I'm going to see him at the Calgary Folkfest, and if they don't take my camera, I can try to get some video.

Greatest Song Ever

I have to agree with you on this one. -
When Matt was touring for In A Coma, it finally hit me that Pat is a powerful drummer. He doesn't just play the drums, he commands them and bends them to his will.

Every Name is My Name I used to dislike "The Rat Who Would be King", but it's grown on me a lot, as has "Little Terror".

Matt sure knows how to write with an acoustic guitar. I

Best Song Lyrics
AnOceanPearl replied to Computer's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Sang Real by Dredg I'm the addict in the corner I'm the lawyer in the tower I'm the body with the coroner No, the leader with all the power You're the pillow, the cool side The sand during high tide The cocktail poolside The water when clouds collide From the inside out we were formed From the inside out we will fall Soon this all will come to an end I'm a local but a foreigner Still the addict, yet I'm a sober Still the body with the coroner Many friends, yet still al ong You're the pillow, the cool side The sand during high tide The cocktail poolside The water when clouds collide From the inside out we were formed From the inside out we will fall Soon this all will come to an end -
Hearing from Geoff would sure beat anything I could come up with, except maybe the bassline I think I'll play for Giant from now on.

I have some songs committed to memory, if you tell me what ones you want, if I know it, I can type it out.

ultimate-guitar.com (.org?) has some, but not many. I usually just look at the guitar tabs and wing it from there.

Maybe they had gone to Earth, did their schtick, beat back the Depecticons etc etc and set up a monitoring base on Mars. We won't find out until the movie comes out, obviously, but it's possible.

Rich plays a synth, a Moog I believe it is.

I wish they'd have busted him for numerous possesion charges before he started Nickelback, and then we'd all be spared from listening to the Default Theory of a Nickelcreed clones every second song on the radio. -
It's hard to compare Avalanche and White Light, because the intent and vision of the albums are opposites on the musical spectrum, with Avalanche being about combining different elements, with lush and full sounding parts, whereas White Light was a plug in and play record, a back to basics approach to rock and roll.

I've been searching for those lyrics for ages.

Summer Concerts

I just saw Bright Eyes a couple weeks ago, Wilco is up next, then Warped Tour, and then MG at Folkfest. Possibly a couple Calgary Stampede shows if I can get the time off work. -
In Hello Time Bomb, I always sing the "we'll see if I'm kidding" bit like he does live: "we'll see if I'm fuckin' around"

I'd agree with you there for sure. When I first started playing bass, I did 2 lessons of basic theory then just jumped into learning some songs, and I'm kicking myself for it now. If I actually learned some more theory, I'd definitely be a better bassist then I am at the moment. I think it's time to pick up "Bass Playing for Dummies" ;)

I'm gunna try to pick 3 or 4 songs from each album and one off the EP's: LOTGA: Symbolistic White Walls Haven't Slept in Years Native Son Fearless Raygun: Generation X-Wing Underdogs: Everything is Automatic Apparitions Strangest One of All Look Happy, It's the End of the World (in the same vein as "The Future is X-Rated" in being a sort of anti-single) Beautiful Midnight: Hello Time Bomb Load Me Up Let's Get it On Jenni's Song Loser Anthems: Flashdance II Audio of Being: Carmelina Anti-pop The Fall of Man Truffle Pigs Avalanche: Weapon In A World Called Catastrophe Double Life Near Fantastica (the four minute edit I have laying around on my PC somewhere) White Light: Alert Status Red In Love With a Bad Idea We're So Heavy Buffalo Seven In a Coma: Oh Be Joyful! Apparitions (rooms) Strange Days (rooms)

There were a few songs that my old band covered that I essentially just made up as I went along because I didn't feel like listening to the song and learning it. That being said, Weezer's "Hash Pipe" isn't exactly a difficult song to make up a bassline to ;)

I'll go with Rat. I think it's a song about being on the outside looking in, watching something collapse, fall apart, unable to do anything about it, because no matter what you do, it's not enough. I think it's about being down on your luck but still finding something, but that "the end", whatever it might be, is unavoidable no matter what. Flight Recorder from Viking 7

Single Line Of An Mg Song That Just Stands Out
AnOceanPearl replied to AnOceanPearl's topic in Matthew Good
I always thought it was 'there's a TV in every room' It is definitely "there's a tv in every room". And, from that song: "it's amazing what velocity can do when human beings are in season" "then again a little bit of love you know, it could have done a lot" "A little bit of thunder carries a long long way" "Heads are thicker, so when you open your mouth you better think twice quicker" "These days the good guys wear black" -
Now that I think about it, Deep Six tends to get me going too.
