  1. Just picked up The Thing, in the bargain bin at Best Buy, for $5 bucks.
  2. I am stoked to get my PS3 this weekend. Metal Gear Solid 4... mmm...
  3. Funny Games was very interesting and tense until it started to poke fun at itself, which kind of pulled me out of it a bit. Tim Roth is one hell of an actor though.
  4. Metal Gear Solid 4 is also a fine example of what the PS3 can do, and is what I consider the best game ever made, and I don't even own a PS3 yet. From a gaming standpoint, I would have to recommend going with the 360 right now. The library of games is larger, and with the exception of Metal Gear Solid 4 and LittleBigPlanet, the 360 has far better exclusive games than the PS3 does. The PS3 is getting what should be some great exclusive games in the future (God of War 3!), but right now, with games like Dead Rising, Fable 2, Gears of War 1/2, Left4Dead, Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, not to mention some fantastic games you can download on XBOX Live Arcade, like Braid and Castle Crashers, I think the 360 is the way to go. If you want to do some online gaming, XBOX live is a great service, though it will set you back $60 bucks to play online for a year, and if you want games you can play with your girlfriend, well, the Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Batman games are good for co-op, but if your girlfriend is like mine, she'll want to play the Nazi Zombie mode in Call of Duty: World at War. I don't think the 360's time is running short. Yes, it's been on the market for 3 years already (PS3 and Wii for 2), but with how powerful the hardware is now, I think it's going to take more time for developers to figure out how to get the most out of the system, and that goes for the PS3 and Wii as well. This console generation is definitely going to last longer than any previous (though some publishers are STILL releasing PS2 games), and I think there are lots of games that are going to be of such high quality that you'll still want to play them 2 or 3 years down the road. In time, I know that there will be enough high-quality, system exclusive games for both the 360 and PS3 that will warrant a purchase of both (I'm getting a PS3 this weekend, and the only 2 games I want right now are Metal Gear Solid 4 and LittleBigPlanet), but for now, my vote goes to the 360.

  8. I wish I could afford a new TV and a blu-ray player right now. ;)
  9. I cannot disagree on either count. His performance (and I use that word loosely because it was so much more than just a performance), and the film itself were fantastic.
  10. I think another thing that has to be considered is that the hype surrounding Heath Ledger's performance was enormous, and that people who normally would not have gone to see a Batman movie were curious as to what it was all about.
  11. I decided to go above and beyond anything I have ever done for Christmas this year, so please enjoy my wicked awesome video (and yes I know the drums suck):
  12. Sigur Ros makes my life.
  13. Aliens the other night, which is fabulous as always. 300 right now, which is mindless and entertaining.
  14. Maybe you were visiting Calgary, and from Calgary, you were going to Sacramento, but because there are no direct flights to Sacramento from Calgary, you had to stop over in Salt Lake.
