  1. stereophonics are playing as well. this is about two bands short of being my adolescence recreated: radiohead and mgb. neither of which will happen.
  2. so we're at 6? that means we're short four more.
  3. Daniel: the "original" titles were obviously jokes, but PLEASE tell me you remember them.
  4. has double life ever been performed in its entirety?
  5. the toronto date is like every kid who grew up in the 90's dream. FOO FIGHTERS AND OASIS!
  6. Queen is Dead is one of my favourite albums. Meat is Murder would be perfect without the title track.
  7. most of the songs he's released have, at some point or another, been performed live. but i'm pretty bored, and listening to all his tunes, and realised the following songs have never been performed live: Underdogs -the inescapable us Beautiful Midnight -going all the way Loser Anthems -my life as a circus clown -flight recorder from viking 7 Audio of Being -man of action -i, the throw away -anti-pop Avalanche -while we were hunting rabbits Hospital Music -a single explosion -the devil's in your details any others? i can't recall if he played lullaby for a new world order only his first acoustic tour or not. as for the man from harold wood, i'm counting it's addition between set/encore as having been performed.
  8. holy shit, i can't believe he finally got around to it. he looks good, too.
  9. "carmelina", "fall of man", and "under the influence" were played consistantly before the album came out, particularly when they toured around the time of loser anthems. they had played them before loser anthems as well, which is also when "over me" was debuted as an encore number, and later changed to "the fine art of falling apart". "carmelina", "rat who would be king", "tripoli", "advertising on police cars", and "workers sing a song of mass production" were occasionally performed on his solo tours, moreso the avalanche era tours than the white light, but still occasionally thrown into the mix. "truffle pigs", "tripoli", "advertising on police cars", and "sort of a protest song" have all been performed on acoustic tours. leaving only "man of action", "i, the throw away", and "anti-pop" the only songs he has never performed live. although someone said in another thread he started to play "throw away" at one of the acoustic shows ... calgery perhaps. also, "pony boy", if i'm not mistaken, was written around the era of beautiful midnight, but didn't get recorded until the AoB sessions. the going coastal in the studio special features a part where matt and warne are trying to figure out the guitar part and when matt remembers his opening riff he yells "NOW I REMEMBER" in hilarious fashion (i don't know if it's in the version that's around now, that's 30 minutes, but i am 100% certain it was in the original, hour long version that aired). the original tracklisting for the album was also 13 songs, and had "all together" right before protest song. i don't know if there was ever a reason given for later removing it. a little bit of trivia for ya. the band also released an 11 song track listing long before they gave the actual tracklisting. it was all ridiculous titles that i've been trying everywhere to find. all i remember are "blunder bus", "d cup", "orgasmi", and "wings of the samarai".
  10. on the mgtabarchive, this is one of the only songs still tabless. does anyone have any tabs for this song? i'd love to learn it.
  11. alright, taking the demos afforded thus far, and including the "teaser" instrumental and "tidal wave", this is what i made my tracklisting. volcano fought to fight it bad pennies empty's themepark if i was a tidal wave teaser the vancouver national anthem us remains impossible on nights like tonight the boy that could explode silent army in the trees what would some of yours be?
  12. here's the thing, even if it is in flat tuning, or with a drop d minus half or anything like that, it CAN be played in standard. he is just lacking a Big Muff (or even a properly adjusted Blues Driver) pedal and Rich's bass never sounded thick enough live. And as much as Pat is a fantastic drummer ... something about the way Ian hits them in that song ... it's one of those songs that the band got right as THE BAND ... everything seemed out of wack in the other arrangement. but it's probably the flat tuning and lack of bad ass pedals.
  13. see... i love all the songs. but they have way too similar a structure, mostly "anthem", "explode", and "theme park" ... "volcano" is even similar to these i think i like "fought to fight it" best just because it stands out among the others because of the structure differences.
  14. here's what i got. used to steal real estate signs Cookie'd keep them in her basement used to stay up all night chemistry set of replacements i've seen that door i've walked through it both ways before i lived just around here i'd sleep just around here i'd wake up every day my feet hit the floor in exactly the same place tell me, will i love? tell me, will it be enough? tell me, will i stay? with my feet in exactly the same place... step right up there's only a crowd if you hit the ground can't get up can't stand standing - step down this is us we clean up 'til we're invisible i grew up just around here i shouldn't be just around here i wake up every day poisoning my head black, but exactly the same face tell me, will i dream? tell me, will it be serene? tell me, will i stay? with my feet in exactly the same place...
  15. i've used a bunch in different papers. strange days is great to express the doldrums of working class. suburbia for suburbs. if i was a tidal wave if pretty blatent about foreign affairs. i think the best choice isn't something someone here tells you though, nor something blatent. if it's philosophy, i think you should take something where the meaning of the lyrics are nothing but subjective because of their vagueness. just my opinion.
  16. to quote the artist... "I feel compelled to explain this toon a bit. MGB has always been a personal favourite of mine and their break-up always kind of pissed me off. this toon has to do with how matt good unceremoniously blew off (or up?) his band mates for a solo career because he was writing all the music anyway and he said they were just riding his tidal wave. hence, they are dynamite to his "time bomb"... and the mask, cuz it's just freaking golden." wow... she's informed.

is it going to end up in the store then, since it's not going to be on the record and just a sort of joke?
  18. finger eleven deserves to win. why you ask? because the majority of the population hasn't heard of saint alvia cartel or pride tiger. because sum 41 is only nominated so that avril doesn't boycott. and because they won't give it to matt because they probably don't imagine him to show up, and it's a prime time award that no other band members or video directors could accept on matt's behalf. the only chance he has is if he confirms his appearance and performs. thus, finger eleven. they don't actually deserve to win, i just thought it'd catch some people off guard. but they probably will win.

i was misunderstood... i don't think it sounds like comfortable criminals. i mean, that it's like "comfortable criminals" in that it's cool, but i don't think it would fit onto a record with the other songs he's shown us.

    Bad Pennies

probably my least favourite. the chorus ... though i agree with what he says, doesn't hit. this is like comfortable criminals, cool, but may not fit well in scale of a record. can anyone rip this? maybe if i listen more, it'll grow on me.
  21. LOTGA: The War is Over Raygun: Raygun Underdogs: The Inescapable Us Beautiful Midnight: Born to Kill Loser Anthems: Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance Audio of Being: Man of Action Avalanche: While We Were Hunting Rabbits WLRRR: We're So Heavy/Buffalo Seven In a Coma: Generation X-Wing (acoustic) Hospital Music: A Single Explosion
  22. kimm~: what countries would you like to tour in the future? ->Matthew Good replies: Europe. Europe's a country... shit. my geography teacher sucked.
  23. i can't recall, but did anyone mention kanye? sure, he's the most arrogant prick in the music industry, but the man sneezes and hits come out.
  24. i meant album as whole, as opposed ot just certain songs with strong lyrics. and i'm i the only one who thought the kevin drew record was kinda shitty?
  25. okkervil river - the stage names quite possibly the best album lyrics in recent memory. i write for my university's newspaper, and i did the top ten of the year, a few of them were: lcd soundsystem - sound of silver the most serene republic - population sunset rubdown - random spirit lover radiohead - in rainbows menomena - friend or foe wintersleep - welcome to the night sky
