I was in no way saying that there aren't homeless who deserve help, but that certainly does not justify harassing others. Was that not the initial debate? I'm not oblivious to the fact that there is a real problem with homelessness and mental disabilities, and that those people need and deserve help, but allowing them to mistreat others doesn't help anyone, and only gives other people who create their own problems another outlet to do so. Allowing panhandling only encourages an ineffective solution to yet another problem that our government is practically ignoring. You raise some good points about the difficulties of finding a job Erik, but the scenario you describe is like the chicken and the egg. You can't get a job if you're homeless, but can't afford a home if you're jobless
-
Haha, taxing the harassment of civilized society certainly sounds like something the government would do.

I find it hard to believe that anyone is "forced" to live on the streets of Moncton, considering that many places are willing to hire pretty much anyone, because no one wants to work any of the minimum wage jobs around here anymore. If they appreciate my pennies so much, they why wouldn't they just get a job that pays significantly more? I've rarely felt appreciated by the homeless when I gave them my spare change, and have been harassed and mistreated by them more often than not. For the most part that I've been exposed to, the "reason" the homeless choose to live on the streets is because they can drink their life away on other people's cash. I understand that someone who would make such a choice has probably had some rough times, but there comes a time in your life when you have to stop blaming circumstances and other people for your own problems. As I said, I have sympathy for the mentally ill, but anyone else should be capable of avoiding such poor decisions, and are choosing the lifestyle. I've seen people I went to high school with live on the street just to be rebellious

It has been outlawed in my city (Moncton) for years. I'm glad no one's allowed to beg me for my hard earned money. I don't feel bad for the homeless in a city where there are so many opportunities, unless of course they are mentally ill

New Wintersleep Album

Check out the link that D provided, Meg. I agree that their live version of this song is significantly better than this recorded one. I hope they don't rework any of their other songs with this approach. -
I want the details too Shiri, but I can't remember  Owen, I also posted about my dream with a bunch of nfers in it a while back. I think you were the first nfer to ever be in my dreams though, so you're still special! ;)
-
I had a dream with Shiri in it. She lived with me and a bunch of other people in this huge house, and she was moving away for some reason, but we were trying to get her to stay. I know there were more interesting details, but I can't remember them! Arrrg!

this is super old news I agree with shade
-
Chris, you rock my world. Interesting questions. I'll answer them later.
-
Hahaha, I agree J! You have quite the dreams, Meg. It's been a while since I've had a significant one.
-
Time is an illusion anyways, in my opinion.
-
That is awesome Meg! You should remember it as much as you can and try to create it! DO IT.
-
I agree with Beth. Going to see a movie is the kind of first date for wusses who are afraid to make necessary conversation. Lame.
-
Bahahaha, it's that thing! You've posted it before haven't you? I remember laughing then. Good points Daniel. I can't imagine my being just stopping either, which makes it difficult to believe. I often wonder if we are not collectively that greater force, but the truth of our power has been suppressed by those who have figured out how manipulate the population. The wonders of the world had to of come from somewhere, and I doubt it's some magical creature.

I'm not afraid of death any more than I am afraid of tomorrow; they are both simply the unknown. I chose not to spend my life focusing on something I can not control. I hope I don't live until I'm 70 though, unless I'm super healthy by then, which is unlikely. Who wants to be decrepit?

I nearly posted that same link a few months ago but figured everyone would have known about it already. Oh well. Tim to the rescue!

Hey, I work in the advertising field, I can't very well let it work on me
-
Same here. The only problem I have with other peoples' beliefs is when it affects the way they treat me, in a negative way. I've got a friend who is the biggest stinge ever because she gives 15% of her income to her church, and was raised by a pastor, so she thinks that people shouldn't mind just giving her stuff. She was uptight for the longest time about chipping in for gas in my Jeep, when most of the time that we spend in it, we're running errands for her. Other than that she is awesome, so I dealt with it, but talk about annoying. In my experience, I've also found that some religious people use their faith as a cover up for doing wrong things, maybe because they believe it can be forgiven. They go to church, then rip you off, but it's ok because they gather in a building every week and Jesus loves them
-
I have no idea. I completely block out advertising when possible.

I talk about it to some people too, but I only say that it's a forum, I don't say where it is. It's not like I have anything to hide, I just see this place kind of like a home, and who wants a bunch of acquaintances showing up at their place all the time? Not me.
-
I'm with Lauren on this one. I don't want a bunch of randoms showing up where I like to relax and act the fool.
