This is going to be very rad. That will be an awesome show.

Wow, I'm surprised at how good this movie looks. I didn't think the books would translate well to film, but I'm thinking that will be proven quite wrong..

Who Else Hates The Hip

Yeah, it's really good, but I think I prefer Phantom Power to it. Day for Night is my favourite. -

Thornely
CaptainRocket replied to sedated19's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I can't say that I enjoy Thornley at all, though Big Wreck was pretty good. It seems to me that he's thinking, "Well, making more interesting and complex songs isn't really paying the bills, so I guess I'll get get into that lucrative 'generic rock' market. Woo hoo!" I'd like to hear him sans-Kroeger, whose fingerprints are all over that album. "Ian, do you think we could make this a little more boring? It doesn't sound like everything else on radio yet." "Sure Chad, rock my world." All that said, I'm sure he still puts on a pretty good live show. -
I'd like to say that the only way I will pick this up is if there is new/unreleased material on it, but I know I will probably buy it anyway. I would hope that it had some good liner notes, with comments on each song or something.

I had a question as well, actually: If I were to obtain all the BonTempo tracks, in what order would they go in to have a complete BonTempo album?

Who Else Hates The Hip
CaptainRocket replied to Dan #3's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
The Hip are so closely associated with Canada because they are very open about being Canadian and don't try to be anything else. They write about Canada and (surprise!) Canadians like that. It's not often we can show pride in our country without also displaying our crippling inferiority complex (beer commercials). -

First of all, this thread has had way too many spelling mistakes. Sorry. Okay. So the Hip are not everyone's favourite, and it's understandable, especially in Canada where they are played on the radio every 10 minutes, but you cannot deny that they are a good band. And a great live band. Gord Downie's solo albums are also worth checking out, as they will make albums like Music@Work a little easier to swallow, and are also full of really cool music. -
I downloaded Bespin yesterday and laughed so hard when I heard it. Pure gold, my friends, pure gold. "So high on cocaine..."

I also do not think he is finished with music yet, but I think that, although I really like WLRRR, he needs to leave the music world with something a lot bigger than what he has done in the last few years. Not another 'Load me up' or anything, but something that will make heads turn, a triumph of some kind. Matt has time yet to make another masterpiece, I hope he can pull it together soon.
