I understand what you're saying and I thought about that when I set this up. I didn't want to be the sole judge of which songs were strong and which were weak, and so the process of selecting matchups was random. However, we will be able to bring songs that were eliminated back later on, just so that no song that deserves to be ranked amongst the top 20 gets left out because they lost early. Lastly, if it was set up so that all the matchups were strong vs. weak, it would really take the fun out of it as there would be no real close contests, which would suck because the first round takes up about half the time of the whole process. That being said, I would never had alowed something like Weapon vs. Suburbia in the first round, but so far I've made no changes to the way it turned out. If one of the matchups puts a top 20 song from 2005 against another top 20 song I'll consider making changes.

I've seen it it referred to as being the "HOSAM" version before and so I went with that, not sure why it is referred to as such as I only discovered the song after signing up onto the bored. From now on songs that are not from albums will include more detail.

yes it's the acoustic version. I had actually completely forgotten this version existed until I did this as I accidentally deleted it from my computer at some point.

I love Man of Action as a opener and as much as I love Change of Season I think I will have to pick Empty's Theme Park as my closer. Worst combo: Pledge of Allegiance and True Love..., not because Pledge of Allegiance is a bad song, I actually like it a lot more than some other songs on that list, but it fails as an opener for me.

As far as I know it's been awhile since this has been done, and since we now have two more albums to include I think it's time we do it again. Format is the same, song vs. song, with the opportunity to bring back some songs later on that may get eliminated earlier than they deserve because of unfavorable matchups. Most matchups are random, the exception being tracks that are different versions of the same song, i.e. "Rooms." There are 144 songs to choose from as I threw in a few pre LOTGA tracks to bring the number to 144. Round 1 A 1) Tripoli vs. Tripoli (rooms) - Tripoli lost to Tripoli (rooms) in round 1 in 2005 - Tripoli (rooms) finished 9th overall - MY VOTE - Tripoli 2) On Nights Like Tonight vs. Look Happy, It's the End of the World - On Nights Like Tonight did not exist in 2005 - Look Happy, It's the End of the World lost to Weapon in round 2 in 2005 - MY VOTE - On Nights Like Tonight 3) Weapon vs. Failing the Rorschach Test - Weapon finished 7th in 2005 - Failing the Rorschach Test lost to The Rat Who Would Be King in round 1 in 2005 - MY VOTE - Weapon 4) Born Losers vs. Raygun - Born Losers didn't exist in 2005 - Raygun lost to Lullaby For a New World Order in round 1 in 2005 - MY VOTE - Born Losers 5) Hopeless vs. The War is Over - Rematch from 2005 - The War is Over was victorious, but lost in round 2 to Under The Influence - MY VOTE - Hopeless 6) Girl Wedged Under the Front of a Firebird vs. I Am Not Safer Than a Bank - both tracks did not exist in 2005 - MY VOTE - I Am Not Safer Than a Bank 7) Big City Life vs. Jenni's Song - Big City Life lost to While We Were Hunting Rabbits in round 2 in 2005 - Jenni's Song lost to Sort of a Protest Song in round 3 in 2005 - MY VOTE - Jenni's Song 8) My Out of Style is Coming Back vs. Metal Airplanes - My Out of Style is Coming Back lost to Truffle Pigs in round 2 in 2005 - Metal Airplanes did not exist in 2005 - MY VOTE - Out of Style 9) Comfortable Criminals vs. Flashdance II - Comfortable Criminals lost to Everything is Automatic in round 2 in 2005 - Flashdance II lost to Strange Days in round 3 in 2005 - MY VOTE - Flashdance II Voting is open until noon November 4th

Am I The Only One Up For Another Straight Rock Album?
rebellious_L replied to ccf23's topic in Matthew Good
After I read this I listened to this album for the first time in years, and I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would. And I'd have to agree, We're So Heavy is amazing, easily in my top ten for Matt Good. -
Itunes Album Covers
rebellious_L replied to alex_madf3rit's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
If it's just a few albums the easiest thing to do is highlight all the songs in the album, right click to get the "get info" screen and then find the album on wikipedia and copy the picture and paste it into the album art box. But if you have a lot of albums that need this done, it can be very time consuming. There is a program called "Tune Up" I think that might work but my library is fairly organized so I didn't want to potentially screw it up. -

Radiohead - In Rainbows
rebellious_L replied to shade's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
So far it has been pretty good. First few songs indicate that I may like this album more than hail to the thief. just curious if anyone is willing to say, how much did u pay? -
My vote goes to Gerard Kennedy. His track record is good (though short), and he should appeal to NDP voters as well because of his position on the left wing of the party. I would probably vote the liberals in the next election if any of these candidates were the leader, with the exception of Joe Volpe (who doesn't stand a chance anyway)and Bob Rae. His presence as a top candidate angers me, seeing as everything he does goes to shit. The two things listed on the top of his resume, Ontario Premier and Air India Inquiry Commisioner. How'd those go for him? I'd rather suffer under Harper than have Bob Rae drive the economy into the ground and proably the liberal party with it.

unbelievable how someone can be so consistent in making their product so incredibly shitty yet no one cares enough to stop buying them.
-
a more shocking announcement would be him announcing he is straight.

Even though she obviously sucks, I'd still rather watch her make an ass of herself than see another mediocre Phil performance.
-
Once again, just kick out the whole bottom three cause it is obvious none of them could possibly front this band. It is already narrowed down to Dilana, Lukas, Patrice, Storm, and Toby. Everyone else blows. (unless I'm forgetting somebody)

So You Think You Can Dance?
rebellious_L replied to Kumquat's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
People watch this show? -
I didn't realize so many people don't like adverising, man of action, change of season and rorshach. those are all in my top 20! Song for the girl Radio Bomb I, the Throw Away Inescapable Us I almost always skip those three, espespecially I the Throw Away, which is hands down the worst song on any of his albums and most of his demos.

Current Commercials
rebellious_L replied to RicardoObviouso's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I like the All bran commercial, where everyone is laughing because the guy eating the all bran bars says they taste great. -
for an inconsistent injury prone choker, a 2nd round pick is pretty good.
