  1. You missed Ween. And Brian Wilson. And XTC. And Xzibit. And Yo La Tengo. And Neil Young. And Rob Zombie. And Zwan.
  2. Grunge music (sometimes also referred to as the Seattle Sound) is an independent-rooted music genre that became a commercially successful offshoot of hardcore punk, thrash metal, and alternative rock in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Bands from cities in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, such as Seattle, Olympia, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, were responsible for creating grunge music and later made it popular with mainstream audiences. The genre is closely associated with Generation X, due to its popularization being in tandem with the popularizing of the generation's name. And: Post-grunge was a radio-friendly variation of grunge which lacked the "dirty" sound that most fans of grunge were used to. The sub-genre is generally believed to have came about at the behest of label executives who wanted to sell a variation of grunge that would sell to a larger audience as a result of sounding more like pop music. In the mid 1990s, record labels began signing several bands who used such a sound and gave them wide exposure. While some of these bands, such as Silverchair and Bush, were able to gain widespread success, many fans of grunge denounced post-grunge bands as being sell-outs. This is most notable in the cases of Candlebox and Collective Soul, who were reviled by most grunge fans. Even the commercial successful post-grunge bands would be given such accusations by grunge fans, causing most of them to have shorter spurts of popularity than earlier grunge bands. As grunge began to disappear from the mainstream, later post-grunge bands such as Creed and Days of the New would also recieve such negative treatment by fans of the genre. -http://encyclopedia.laborlawtalk.com/grunge
  3. The Doors - People are strange
  4. When I'm at work, we have two choices: Country or EZ Rock. Soft rock is better than no rock at all, I'm afraid... Anyways, on EZ Rock a couple of weeks ago, John Tesh actually used the word 'emo' on his radio show. I think the fact that JOHN TESH knows what emo is means it's time for that word to be put out of use.
  5. Jesus and Mary Chain - I Hate Rock and Roll
  6. Bruce Springsteen - Cadillac Ranch ...the song of my nightmares...
  7. elvis costello - (what's so funny 'bout) peace love and understanding?
  8. The Smiths - Girlfriend in a Coma
  9. I didn't find this when I searched so I assume no one has posted about it. Anyways, if you haven't already, go here for a really cool mash up of the Beatles and the Beastie Boys. dj BC made beats out of Beatles tracks and put Beastie vocals on top. There are some cool mixes, especially if you already enjoy the Beatles and/or the Beasties. In my opinion, this kills DJ Danger Mouse's Grey Album mash up (except for '99 Problems/Helter Skelter', which is way too cool), but that is open for debate. I recommend the "Tripper Trouble" track. Enjoy.
  10. I don't what to say that can't be said. It speaks for itself, really. Just beautiful.
  11. What about the Beastie Boys...
  12. I didn't think E-pro was as good as everyone said it was. Is the ablum as a whole better?
  13. Look for one of the b-sides to be a cover of "Unbreak my Heart"...this doesn't look good. I will still be buying the album first thing May 10, but mark my words: I will complain on the internet if it does not meeet my standards!
  14. Pavement, the most important one no one heard of.
  15. It sounds alright, sounds like Oasis. But this has Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr) drumming doesn't it?
  16. As with any era, there is a lot of shit in the '80s. At least there is a lot of fun shit there. If you actually do some digging and listen to a lot of stuff from the decade, you can find some great bands and tunes. Writing off a decade's worth of music is retarded. You are retarded.
  17. Tomorrow Never Dies
  18. It is Spidey 3. Hopefully we will finally get to see some sweet Venom action. "I'll eat your brains!"
  19. Seriously guys, "Bennifer" applies only to Ben + Jennifer so and so. Assfleck will be acceptable until something actually clever is suggested. Consistency, people!
  20. I think it's his voice that bothers me on it. It sounds too forced, and I hate the lyrics. and I don't listen to any of that other crap you pointed out up there. Go Billy!
  21. I am a huge weezer fan, but this album is their last chance with me. If it tanks, I have to completely give up on them ever being good again. That said, I fear the worst after hearing 'Beverly Hills'. I have heard good things about the rest of the album, though, and really, anything will be a step up from Maladroit. I hope. Lyrically this is supposed to be the most in depth effort of theirs since Pinkerton. However, it really would help if the music was also at that level, which "Beverly Hills" definitely isn't.
