Why Did Matt Fail In U.s. Market
Monochrome Rainbow replied to evilcartman1972's topic in Matthew Good
North America is a shithole. MGB failed in the states because neither the label or band really put much effort into success. Of course it's harder to put effort into it as a band if your label isn't. Failing had nothing to do with anyone's political views. However I think if he tried today that would be a negative factor for MG. -

One time I was at this party with a few friends in a small town close to the one I grw up in (anyone that lives in an area where there are little towns close together, you probably know that in most cases these towns a bitter to each other for some stupid reason). Anyway, my buddy had this huge farm and we had a concert in a field pretty much, lots of kegs, it was a good time. This fucknut recognizes me and knows I'm not from the area and we're both walking the same direction so he backs up a step so that I nudge into him. Then he flies into me calling me a ******** and cocksucker and whatever else comes to him and is trying to provoke me to hit him. I fuckin' hate idiots like this and I normally just walk away as I'm a pretty quiet person. Anyway, I looked at him and calmly said, "You're a waste of my fuckin' time and energy. Fuck off, you're just a part of the load your mother should have swallowed." I walked off and I think some random guy just started beating him down (that's what everyone was saying the next few days) because a bit of a drunken brawl ensued.

Is he even nominated for anything?

Harper Proposes Fixed Election Dates
Monochrome Rainbow replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
No, from what I've read everything else would function exactly as it does just instead of the government being able to call an election anytime within 5 years it happens once every 4 years automatically. I really like the idea. Edit: I should have read the rest of the thread. This was already answered. My apologies. -
Harper Proposes Fixed Election Dates
Monochrome Rainbow replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
How could fixed election dates be a very bad thing? I think it's awesome. But yeah, year long campaigning like the US is a bit much; they should have legislation introduced that limits the campaigning to a month. There's still ways around that even but at least we woouldn't have the blantantly obvious campaigning complete with the crazy signage. -

Favourite Country Artists
Monochrome Rainbow replied to Ryan44's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Johnny Cash is incredible. And his stuff can fall into a number of different genres, especially considering he had like a 40 year career. Earlier stuff = Country Most Recent Stuff = Folk There's the occasional bluegrass/gospel sound in the midst of everything as well. -
I love our anthem. I actually prefer it to the US anthem, although it is pretty cool.

Do You Like The New Budget?
Monochrome Rainbow replied to Kyle86's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
I think it's interesting that even though the budget is full of tax cuts and softwood lumber has for the most part been resolved the Conservative party support has dropped 4% since April. Clicky Of course polls don't really mean that much at all, especially since there's like a 3 point margin of error. But the main thing is there hasn't been a whole lot of talk about the budget. Are people generally happy with it? Most people I talk to were not really impressed at all, others had no idea what I was talking about. -
Yeah, from what I understood the funeral wasn't an issue. There's nothing special that takes place at the CFB that would warrant a barring would there? Once they arrive are they immediately taken to another location? Are the families typically present when the caskets arrive in Canada? I'm totally clueless when it comes to this practice so I want to be as informed as possible.
-
The media is quick to list the names of people who die on the news every time it happens (sometimes for days in a row), and I think that is the public's opportunity to learn about it. These ceremonies are for the families, and the public, and the media, have to right to be there. Try to be in the shoes of those soldiers loved ones. I understand where you're coming from and I've thought a lot about the position of the families but isn't the initial ceremony public? I would have to say that I don't support the media to be present during the funeral. In all honesty, I'm starting to think I may be misinformed... How do these ceremonies work? I'm relatively young so I haven't had a lot of opportunity to witness what was formerly practiced. I also have never really watched much television at all in my lifetime. I was researching on the internet to inform myself before I even started postin in this thread and what I had found was that the soldier's basically arrive and there's a regular ceremony to honour their sacrifice that the public can attend and then there's the military funeral for the families. I understand that before the media was involved with everything and all of these events were televised and now they're not allowed to have any part in it. I didn't get that information from the government website but it's the only information I could find. Is this accurate because as far as I'm concerned it's kinda hard to refuse the media access when the public is welcome. Is this how it works or am I totally misinformed 'cause I don't see how televising a public ceremony is disrespectful to the families... Edit: Bad Grammar I realize but I was in too much of a hurry to write properly. Sorry if it's difficult to follow.

It doesn't cost much to pin a topic does it?

I don't get why not lowering the flag is even an issue. It cheapens the act to do it every time a soldier dies in war. It's war; that's what happens. We didn't do it during any other war we have taken part in so why is it an issue now? The media can be lame sometimes. Although I still believe they should have access to these cermonies. Not only does it provide opportunity to mourn but it also gives people a bit more of an idea exactly what war costs a nation. Whether this cost is justified or not, people still really need to be aware and see for themselves exactly what they are supporting or protesting.
-
I don't watch the news. I researched and found out everything I needed to a couple days ago though. And I say no to lowering the flag.
-
It's just a ceremony. They joined the military and essentially pledged their life to the country and lost their lives fighting for the country. The country should be able to mourn their death. Personally it doesn't sit with me. He's essentially barred the media completely from the fallen soldiers. Isn't there a ceremony before the actual funeral? Why not allow media access during the ceremony to give all Canadians the chance to mourn Canada's loss?

Flag issue?
