Responses While Mentioning Matthew Good

I'm thinking back to "At Last There is Nothing Left to Say", the manifesto with the fan emails. "You haven't put out a good album since Under the Table and Dreaming." -
Fearless, Sort of a Protest Song (electric, full band style), Pony Boy, Anti-Pop, Workers Sing a Song of Mass Production, Double Life And I'd love to hear Born to Kill and A Boy and His Machine Gun again. Oh, and Running for Home.

I managed to find a grey copy of The Audio of Being on ebay. Now the CD spines make sense.

The sex scenes I think were two of the most important scenes in the movie. The first scene shows the love and fun that they have as a married couple, that they have their fantasies even after however many years marriage, that they still make the time for each other. The scene on the stairs shows the duality of not only Viggo's character, but of Maria Bello's as well, showing that even though she despises the "Joey" half of Tom Stall for the violence that she witnessed, she has it in her to be violent as well, and I think it shows that everyone, on some level can be a violent person.

Same here. Great lyrics, great concept for a song, but I just didn't like the execution.

Where And When Did You First Hear Matthewgood
AnOceanPearl replied to davidedward's topic in Matthew Good
My first Matt Good exposure was the video for "Everything is Automatic". The first couple times I saw it I thought it was an okay song, then I just didn't like it all. I liked Indestructible and Appartions well enough, but I was 13 and didn't have a lot of money and was listening to music I now consider horrible. Cue 1999 and the Hello Time Bomb video. Thought it was a fantastic song, great video etc etc. My dad bought the album and I promptly stole it and fell in love. I heard "Everything is Automatic" again right around that time too and wondered how I could ever hate that song. I've been hooked ever since then. -

I love the way Matt sings the "no pain, no gain" part at the end of Protest Song. A lot. -
My uncle was running a camp for a Saudi oil company in Iraq in the summer time, and they somehow had a bomber get through the first gate, then half a mile to the second gate before getting in and killing about 20 people. After that my uncle started wearing a flak vest and packing a sidearm. I'm perfectly content staying here ;)

Your Movie-viewing Habits

There's a blockbuster near my work so I go there to rent/buy, or I'll buy at HMV and places like that. -
Where is "The Daily Show"? I think it's basically the only thing worth watching on TV.

I'm not sure of the standings at the moment, but I think the Canucks have to win all 4 to get in because the race in the West is just too damn tight.

I'd ask for a shift premium on top of that pay.

If had to pick the best song live from any MG show I've been to, I'd say "Running for Home" at the Calgary Stampede in 2001 (I think it was 01). Having 5000 people sing along to that song while the sun is setting and Matt singing it just amazingly is nothing short of breathtaking. I'd say "Born To Kill" is one of my favorite songs that I've heard live, with "Suburbia" a close second. I get goosebumps during Suburbia.

"Who will we get to stand up for tomorrow?" Anyone else thinking long and hard about that line right now? -
Honestly, it depends on the day, but "Born To Kill" is my favorite song off that record to play on the bass, namely the chaotic outro.

A couple from Parable: If not a masterpiece than a massacre in disguise Take your whore lips and make me in the image of your perfection -
Glimpse into Hell has one of the coolest riffs I have heard in a long time. I picked up her CD "Stranded in Suburbia" the day of the show in Calgary, just on a whim, and I'm glad I did. I hadn't had a chance to listen to it before the show, but her set impressed me a lot.
