first time in quite a while and I think it finally "hit" me. When it first came out, I gotta be honest, I was pretty disappointed, but now I can't get it out of my head! It's definitely got its own atmosphere, completely separate from the rest of Good's catalogue. And now I want more Matthew Good... how different is the new stuff? I've heard it's quite a departure, so that's always exciting to hear. I'm vacillating on this whole M+ thing... ;)
  8. This is tough, but I'll bite... Last of the Ghetto Astronauts - "Symbolistic White Walls" Underdogs - "Apparitions" Beautiful Midnight - "Suburbia" Audio of Being - "Man of Action" Avalanche - "While We Were Hunting Rabbits" White Light Rock & Roll Review - "Empty Road" Hospital Music - "99% of Us is Failure" Vancouver - "Empty's Theme Park"
  9. If only I had known! I live in Louisiana, so me acquiring the ticket would not be particularly conducive to your goal. Love Boston, btw... LOVE it! Saw U2 on their 360 Tour and it was fantastic. Of course, the museums were really nice, too. Didn't make to the aquarium, but I've heard wonderous things.
  10. I gotta be honest - I'm pretty tempted to go for the M+ subscription after seeing a few titles of his undisclosed blog entries.
  11. Been listening to WLR&RR a lot lately - the whole album seems to go fairly unnoticed in Matt Good's catalogue (I anticipate the same will be said of "Vancouver" when all is done). Going back through the record, tracks like "Buffalo Seven" and, specifically, "Empty Road," stuff I never really paid much attention to prior, are greatly climbing my list of favorite Matt Good songs. Very under-appreciated work, IMO.
  12. "I Once Saw a Magician Cut You in Half" has to be one of the most inspired song titles in Good's catalogue. Hope he keeps it...
  13. This song is QUITE good, wot wot! Jolly good job there, Matthew Good. Jolly good!
  14. 99% of Us is Failure = teh winnar
  15. I think it's time Single Explosion gets the hell out of these polls.
  16. i'm a windoooooooooooooow
  17. I'M A WINDOW!!
  18. I really, really do love "Odette" ...but not as much as "Black Helicopter." I'm just gonna go ahead and vote off "I'm a Window." Of all the tunes left, this is the only one that continues to stagnate in terms of quality, IMO. It's a good song and all, but I question its staying power... this is getting really difficult. I honestly didn't expect to be voting off IaW so soon.
  19. ^^^ Black Helicopter is in my top 3 from the record. It kicks ass. "She's In It For the Money" is my vote. I'm actually quite fond of the song, but what're you gonna do...
  20. Odette is definitely the hidden gem of the album. It's a touching song with a very thick production - maybe that's why some find it hard to listen to. I really believe that it'll grow on most people over time, its lush harmony eventually wrapping its way around listeners. The same can't be said for "Metal Airplanes," however, which seems to ramble on far longer than it should.
