Who's the best live band?
CaptainRocket replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Big Sugar's last show was really awesome, but the huge encore kinda started dragging after a bit. Matt's WLRRR tour was an insanely good live show. And of course the Hip. Know who doesn't have a good live show? Loverboy. Oh yeah. -
Okay, someone explain to me how a band like Loverboy, on their 25th anniversary tour, can afford to NOT PLAY 'THE KID IS HOT TONIGHT'?! Not even in the encore. Turn Me Loose, Workin' for the Weekend, Lovin' Every Minute Of It, do they even have any other hits? How did they manage to play for 2 hours? Gah! I just wanted one song! I cannot believe it...how disappointing. There's always Trooper I guess...

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
CaptainRocket replied to CaptainRocket's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Yes it is, but they made a movie based on that album starring not the Beatles, but as I said before, The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton -
I must admit, I had high hopes when I saw that header...movie sounds pretty cool though, I may have to check it out.
-
Sorry man, but they weren't mangas just because they are black and white, just regular old indie comics. Also, the new cartoon is based more closely to the original comic series, and has creative input from one of the creators, Peter Laird. If you watch an old episode you would see why that is a good thing... Not to sound like a geek or anything, but I have been collecting TMNT comics for 15 years or so, and have almost all the Archie books, except 3 issues I think. I also have a lot of the original books and they are a huge step up. I will agree, though, that the Archie ones were pretty wicked.

Fantastic Four isn't that great of a comic to begin with, so I can't see this movie being too 'fantastic'(<---CLEVER! OH MAN!) itself. BUT I will say it again, I am going just to see Doctor Doom brought to life... I can say just from the trailer that it will for sure be better than the 1994 version, but at least that one was laughably bad. 'Look at you, you're the Fantastic Four!'
-
I just rented this tonight, and oh man, Peter Frampton + the Bee Gees = infinite hilarity? Has anyone else seen this? Initial reaction says this rivals 'Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park' in so-bad-it's- awesome-ness. EDIT: I just realized I was in the wrong forum when I started this thread about a rentable movie...sorry everyone.

I met Rich and he pretended his cell phone was ringing so he could leave, which I thought was pretty funny. And then I saw him do it again to someone else... Oh Rich, where have you gone?
-
I met him at the first two Starlite shows in Edmonton last June, and after the one in October. I was totally shocked at how nice he was and accommidating for pics and autographs. I got to talk about the blog a bit with him, which was really cool. He even signed my guitar! So rad...

Was it said when the interview would be posted? I may have missed it.

No worries, I too am a hater. I really like Kevin's stuff, and I went into Jersey Girl knowing it was unlike anything else he had ever done, and hoping it would be good. Boy was I let down. I really really tried to like it, but the more it went on the more I could not deny that it was a bad movie. So, since this sucked, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back sucked, my hopes for Kevin getting his shit together are dimmed. But the proof is in the pudding, as they say, so we will have to see how 'Clerks 2', or rather, 'The Passion of the Clerks', does later this year.

Don't go slamming Napeoleon Dynamite now. High Fidelity is one of my all time faves. I also am a tape mix fanatic, always in search of that elusive 'perfect mix'...

John Malkovich is in it too?! this will rock AND roll!
-
I wouldn't say he sucks, but I will say that he has lost his mind.

I've really been enjoying their new album, and it translates really well into their live show. They could really only go up after In Violet Light, which is easily my least favourite album of theirs. That said, it has a couple really good songs on it, but In Between Evolution is a great improvement. -
I liked Flashdance II when it and 'the Man from Harold Wood' were one long track. The song still rules, but my vote should count for flashdance AND the man from harold wood... The Fine Art of Falling apart is really great too.
