I love Elvis movies...he couldn't act to save his life, but as soon as he needed to sing, it was all over. Just by the sheer power of his influence, and the doors he opened for out artists, he has earned his place in history, all of the other accolades deserved or not, should just be granted, for all that he did do.

You know how to stop a war with Iran??? A reality check....The average soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been on engaged in operations, for over 15 mos. I know Marines and Army personnel who have served multiple tours because there aren't enough replacements for them. I have a very close friend who is a navy doctor, who has was sent to Afghanistan 9 mos, after 18 mos in Iraq. Those are just regular military personal. Then there are the reservists and guardsmen, who never expected this shit, that have been called up multiple times. Most of these people don't want to fight anymore, be away from their families anymore, they just want to go home. That being said...I'd say if we opened up another battlefront...it would have to be done with a draft, and you know how popular that is. Realistically, there just isn't the man power for it. The Navy can only do so much, by bombing the shit out of them, but there would be no way to sustain any kind of ground attack mobilization. There is only one way this could work...and that's with the backing of the united nations, and other countries, performing a majority share of the ground mobilization...which will never happen.

This began as a crime of passion, that escalated. Yes it was an Asian male, but I can't see how this would lead to a racism issue. He was an equal opportunity shooter...he shot people of color as well as whites. What it should lead to, is stiffer gun control laws, and a more stringent policy on non-citizens purchasing weapons. It should also lead to better campus security policies. Tim, you asked the right question. After the first shooting the whole campus should have been locked down, the commuter students should have been turned away at the entrances, and the on campus students should have been locked down in the dorms, and the law enforcement agencies in the area should have been tearing the campus apart to ensure that it was secure. The President of the school, the Chief of Campus Police, and the local Police commanding officers should be held accountable for these deaths. This wouldn't have gone beyond the initial two deaths, had this been handled properly.

He is definitely not the best thing to ever happen to it...however he is important for a number of reasons. He helped bring Rock N Roll to the masses, and his emergence led to the acceptance of artists of all races. Look at him like you would Eric Clapton...a lot of people say if it weren't for Eric, they wouldn't have discovered Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters, and many more. Elvis was the same, people wanted to see where it came from...so they discovered, little richard, Carl Perkins, etc.
