I heard he had soem kind of vocal surgery after Underdogs, so he started tuning flat for ease the strain on his voice. -julz

Setlist: POYL Poor Man Bad Idea Automatic Weapon Been Awhile ASR Timebomb Load Me Up Apparitions Pretty standard MG show. -julz

The Jangolier is one of 3 Rodchester Kings songs that haven't been released at all, so don't expect to find it. -julz P.S. The 2 RK songs we have are fucking outstanding.

Yeah, I hate Kingston crowds, there's always people causing shit, and it reflects badly on those of us who are decently well-behaved. Here's the setlist: Put Out Your Lights Poor Man's Grey In Love With A Bad Idea Everything Is Automatic Weapon Alert Status Red It's Been Awhile Since I Was Your Man Hello Timebomb Load Me Up Apparitions Pretty standard MG show, all in all. Glad he played Automatic, since he didn't in June. -julz

Well, it's been over 2 years since Matt Good has started gigging with the new band, and I must say they've vastly improved since some of those early shows. Christian's nailing his leads much better than on the Avalanche tour. In many 02-03 bootlegs, you can hear a number of sour notes in the leads, but lately he's been pretty much spot on. Rich has always been solid on bass, but he really stepped it up on WLRRR, just listen to the fills on ASR or the bluesy lines on Little Terror. And he can still rock out the old tunes like Automatic. Pat's drumming has also gotten more dependable. On some Avalanche era bootlegs, he misses beats and the whole band goes off because of it, but nowadays, he's dead on, and puts in some unbelievable fills in there too. Though I still miss the days of Dave, Geoff, and Ian, these boys are definitely a more than worthy replacement, and have given us a stellar album in WLRRR. Discuss. -julz

Of all MG/B records, Avalanche has to be my least favourite, not because the songs are crap, but because of how it was produced. But hearing the songs live made me think of how the album could've been. So here's how I'd have loved to see (or heard) Avalanche: 1. Pledge Of Allegiance (live version: piano, guitar lead at end) 2. Lullaby For The New World Order (starts like live version with piano, 2nd verse like album with strings) 3. Weapon (album) 4. In A World Called Catastrophe (album, without the dragging ending) 5. Avalanche (live version: rockin solo sections) 6. 21st Century Living (album, with live Bush speaking parts) 7. While We Were Hunting Rabbits (album, without the dragging ending) 8. Bright End Of Nowhere (album) 9. Near Fantastica (live version: much more rockin) 10. Song For The Girl (album) 11. Double Life (album) 12. Long Way Down (live version: much more rockin) 13. House Of Smoke & Mirrors (album) 14. Comfortable Criminals Bonus track: 4 Minute Mile Any comments are welcome, or post your own tracklist. -julz

I'll be there. I'll be the kid with the short red hair and MG airforce shirt. -julz

One thing that's really disappointed me about the 2003-2004 tours is the lack of backup vocals. I don't know why Matt decided to forgo them lately, but I'm sure, Christian, Rich, or Pat could at least handle some of the harmonies. So with that in mind, how about a little poll of your favourite MG/MGB backup vocal moments. LOTGA - Fearless (chorus: "Fearless") Underdogs - Prime Time Deliverance (pre-chorus: "headlight morning glow") Beautiful Midnight - Born To Kill (chorus: "floating, loaded") Audio Of Being - Advertising on Police Cars (chorus: "advertising...") Avalanche - Avalanche (chorus: "avalanche") WLRRR - North American For Life (chorus: "oh yeah, alright...") B-sides/EPs - Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance (chorus: "miles away") What are yours? -julz

Little things to notice: The other band members: Dave in the elevator, Geoff as the other janitor, Ian somewhere...I forget The dude in the washroom is obviously snorting coke. Basically the premise is some big company guy gets fired, hires a hooker, fucks her in his office, and blows his brains out, leaving the ho obviously distressed and Matt the janitor to clean up the mess. -julz

Lame, I should be in there. -julz -
Here are all the songs he's played on this tour: Apparitions (solo acoustic) Everything Is Automatic Giant Hello Timebomb Load Me Up Weapon In A World Called Catastrophe (solo acoustic) Avalanche Near Fantastica Can't Get Shot In The Back Big City Life (new song) and all of WLRRR. You're guaranteed to hear POYL, Bad Idea, Poor Man, ASR, Load Me Up, Timebomb, Apparitions, and Weapon. For the others, take your pick. -julz

Matt said in a blog post shortly after the release of the songs that he really didn't mid that they were leaked, but the record company did. -julz

During the university tour in Sept 03, I got to see matt play here at Queen's. Earlier in the afternoon, I was just wandering around campus, and I heard music, so I went to it, and it was MG soundchecking, and the guy at the gate to the parking lot where they were playing just let me in. SO I watched the soundcheck, and then Matt came down to sign stuff. I scrounged up a piece of paper for him to sign, and the only thing I remember him saying was "You crazy Queen's kids, knock off the cheering, you're freaking me out" or something to that effect. Then I saw him play AJ's here in Kingston on June 2, and after the show, me and my friends walked around a bit, and came back in hopes of seeing any of the band members. WE didn't see anyone, so we hopped in a cab, and as soon as we started to drive off, Matt came out and started to sign stuff, so the cabbie stopped for us (props to him), and we went to talk to him. He signed my setlist, and showed me his thumb that he busted up (you can hear him talking about it in the Kingston bootleg, which I recorded ;), then my friend talked to him about the crowdsurfers during some of the less crazy songs ("you shoulda played Catastrophe to keep that circle pit going") and Matt was just like "yeah, I hate that kinda stuff too". -julz

It's actually not in the liner notes, it's on the small print on the actual disc, and on the inside spine of the cd case liner (the part under the plastic). -julz

Then there's the thing in on the Avalanche insert: "in the morning through the streets have there be no parade no emergency no parade just the bells of st. laurence and the empty mile to walk out of this town back to the place of my birth to go as i came" No idea what that's from. And the infamous "help us get rid of the matthew good band" on AOB. -julz

Since they've done so much changing to these songs since 2002, here's what I'd like to see. 1. Load Me Up/Generation X-Wing (with all the nice new guitar parts) 2. Under The Influence (with extended ending) 3. Apparitions (with the piano from the 2002 tour) 4. Hello Timebomb (with extended ending) 5. Life Beyond The Minimum Safe Distance/Carmelina 6. Near Fantastica (live rockin version) 7. Strange Days (Cayuga version: new beat, guitar solo at end) 8. Everything Is Automatic (just cuz I love it) 9. The Future Is X-Rated (slow version) 10. Giant/Symbolistic White Walls (new version of SWW, obviously) Encores (all solo acoustic) ------- 1. Apparitions (yes, again) 2. IAWCC 3. Can't Get Shot In The Back

I love the hat idea, I think you can hear the explanation in the Grand Bend bootleg. There's also the Flip A Coin pool, basically Matt starts off the show with one of three songs: POYL, Poor Man, or Bad Idea, and whichever of the 3 other members picks the right song wins the pool. Apparently rich won the first 2 in a row, I think. -julz
-
Yeah, I'd say Buffalo Seven, We're So Heavy, or Little Terror, in that order. I would have said Put Out Your Lights, but it's a bit too short. If it had another verse, a different one, it would work. -julz
-
So who else was in this "Joke band"? -julz
-
Love the funky basslines on that album. -julz

What exactly is all this Bontempo business anyway? I kinda missed it all... -julz
-
I think I was the only person who sang along to all the songs at the Kingston show. -julz

I'm not a big fan of remixes either, but there's a few of his that I like, such as Long Way Down -julz
