Wintersleep...

'03 is 'way back in the day'? are you six years old? Hahaha, just seems like awhile, in all honesty I thought it orignally came out in like 2001 or something. And that's kinda my saying for anything that happened before my high school graduation. Sorry, force of habit. ;) -

Yeah, I can't find anything either for torrents or .mp3's on Limewire. I already have Orca though, I remember that track from way back in the day. -

Clicky clicky You can stream the entire new album here. Some really wicked tracks are: When Angels Make Contact Midnight is the Time Spoonful of Sugar 1 For the Motor J.J.'s Theme Mornin' Sun Heroine What's a good site to upload tracks with? I don't know where you can stream any tracks from the Matt Mays + El Torpedo album. Great tracks from that one are: What Are We Gonna Do Come the Month of September? Shakakahn: It was an incredible show; you're fucking right he's fantastic! shade: Based on what you're saying I think you would actually enjoy some tracks on the Matt Mays + El Torpedo album and probably most/all of his newest solo effort, When The Angels Make Contact. I'd honestly check him out, he has some basic rock tracks in his catalouge (although they are all exceptionally well done) but he's got his own sound too for sure and he does push boundaries and branch into other genres in his new album, it's actually quite diverse. He's one of the best current Canadian acts ot there, in my opinion. -

I bought We Were Born In A Flame (for some weird reason I hadn't purchased it already) and Chemical City over the weekend. -

I saw Wintersleep open for Sam Roberts on Saturday night. It was a pretty good live show, I was really impressed. I may download an album or some loose tracks but I'm not sure if it will actually be any good, any suggestions of some really wicked tracks? To be honest, I'm not really expecting any studio track to be decent at all. They had a great dynamic and they were really in sync at the show but I seriously have my doubts any of that energy is present on any of their albums, or that the songs are even played the same. Are all of their tracks between 6-8 mins on the albums? The long tracks at the show were really good, but the few shorter longs they played sounded like filler... Also, just about every other member of the band is a better vocalist than the lead singer. Side Note: If anyone lives in/around Halifax and has an opportunity to see a band their intereted in at the Cunard Centre on Pier 23, don't pass it up. I was there for the first time this weekend and it's just this really open space (kinda reminds me of a warehouse) with carpeting. They have a great stage too. It's an awesome venue. -

Yeah, I think the Sam Roberts show will be fantastic tonight. I can't wait; I've heard great feedback about his shows although I've never seen him live before. Also yeah, sucks they delayed the release of his album by a week. I was practically counting down to the end of the month. It's neat though that the new J.J. Cale album is going to be released on November 7, seeing as how Matt refers to his work a lot and talks about him as a big inspiration. -

I actually really do enjoy the view around Alderney Park, one of the better you'll find that's close to either waterfronts. If I had a car I would probably drive there from work everyday for lunch in the summer/fall. I wish I worked near the downtown area over on the Halifax side, I'd love to hit up Point Pleasant park for an hour in the middle of my work day. Every time I talk about the HRM I re-realize how much I really love this area. I love that I live 20 mins from Peggy's Cove, and other surrounding areas but I'm still within walking distance to all of my necessities and have easy access to all sorts of vibrant and diverse art and entertainment. -

The only thing Dartmouth has on Halifax is the view over the Harbour. ;) -

It's different than classic Hip for sure, I keep waiting for them to retreat back to more of the sound you here on Up To Here. Fully Completely is a sweet album too. In any case, I still really like the new material, although I think In View is one of the weaker songs on the album. The Kids Don't Get It, Family Band, World Container, and Lonely End of the Rink are all awesome tracks. I was really worried when I heard Bob Rock was producing it but it actually is a pretty damn good album. The Hip had nothing but fantastic things to say about working with Rock too, from what I hear. -

This new material is incredible. I'm really impressed. I'm not really suprised with the electronica-type stuff on the album though, it's kinda neat to hear some of his original stuff from that genre. He DJ's at a bar here in Halifax every now and then. Used to be every Saturday I think but now obviously not so much with the touring and all. It was kinda funny actually. I went to a show at this bar for another band and the band usually covers "Cocaine Cowgirl" apparently, and they had seen Matt Mays in the crowd. The lead singer was like, "We have this Matt Mays cover that we usually do at every show but uhhhhhh..." Then you hear Matt from the back shouting "Let 'er rip!" Too bad the cover licked donkey balls. -
I agree, nova scotia is pathetic for concerts Yeah, we don't get a huge amount of bigger bands here, they mostly stop at Montreal, which is really unfortunate. Although I musy say the music scene here is still pretty awesome. There's a HUGE amount of local talent and you'll probably discover a lot of little gems that may turn into some of your favorite artists. I swear Halifax is becoming the new Seattle. I've actually got a project in the works to attract acts to Halifax and act as a network for local bands as well. Hopefully everything goes according to plan.

Audition is pretty good. I've actually seen a lot of gems created using Fruity Loops as well. -
Just more rare. Only 500 ever made. No difference in the music.
