At the grocery store where I work, our prices are more expensive than those of our competitors, but I've heard from a fair number of customers that they shop at Sobey's (shameless corporate plug) because of our customer service and the quality of our products. I think that speaks volumes about the shopping patterns of many consumers.

I heard about it on Daily Kos, a GOP congressman said it was like going to the market in Indiana.

But that's because everyone knew the mujahedin were fighting for freedom and apple pie. Back then it was a lot easier for the government to control the debate because the enemy was something tangible, an actual state people could find on the map, and there probably wasn't any talk of discriminating against American Soviets like there is against American Muslims. I think this is why the Bushies are losing the current debate. It's really quite pathetic to watch. I'm assuming you've heard about John McCain's recent stroll through a Baghdad market? Most Americans know what's going on now and aren't biting. The Bushies no longer control the language being used, and once control of language is lost, in my opinion, the debate is lost.

There's a Wal-Mart next to the Sobey's where I work. I was talking with a guy who works there, and apparently an entire shipment of X-Box 360s went missing because the night staff wanted them. That's probably the only cool thing I've ever been able to associate with Wal-Mart.

One of the things I've always enjoyed about MG is that his music, not just the lyrics, creates images, and I'm definitly seeing why the new album is called Hospital Music. It's quite cool.
